"Many call me Freyian, you could call me Shan."
I fiddled with my bracelet. I couldn't muster up the courage to meet her head-on, "Veil." Her gaze was scrutinizing. I hear her shift around and when I glanced over she had brought the two teacups to her front.
"I'm curious about you. So, as long as my questions are answered, I'll let you go."
It's not like I have much of a choice, but getting out of here unscathed would be great. I don't think Ma wouldn't enjoy seeing me hurt.
Oh. I have blood on my hands.
Forgot about that. I need to clean my shit later.
"First, what type of drink do you like?"
I like water and orange juice, "Water."
Freyian starts pouring water into the teacups with a teapot she got out from somewhere. It doesn't look like she has any bags with her. She pushes a cup over to me.
"Out of all the biscuits, which's your favorite?"
She gestures to the platter on the table. I'm confused about why she's asking these questions.
"...Strawberry." And also red bean.
A biscuit was placed before me, it was strawberry.
This is strange. No wonder Ma said not to interact with other magic users. They are strange.
I observe from the corner of my eye her spear.
And dangerous.
She picks out a strawberry biscuit as well and continues her questions, "How old are you?"
Um.
"I'm not sure..."
I don't remember when I was born. Ma has said we're ageless, so it'll be pointless to celebrate birthdays. She does take me out on certain days of the year though, so maybe a couple of centuries?
I see her quirk an eyebrow at that, "Guess."
"I can't recall my birthday."
She leans in, "Or are you hiding it from me?"
My hands started to fidget, "I'm truthful."
Feryian leaned back and I breathe.
"Tell me, who were you waiting for earlier?"
"My Ma."
"And she left you here?"
"She's just busy!" There's no chance of the former happening.
She sipped her teacup and the clouds overhead began to shade our spot, "Do you recognize this?" A toned arm was raised and wrapped around its wrist was a delicate red woven bracelet, connecting to a single blue bead.
I stared.
"I have one like it."

I held my wrist. It's got no beads but they are similar.
She frowned, "Answer me. Do you recognize this?"
What is she talking about?
"No... I hadn't seen that in my life."
Her eyes grew cold, making me flatten my ears.
She smiled.
My ears twitched. I don't think I was supposed to hear that. The words she spoke sounded like the strange language my mother would speak at random.
I waited for her next question. And waited.
She didn't say anything for a while.
Maybe... "... Am I free to go?"
"Sure," She was still smiling, "Go. Why don't you take the biscuits with you for your troubles?"
"N-no. I'm okay."
"I insist."
I grabbed the biscuits, "Can I leave now?"
She just smiles.
Indeed Ma is always right.
I cast invisibility on myself and walked away. I shiver when I saw that she starts to clean her spear by wiping it on the tablecloth.
Yeah. I'm not staying here any longer.
Quickly I transformed into my bestial state, sorry Ma, and scampered away as fast my paws can take me.
Freyian's Perspective
I took out my dear blade. Taking the weapon, I dragged my dagger across the blood droplets she left behind while letting my magic flow through to it.
"Follow."
The blade greedily sucked in her blood and within seconds, started to chase after Veil midair. I turned myself invisible and followed it.
It leads me all around the city before stopping. I looked down and see Veil nervously turn herself visible in an alleyway. Her ears were changing directions constantly, trying to hear any sort of danger.
Finally, the girl relaxed and swiftly climbed up over two stories before breaking into a hotel room through the balcony. I lower myself and watched her through the windows. She was in her human form sitting on the bed. Veil took out the biscuits I gave her and a bottle of orange juice. With delight not unlike a child, she drank the juice and ate the strawberry biscuits first, then the red bean biscuits. She left behind the other biscuits, placing them on the table beside her.
Suddenly she grabbed a bottle of water from her bag and poured it all over her head. Her hair starts to turn a clear white at the contact with water and sprouts started to grow out of her. My heart dropped. This appearance only lasted for an instant. Veil yawned and stretched, before curling up.
I clutched my spear.
What a little liar.
