Chapter 14: Chapter 14 – Recovered

Ethan wakes up, not knowing how long he has been asleep. His eyes slowly open, and he begins to feel the energy in his body returning, though pain lingers in certain parts of his body.

"Ugh..." Ethan moaned, opening his eyes.

Transparent green writings filled his sight.

He opened his eyes wide, dazzled by the light; he quickly closed them, tilted his head, and attempted to take in the details of his surroundings. The room was quite spacious, with a bed, wardrobe, table, chairs, and some wall hangings - it was just like a room in a five-star hotel.

"What... Where am I?" he asked.

His memory of what happened after his last attack was hazy; he was already very weak, and someone grabbed him and rescued him before he lost consciousness. 

He only heard the girl's voice for a moment. She had a gentle voice. 

"Who is she?" Ethan was startled. He was unsure of what to say.

At first, he thought his life was cursed, but recent miracles have changed his outlook. He managed to escape from the first Mutant Wolf he encountered and found shoes that enabled him to fight five Mutant Wolves single-handedly. Lastly, he obtained a Weapon that both insulted and saved him.

"I clearly underestimated it. I need to apologize."

Ethan experienced a miracle: someone helped him at the last minute when he was in mortal danger. This kind of thing usually only happens to the main characters in stories, and he feels he doesn't deserve it.

'I need to pay the person who saved me.'

He felt the energy return to his body and immediately felt better. His important attributes were completely fulfilled, though it was obvious that his total stat had decreased by more than half. Afterwards, he quickly examined the System's rewards for his accomplishments.

“Inventories.” he said.

‘I've gotten a lot of good stuff.’

He opened his inventory and was stunned by the number of things inside it.

He expected to receive more than a few items, but he never imagined he'd receive so much.

His Inventory slots increased, as did the number of Monster Crystals he got, which exceeded his expectations. Additionally, he acquired some of the Mutant Wolf's armor.

‘I feel like I just won the lottery’ he thought.

He was overwhelmed by the gifts he received, feeling he had done little to deserve them. He wept and lamented his fate when suddenly a miracle happened.

'Why do I feel like I'm living out the plot of a novel? Shouldn't I have to work hard to achieve something like this?'

He shook himself out of his daydream and, finding himself too weak to sit up, opened the shop to search for potions that could restore his strength.

‘Ah, the potion shop. Shop.' he muttered.

‘Purchase Full Body Healing Small.’

[You purchased a Full Body Healing Potion (S) with 10 Purple Grade Crystals and 1 Indigo Grade Crystal.]

'The price is quite high, but who am I to complain?'

Ethan held a small, glowing green bottle in his hand. He opened the lid and drank the contents. Immediately, he felt a wave of freshness, and the chains that had bound his movements were released. His blood began to flow freely, and his wounds and scars began to heal, including the deformity of his left hand, which was now restored.

'Oh wow, I'm really healed.'

Ethan felt like a new man. His body was now perfectly healthy, and he felt like he could run a marathon without getting tired.

He smiled with relief as he felt his body had completely returned to its original, now even fitter than before. He stretched his stiff muscles and sighed in relief, having previously struggled with a wound in his chest.

'That was amazing!' he thought.

With a glance at his left hand, which had also returned to normal. 

"Great! If only these potions could be produced in larger quantities!" He thought to himself and then checked his most recent stats.

After slaying so many monsters, He earned eight levels. He started thinking about how he would use his newfound stats. He decided to focus on strength, as it would make it easier to wield his increasingly heavy weapon.

‘I'm not sure how much my stats will help me in battle, but I should still try to raise them.'

He had shoes to boost his running speed, so he decided to allocate 8 points to Strength, 4 points to Constitution, 4 points to Stamina, and 1 point to Dexterity for his Stats Points. After making this combination, he checked the other items he had obtained and said, 'Ok, what's next?'

Sitting comfortably in his bed, he looked up information about the Hammer in his Inventory.

"This is definitely the item that changed everything." he murmured to himself.
