He was going to give them the finger? They didn’t know why, but this statement ignited their anger even more!

How dare he give them his finger!? Did he think they were people that he could easily give his finger to!?

Vrrrm!

Suddenly, Long Di's finger shone with a resplendent light!

Grey lightning began to crackle around his right index finger. It no longer looked like a regular finger, it appeared in everyone’s sight like a divine weapon newly unsheathed.

Shu!

The first figure appeared in front of Long Di with a palm strike leading the way! They didn’t want to give him enough time to react, but it was too late!

Boom!

Long Di’s finger evaded the figure’s attack, which appeared to have faltered a bit before it landed on the latter’s head, causing it to explode into a bloody mist, sending the headless body flipping through the air!

Long Di’s cauldrons were on full display behind him as they spun at top speed ever since he entered combat mode.

Electricity crackled and danced in terrifying arcs around his right arm. He appeared to be brandishing the weapon that would spell their demise.

‘Did I just… flip him off?’ As this thought ran through Long Di’s head, the rest that was rushing towards him paused immediately, shocked by what they saw!

‘Was it not the sword that produced the power of tribulation lightning!?”

‘H-He just killed a 2 Star Core Martial Master with his bare han... finger!’

‘Why do I feel like I’m facing an insurmountable wall!?’

“W-We can’t win this fight!’

Thoughts of varying natures went through everyone’s heads. But there was one thing they all held in common, and that was fear.

Long Di saw this and took advantage of it. He didn’t want to be some bloodthirsty fiend, but he knew that it would be a problem should these people escape and start talking about him!

Shu! Shu! Shu!

He started to run through all the figures here, one after the other. For every thrust that his finger made, a figure would fall!

There were several reasons for this, even though Long Di’s cultivation itself matched or even fell short by at most 1 star core compared to the black-clad figures here excluding iron man’s poorly drawn doppelganger.

Firstly, Long Di’s elemental affinity, which is more or less tribulation lightning, possesses a natural suppressive effect on all cultivators. The effect becomes even more pronounced the higher his cultivation is from others.

Even though it was just at the heavenly levyance level, it could still cause a kind of prickling pain that went soul-deep. This kind of pain might not seem that important, but on the battlefield, if it causes a distraction, it can mean the difference between life and death.

This was what caused the earlier figure’s attack to falter. When he neared Long Di, the slight pain distracted him and caused an opening to appear in his attack, which Long Di managed to grasp and kill him through.

Secondly, Long Di’s momentum at the moment was at an all-time high. It was this momentum that he rode that caused him to continually move and weave his way through the crowd of enemies.

Them running around like headless chickens because of their broken courage, combined with his unstoppable momentum, equated to a slaughter-fest that Long Di hosted.

What was even more frightening was his dead eyes that didn’t even fluctuate as he cut down one person after another.

This was a demon, a dead-eyed, inexpressive, charm-of-a-fly demon that inspired fear with every move he made!

Even the young disciples that found him quirky and somewhat adorable-ish were now trembling with fear.

Was this still the Long Di they knew? Would he still recognise them amidst the slaughter, or would he cut them down like all the others?

Shu!

Long Di’s fingers just exited the body of the last black-clad figure. Blood spouted like a fountain as it followed the invisible path his finger took to leave the body.

Thud!

As the last body fell to the ground, it was like a drum that thumped upon the hearts of the young disciples, shaking them from their trance.

Long Di looked in their direction as he fought to catch his breath and started to walk over. His cauldrons receded and the lightning arcs that danced furiously into a shine on his finger dimmed before it returned to normal.

He stood before them, and they looked back at him in silence. He remained expressionless and blank, but there was weight behind this because of the slaughter.

In truth, they would rather if he heralded an expression of supreme fury, or one of madness even, but when he didn’t even bat an eye at what he did, it was like he didn’t place much value in other people’s lives.

“Don’t... think that… you can go far on this path without blood on your… hands,” he breathed hard as he fought to spit thee words out to him.

This sentence struck a chord in them. They couldn’t refute this at all.

The great heroes in this world that they looked up to, walked a path paved with blood and bones. So why look at Long Di any differently, when all he did was protect them?

