The pair was travelling through the fields on the south side of the wall with and finally reached their destination while it was still dawn.

The soldiers patrolling the wall were not as frequent as that on the west wall which was heavily guarded and functioned as the main entrance-exit to the town. There were much less monsters compared to east side of the wall, where the forest was.

Although the kids were told stories and were warned not to go outside the walls other than the west side, the duo's curiosity made them let go of all the precautions.

They were standing on the banks of the river near the town. This river provided the town with water and fishes and helped in irrigation of the fields as well. The river was quite wide and the current was above average. They have already visited this place regarding a myth of gigantic golden color carp.

When Satvik first heard about this local legend he was very confused. It was similar to stories of those golden fish being flushed down the toilet only to become behemoth later.

Satvik walked towards Danny and said, "You know I have already been here a dozen times."

"Have some patience bro, you won't regret it, I swear it on my family name."

Danny's gaze was fixed towards the middle of the river. Satvik stood behind him while controlling his urge to go back.

Then Satvik heard flapping sound coming from one of the fishnets nearby. He looked around and found a fishing boat aground with fishing net still attached to it.

He poke Danny's shoulder and said, "There's something caught in that fishing net over there."

Danny brushed of his hand and said, "Don't lose your concentration and just wait for it."

Satvik sighed and went near the fishing boat and started opening the net.

When he undid the net the struggle of what was stuck in the net came to a halt. Then Satvik crouched further near the river to see what type of fish was caught in the fishnet.

When he was few inches away from the water he saw two fiery pearls inside the net.

When he was about to put his arm inside the river to takeout the pearls, the pearls started charging towards him and when they were close enough Satvik's expression changed.

He jerked his arm back and fell on his butt while his gaze was fixed on the shoreline.

While breaking the water, humanoid figure came out.

Satvik pupils dilated in surprise and he thought to himself, 'holy mackerel, it's a mermaid.'

The mermaid had turquoise blue hair which covered her bountiful chest and her skin colour was borderline white as if she was a corpse.

Her fiery red pupils were fixed on Satvik as if they were scanning him. Satvik also concentrated his mana in his pupils and activated his ability as well.

His jet black pupils were replaced with Scarlett red pupils for few seconds before turning back to their original hue.

The mermaid's aura was crimson red. This was the first time he has seen someone with crimson red aura.

While Satvik was mulling over his thoughts with his hands holding his head due to the pain from using the ability the mermaid's expression also changed.

Now her pupil's hue changed to lilac and her facial expressions were that of astonishment and curiosity.

She tried to close the gap between the two but before she could move towards him, Satvik shouted on top his lungs and called for his friend.

"DANNY!"

"Oh shut up for god's sake! I don't want to miss this opportunity otherwise, I will have to wait for another 10 years." said Danny while fuming. He didn't even gave a single glance to Satvik.

Satvik felt he was wrong and was about to curse him when suddenly the mermaid jumped out of water and landed on top of Satvik and his face was planted in her bountiful chest.

Satvik was happy that the Gods have granted him the pleasure to enjoy this cliché scenario.

The mermaid lifted her torso bringing end to Satvik's short lived Nirvana.

Then she opened her lips as if to speak but what came out was only gibberish. But, Satvik didn't care. In his whole past lifetime he has never seen such beautiful eyes and he was already lost in them.

The mermaid's lips kept on moving and then out of nowhere she moved close to Satvik's neck and bit him on his shoulder.

"Ouch!" Satvik blurted in pain and it broke his stupor.

Hearing his friends pain filled cry, Danny turned his gaze towards him.

He then rushed to rescue his friend from the mermaid while shouting and throwing whatever he could find on the ground at her.

The mermaid dodged Danny's attack and in one fluent movement summersaulted back in the river.

When Danny reached Satvik he lifted him up from the ground and asked Satvik what happened.

Satvik narrated the whole scenario while only leaving details about his ability.

"What the hell! I have never heard about a mermaid trying to eat a human" said Danny with surprise.

Satvik cursed his luck and stood up while applying pressure on the bite mark to ensure he was not bleeding.

Danny examined the bite mark on Satvik's neck and looked at him with pity which irked Satvik.

"Why didn't you look at me when I called you the first time?" asked Satvik while growling.

"Ha ha ha ha" Danny laughed dryly while rubbing back of his head awkwardly. Then he pointed towards the river and said, "because of that."

Satvik turned his gaze towards where he was pointing with annoyance. Then he saw many mermaids swimming and jumping out of the river.

The whole group was moving upstream which astonished Satvik and he forgot about his pain.

Satvik's round eyes were focused on the river. It was truly a sight to behold.

Danny looked at Satvik with smug expression. He somehow came to know about this phenomenon through one of the stories he read in a book.

According to the story, the mermaid's travel from one end to another of the river once every 10 years to shift their settlement.

While they were observing the scene, a pair of lilac eyes were fixed on Satvik before she turned around and swam away.

When Satvik came back to his house Aisha was furious. She had already seen little blood stains on his shirt from the bite mark.

They thought that the kids had gone out of the wall and were attacked by a monster.

Danny's parents were well acquainted with Dhruv and Aisha. So when the parents of Danny were involved he disclosed everything to them like a chatterbox. The whole investigation into the myths was sung by Danny like a songbird.

Satvik could feel his ears bleed when he was reprimanded by Aisha, who was almost in tears while scolding him.

They have agreed to let him take cattle's to pastures on the west side, but the duo went to south side of the wall which was relatively not so child friendly and they went beyond the grasslands and ventured near the river. According to both the parents this was like the biggest crime the kids could have done.

After giving him an earful, Aisha made Satvik swear to never go out on any other side except the west one, until he's old enough. She was ready to stop Satvik's trip outside altogether but Satvik pleaded her not do so.

And with that the adventures of myth busters came to an end.

Satvik was lying on his bed while caressing the bite mark. It neither hurt nor itched, but had turned into blue as if poisoned.

His parents had taken him to a healer's clinic for opinion on the bite mark but he told them that there was nothing to worry about and the wound will cure soon only leaving a mark on him.

That night Satvik swore that he'll have his revenge on that mermaid who had brought an end to his adventures.
