Leander really tried to clear his mind, but it kept wandering around his thoughts. He remembered how he had managed to hold out for ten whole minutes against both Morris and Dorian during his last spell slot.

He had managed it by circling mana around the barrier constantly. So, that, once there was a crack, the mana automatically went to fill it without Leander even thinking about it.

He had watched the two as they charged and sidestepped one another, Morris being more mindful of not rushing over Dorian and Dorian giving Morris signs to where he was moving to.

But then, just as the tenth minute had rolled around, the two rushed at the same spot as raging bulls and had hit the barrier with all they had. Dorian bashing it with his shield and Morris doing a risky maneuver by swinging the axe close to Dorian's head.

Leander had been livid when the barrier fell. He had gone and checked Dorian for injuries first, but then had rounded up on Morris. But, Morris had not been chastised. He had grinned, and even Dorian had chuckled a little at Leander's charade.

Sure, the healer knew that risks had to be taken, but during training too? That was overkill! But neither of the warriors had seen it that way. They had countered his arguments, stating that Leander was taking the biggest risk.

Since neither could stop their momentum once their weapons were swinging. So, Leander risked being maimed once the barrier fell. Leander had to agree with that. He had to leap out of the way as soon as the barrier cracked too much.

The last time he had flat out dropped to the ground, and it had been just in time because Morris's axe sailed over where Leander's head had been just a second ago.

After that, they had added momentum stopping to the training regimen of the warriors. They were trying to pull back their attacks against dummies now. But the dummies looked like corpses now, so, that spoke badly for their prospects.

Leander allowed himself to watch them for a while. They had both taken off their blouses, and their naked torsos were glistening with sweat.

The healer gulped and closed his eyes, but the picture of his half-naked partners played in his mind. This was problematic. He didn't have a chance with either of them, and knew that he was crushing on them only because they were kind...and easy to look at.

While Leander was shaped like an apple and had lost just five kilograms since he started his workout routine. Maybe, once he lost all the extra weight, he could try to make his feelings clear.

But, to whom? Both Morris and Dorian had their good qualities. Morris was Leander's first real friend. He always had a good word for him or advice on how to improve.

Dorian was always kind, almost to a fault. He had the habit of sandwiching his advices between words of praise, which was doubly true for when he spoke with Leander. While he was not as muscular as Morris, he had a swimmer's body and long, elegant, pianist's fingers.

Leander's fingers curled and he shook his head. Mana core, he needed to find it and force it to expand. Not think about the good qualities of people so out of his league it was not even funny.

The healer did his best to follow his heartbeat. He began to circulate his mana around his heart and then began to breathe in and out loudly.

When he felt like he was about to fall asleep, he noticed something warm in his chest expanding. Just a bit, but it pulsed, and he grinned. As soon as he did that, the feeling went away. He sighed and began to focus on his heartbeat again. This was going to take a lot of work.

Morris managed to redirect his axe just as it was about to decapitate the dummy. It took out the wooden thing's arm, instead. He sighed. If a mob tricked him into fighting close to Leander, he could end up crippling or even killing the healer.

Dorian would pull up his shield, the axe warrior knew. But Leander might be running out of mana for a barrier. Or tired. They really needed to work on the healer's endurance.

Yesterday, the three had celebrated Leander making it to the five kilograms lost mark. They had done it in a barbecue shop, both warrior's eating their fill while Leander ate a single pork rib. Morris was glad to note that the healer had drunk just water and had not reached out towards the complimentary buns that the restaurant had given them while the meat had been cooked.

Now that Leander was losing weight, his cheeks were sinking. Morris could see that the blonde had the promise of having cheekbones so sharp one could cut bread with.

The axe warrior thought that Leander would have been quite handsome, without all the fat. Even now, he looked pleasant enough. His blonde hair was such a soft yellow color that it was almost white, and there was gold in his eyes.

Honestly, if Morris didn't fear that Leander would take his offer as mocking, he would have asked him out on a date already. But, for now, Morris decided to wait. Once Leander lost his extra weight, his pride wouldn't be prickled by something like a date invite. Morris hoped.

Dorian chanced a look at Morris, who had just cut off the arm of his dummy. Not that Dorian was doing any better. His dummy was riddled with cuts.

Then, he looked at Leander, who seemed to be at peace. That made Dorian think. The two looked like they had everything figured out. They were carefree and confident, well, in Leander's case, most of the time.

He wished to be like them. So, he made a couple of steps back and charged at the dummy, rising his shield high and aiming for the head. Then, just as he neared the dummy, he made a diving motion and slammed the shield into the ground. There was a crack in the stone, but, for once, the dummy was left without wounds.

Dorian grinned and went back to his beginning stop. He charged again, feeling like he was making progress.