“I need to finish up here, so look all over the bodies. Take any storage rings you’re able to find, the spoils of wars go to the victors, after all.”

Saying this, he picked something up, before walking over to the body of the figure who sported the bronze helmet.

His body lay motionless and his eyes were closed. Long Di couldn’t even see the occasional rise and fall of his chest to signify his breathing. It was as if he was truly well and dead, which would save Long Di the extra effort.

“Well, one can only dream,” Long Di sighed before he began to quietly store up energy.

He stared daggers at the body as if he was appreciating the beauty of death in all its splendour.

Chi!

Without any warning, the body arched up in a jolt and released an attack which would have shocked ANYONE BUT LONG DI!

Long Di with the worst impression ever of someone being shocked, “Oh my goodness, you’re alive. I did not see that coming”

Sadly enough, that wasn’t even sarcasm, it was just bad acting.

Nevertheless, the bronze helmeted figure saw that Long Di was acting, (as anyone with eyes could) but since he already launched the attack, he went through it!

‘Did he see through my impeccable acting?’

Boom!

The attack of the bronze helmeted figure landed on Long Di’s chest, sending the latter flying back with a terrifying celerity, shocking the young disciples!

Ack!

A mouthful of blood erupted not from the mouth of Long Di but from the bronze helmeted figure.

The cost of erupting with 100% of his strength instantly and not just gradually was great, especially when he was already severely injured!

“Ugh!”

He fell to one knee and his eyes turned red, especially when he saw how those children were cleaning the dead bodies of his subordinates of their rings and possessions!

‘I’ll kill every single one of those children when I’m done with this monster! How dare he trick and attack me like that!? Leaving me in this state, how shameful!’

The bronze helmeted figure turned his attention to Long Di, who had long landed in the distance and was now seemingly unconscious.

He made his way over to where Long Di was in a flash. The bronze helmeted figure looked down on him with malice in his eyes.

“If I, a half-step cauldron core flame fusion expert, were to die by the hands of a-”

Pu ci!

Before he could finish what he was about to say, a sword crackling with tribulation energy pierced through his chest, coming out through his back!

Long Di who was playing dead opened his eyes and stared at the sword he just plunged through the bronze helmeted figure’s chest, causing the latter to fall on his knees not for the first time today.

“You know, to be fair, this is all your fault.”

Long Di said with a cool expression, his hand still on the sword.

This was the object he picked up off the ground before he headed in the direction of the bronze helmeted figure.

“Who rants before killing somebody if they themselves are weak? Fodder characters, that’s who,” he said before tightening his grip on the sword.

“If you need to rant, do it while killing the person,” saying this, Long Di started to pull the sword out.

The tribulation lightning he injected in the sword wreaked even more havoc in the bronze helmeted figure’s body!

The figure looked at Long Di in fear as he could feel his life force running out.

He had no more energy to speak, he just looked at Long Di, his pleading eyes visible through the helmet slits, spoke for him. They begged to be left alive.

“Thirty-five.”

Confusion flickered in his eyes when he heard Long Di calling out a number.

“That’s the number of novels I read where the MC spares someone early on in the story and ends up getting someone else killed, themselves nerfed, or forever wears the moniker of being a simp, I, on the other hand, am none of those,” Long Di explained.

He never stopped pulling out the sword as he spoke, “how many novels do you think I read that has zero plot armour but instead uses common sense all the way? Nipping the trouble that you are in the bud? Would you like to know?”

The bronze helmeted figure only gave grunts of pain as he answered nothing. The fear in his eyes grew with each passing second as he gazed at Long Di’s inexpressive ones.

Long Di came to his ear and whispered, “just the one.”

Vrrm!

The lightning erupted and burned out the entirety of the figure’s internal organs, killing him in an instant.

“Ack!”

“Ah, Long Di!”

Suddenly, a mouthful of blood erupted from Long Di, eliciting a cry of surprise from the other disciples.

“Crap. So that’s what a lack of plot-armour feels like, huh? Meh, wonder if I can get one of those…? Probably not.”

Saying this, darkness dominated Long Di’s vision before silence quickly followed. His expression remained unchanged even as he lost consciousness.
