“Why do you ask?” Joan was suddenly stunned by Sandra’s question so she replied uncomfortably.
“I’m just a little curious,” Sandra replied with a shy smile.
“I’ve only known him for a day,” Joan answered.
“One day, just one day?” Sandra’s eyes widened slightly.
Eileen, who was also curious about Joan and Sandra’s conversation, couldn’t help staring at Joan and waiting for her answer as well. Eileen remembered that when Joan was in her dorm room, she had given Crowe a bottle of water that she had been drinking. If anything happened at all Joan would immediately inform Crowe about it. It seemed to Sandra that Joan and Crowe had a good relationship with one another and their relationship status was quite ambiguous. Sandra and Eileen were surprised that they’ve known each other for only one day.
“That’s right. Marina, Sean, and I only met Crowe yesterday.” Joan replied as she looked back at Sandra and Eileen, who couldn’t tell what she was thinking. She turned around and sat back down in her seat, then she glanced at Crowe as he entered the hall on the first floor.
It was chaotic inside. Several tables were lying on the ground. There were stains all over the place caused by dried vegetables and noodles. There were also many corpses lying around and looked like they were dismembered. Even if they were scattered on the ground, it was hard to tell one apart from another. They were all torn up and eaten by zombies during the outbreak. They didn’t even have the chance to turn into zombies at all, they were torn to pieces before that happened.
The plates, bowls, and various utensils in the cafeteria were scattered all over the place. There were so many of them that no one could finish counting. After he briefly scanned the hall, Crowe walked toward the stairs on the left, which was closer to him. He was heading straight toward Alice and the group.
As he was passing by the small milk tea shop, a female zombie who was wearing a staff uniform suddenly came out from under the counter. She was blocked by that counter and couldn’t reach Crowe. He wasn’t surprised or scared at all. The alloy blade in his left hand cut across the zombie’s throat.
A straight line suddenly appeared on the female zombie’s neck. In the next second, its head fell off from its neck and tumbled to the ground. He had sensed the zombie’s presence in the shop beforehand, but he wasn’t afraid of it. Even if the zombie was behind him, Crowe couldn’t have been ambushed.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A loud banging noise was audible throughout the space. He heard the sound of several tools colliding with the stairs, as well as the chaotic roaring noise of zombies. He switched the alloy blade from his left hand to his right. Crowe sprinted and he sped up three times the speed of a normal person as he rushed straight toward the stairs.
On another side, Alice was like a female ancient knight. She swept the stick and knife in her hands, she had been cutting up zombies all this time. She didn’t want it to get too close so she tried to hit them from a distance and carved them up quickly. There were only six zombies there, but it wasn’t easy to deal with.
Beatrice started to bring out her strength. With the small knife in her hand, she displayed her extraordinary skill in killing zombies. With each slash, a light flashed, and the zombie in front of her became riddled with cuts. It fell to the ground and stopped moving.
However, what Beatrice was doing wasn’t easy, her chest was beating at a regular pace now heaving with tiredness and her breathing became irregular during the chaos.
“Ha! Ah! Ah!” Gordon screamed as he used his inhuman brute force to break open two zombies left and right. However, under such an intense impact, the iron rod could not bear the heavy load and bent. Gordon couldn’t rest as he had used up a lot of his strength even after he had already put down the food sacks on his back. Gordon was able to crush the zombie’s head with just a rod but now his strength was only enough to wound its head. He couldn’t kill them in one strike anymore.
The other two boys also played a role in helping the group survive. They waved their weapons in their hands cluelessly yet managed to hit a single zombie and stun it. It was too late for them now because while they were busy beating the six zombies that were blocking the stairwell, a large wave of zombies that was following them had caught up.
These zombies would replace the ones that the group had taken down and started attacking them mercilessly.
“We’re not going to make it, are we?” Alice couldn’t help but reveal a trace of despair and helplessness on her pale face. She was already being succumbed to exhaustion fighting against that small group of zombies and so was the others. A group of thirty-plus zombies was reaching from the back and another smaller group of zombies was attacking them from the front. It was something they couldn’t prepare to deal with, even less so in this condition.
‘Is this the end? Am I going to die here with her students?’ Alice thought.
Bang!
Suddenly, a bright object hit the wall from the silent corridor.
“What Is that…?” Alice’s beautiful and clear eyes were wide open. She saw a figure approaching the stairs. It was a living person! She saw the two zombies at the bottom of the stairs dashed toward his direction but he showed no signs of fear or panic. He moved his arms twice and suddenly, the zombies stopped moving and fell quietly to the ground with two separated heads lying nearby.
“That strength, how was that possible?” Alice’s heart was filled with confusion, yet at the same time, joy and hope also overwhelmed her heart. Not only that the figure she saw was a human but with this level of strength, there was a possibility that they might survive this ordeal!
At this moment, the zombies that were blocking the stairs rushed toward Alice in surprise. As she had used up too much of her strength and was distracted by Crowe’s ability, she didn’t have the time to fight back. She couldn’t even dodge herself away from its attack. The zombies were getting closer and closer and their big, yellow teeth could be seen clearly.
“That person should be a lecturer, why would she make such a stupid mistake?” Crowe noticed Alice in the middle of an attack as she was about to get bit. Crowe was speechless. He was also surrounded by zombies. Even with his strength and his skills, he shouldn’t let his guard down. His powerful strength was bursting out and he moved at lightning speed. Just when Alice had thought that she would be bitten by a zombie, it suddenly lost its strength and fell to the ground motionlessly.
“You are?” Alice looked at Crowe who was standing in front of her and wanted to say something if she wasn’t in a daze. Crowe shook the zombie blood off his alloy blade and asked Alice “How could you possibly have made a rookie mistake like this? If I was slower, you’d all be dead!”
“I…” Alice blushed, feeling embarrassed.
“Forget it, let’s deal with these zombies first.” Crowe brushed off Alice immediately as he swung his blade into another zombie’s body..
