There were a total of three zombies in front of them. As Crowe closed in, he clenched his hand into a fist and punched the zombie’s face that was in the middle. There was blood all over its face, its mouth and nose were bleeding after Crowe landed a punch, its terrifying roar had disappeared and its body collapsed to the ground just like the other zombies who happened to be in Crowe’s way.
Crowe kicked its body away and it stopped moving. It was completely dead. On the right side, Crowe’s right arm was lifted high up in the air and the alloy blade in his hand slashed across the neck of the other two zombies. In one strike, Crowe had managed to kill two zombies.
The path was cleared from all zombies, Crowe moved aside to let the other go through. “Hurry up. If the zombies catch up again, don’t blame me if I won’t be there to save you.” Crowe said.
The zombies behind them squeezed through tables and chairs on both sides so hard that these obstructions were almost lifted off the ground. They rushed over, only wanting to land their bite on a living being.
“You must be careful,” Alice warned Crowe with her concern as she passed by.
“Get back here alive, I’m planning to befriend you.” Gordon gave Crowe a rough smile.
“Just stay alive.” Beatrice, who was at the end of the group, stared deeply into him as she was walking by. It was the first time she cared about someone.
Crowe raised his eyebrows but didn’t respond. At this moment, a large group of zombies was only a few feet away from him. He took a deep breath, then leaped into the air and kicked away the zombies in the front. He moved toward the corridor’s center and away from the staircase.
The zombies seemed to have completely forgotten about Alice and the others who were running upstairs, they were all only going after Crowe. Fortunately, they were moving at a relatively slow pace. With Crowe’s strength that was three times stronger than ordinary people’s, the group of zombies couldn’t catch up with him even if they wanted to. That wasn’t his plan though, Crowe wasn’t the type that would run away. He wanted to stop them.
As he kept a certain distance from the zombies behind him, Crowe temporarily stopped and used the system. “System, open the reward manual!” Crowe wanted to see if he had completed any quest as he killed two hundred zombies or more. As expected, there was also an eye-catching reminder on top of the reward points for killing zombies.
“Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the [200 Kill] mission. The reward is [Basic Speed Enhancer] x1!’
“Basic Speed Enhancer…?” Crowe was confused.
“What does it do? Does it just increase one’s running speed? No, a reward provided by the system shouldn’t be that simple. Maybe it will increase one’s movement speed or something.” He speculated.
Crowe thought hard, he turned around and glanced at the zombie crowd a few feet away from him. Without hesitation, he accepted the [Basic Speed Enhancer]. It was a blue bottle of potion. It looked crystal clear and bluer than seawater. Crowe gulped it down immediately.
A sudden warm liquid flowed down his throat. All his limbs and bones felt comfortable and nimble. He had the sensation like he was floating in the air and his body felt significantly lighter. He felt like he was a piece of paper with no weight at all. Crowe knew it was only an illusion. The [Basic Speed Enhancer] had only helped increase his speed. Yet, his body power and other physical qualities remained the same, he didn’t lose any of his attributes at all!
He glanced at the nearest zombies that were running toward him, he smirked. He felt his speed had increased not only to his movements but his attack speed as well. Of course, this was just Crowe’s speculation. He wanted to try his newfound ability on the zombies behind him to see if his theory was correct. Crowe shook off the zombies behind him for some space, he would be needing it for his next move.
Crowe wasn’t at all stupid. The space he left was to ensure that he wouldn’t be in danger in case things went wrong. He valued his life. At the side of the tables in front of him, he turned in another direction.
Some zombies were chasing after him, some behind him were making their way toward him. They were in a frenzy going after Crowe. He looked around, left and right, seven zombies were actively chasing after him.
Crowe suddenly decided to jump onto a desk next to him, he jumped into the air and kicked one zombie’s head with his leg. The other zombies were trying to grab at him with their skinny, decaying claws. The second before one zombie was about to touch him, Crowe suddenly took a step back and thought to himself.
‘This speed is more than twice as fast as before. Is this for sure the [Basic Speed Enhancer]?’ Crowe was a little baffled by how much speed he had gained. Crowe’s fists were flashing and the zombie was sent flying, it landed on a chair almost ten feet behind him.
He was satisfied with the upgrade. It was something that could remarkably improve his performance in eliminating the zombies. With his new [Basic Speed Enhancer] coupled with the [Intermediate Combat Technique] skill book and his default strength that was three times stronger than normal human beings. He was on the verge of being the strongest person alive, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that. With this kind of enhancement, he could now quickly kill five zombies in only a brief moment, his power and ability would be terrifying.
Previously, in a situation where he was facing thirty to forty zombies, Crowe was able to eliminate them by stealth attack and strategizing his position. Things have changed, however, now he could face a large number of zombies head-on.
“In that case, I don’t need to run anymore, instead, they should be the one running. They most likely wouldn’t run away though.” Crowe said. His increase in abilities and speed gave him the greatest confidence.
…
“Open the door!” Alice’s voice was heard in the distance.
Wendy, who had been guarding the electric door, saw Alice running toward them. She hurriedly opened the door and welcomed Alice, Gordon, and the others behind him and Beatrice as well. As Wendy was about to close the door Beatrice stopped her
“Wait…” Beatrice opened her mouth.
“What’s wrong?” Wendy was puzzled. Alice also looked at her bafflingly.
“No. Just don’t close it.” Beatrice gently shook her head in the end. Wendy hurriedly closed the electronic door, she assumed that there might be zombies coming at them at any time. She couldn’t afford the risk as she saw that they were all in chaos.
“It was a mess downstairs. Alice and the others, are you all hurt?” Wendy asked worriedly.
“We’re fine,” Alice said after taking two deep breaths and calming her chaotic breathing. At that moment, Chris, who was at the other side of the electronic door, ran over..
