"Maa, why did you have to leave your parent's place?" asked a small girl while her head was lying in her mother's lap.
"It was because of your father," said a mature woman while caressing the child's head lovingly.
"My parents were against the thought of me marrying a person from the human race," she said with a sigh and continued.
"So when they found out that I've married your father, they banished me from the village and told me to never come back."
"Was your village a nice place?" asked the child.
"It was the best place. There were streams full of sweet water, trees and orchids of sweet and sour fruits, and lots of friendly people" said the woman while reminiscing.
"Can we go there someday?" asked the girl looking up at her mother from the lap with an innocent gaze.
"Of course, when your grandfather and grandmother see how nice and cute girl Kavya is, they will forgive me," said the woman while bawling a fist.
"I have a question Maa, if I married someone I love, will you banish me as well?" asked the girl wondering aloud, not knowing what her words actually meant.
"Hehe, of course not. I will be grateful to the man for taking such a troublesome person away from me" said the woman laughing dryly and playfully teasing the young girl.
"I'm not troublesome. I'm a very good girl!" said the girl with puffed-up cheeks mocking anger at her mother.
"But I really hope that you find true love," said the woman while smiling gently...
"Aaah!!!"
"Did you enjoy it?" asked a man while getting off and lying beside the woman. He was panting heavily after the intercourse.
They both were on the bed naked and only half covered by a messed-up bedsheet.
The woman just stared at the ceiling with a dead gaze and wondered why at this particular moment she was remembering the conversation she had with her mother when she was young.
"Tch! that's the worst part about renting you," said the man and left the room after putting on his clothes hurriedly.
The woman just stayed in the bed like a dead body. A woman entered the room soon after with fresh clothes and a bucket filled with warm water.
"Tch!" the moment she saw the woman in the bed she clicked her tongue.
"You neither react nor protest and they treat you like some dead body used for pleasure. There are so many injuries and bruises all over your body. You are even bleeding, get a grip Kavya!" said the woman with sorrowful eyes.
The woman on the bed didn't react while the other one cleaned her body and applied ointment.
"I'll ask the boss to let you rest for the day. Here are some fruits, at least eat them" she said and kept a plate full of assorted fruit on the side table of her bed and then she left.
Kavya turned her head towards the side table and her gaze landed on the fruit knife. Kavya sat up and picked up the fruit knife. She moved her finger next to the blade to check its sharpness.
She knew very well that she couldn't harm her owner who had put this slave collar around her neck and neither could she remove the slave collar.
The moment she would aim the knife at her owner she would suffer a jolt in her body and won't be able to move. There's only one way left out of this situation for her.
Once she was assured of the sharpness she pressed it on her left wrist and made a huge gash to insure that she cut the veins of her wrist.
Slowly, bit by bit she was losing blood and a maniacal smile appeared on her face.
For her dying was like freedom from this misery and her last hope, she was ready to be embraced by death itself.
With a gentle smile, she closed her eyes, hoping she never wakes up again.

Kavya felt the warmth of someone caressing her head.
She opened her eyes and looked around and found herself in a smaller body of a child.
When she looked up her indigo eyes met the gaze of another woman.
The woman looked similar to a person she deeply wished to see for the past 7 years, it was her mother.
The woman had similar features except for her eyes. When Kavya looked into her eyes, it was like seeing in the endless night sky where the stars shined brightly.
"Maa?" Kavya asked with doubt.
The woman didn't say anything and kept caressing her head with a gentle smile.
"You are not my mother," said Kavya with a heavy voice and almost teary eyes.
"I'm not your mother. I guess this person's appearance was the best one to meet you" said the woman.
"Who are you? Why are you doing this to me? Why are you playing with my emotions?" asked Kavya while tears were flowing down her cheeks.
"I have many names but people close to me call me Maya and children call me Maa as well. You can choose whatever seems suitable to you" said the woman and continued.
"I never meant to play with your emotions, it's just that whenever any person looks at me, to them my physical appearance is similar to the person they have a deep desire to see," said the woman while wiping Kavya's tears.
"So in your case, it was your mother," she said with a gentle smile.
The girl just nodded and stared at the woman and then questioned, "So I'm dead right? I don't have to live in that hell, right?"
"You are still alive child," said Maya.
"No, no, no I just want to die peacefully," said Kavya while shaking with fear.
Maya hugged her and said, "You don't have to be afraid, child. From now on you are not alone."
"ha ha ha! 'Not afraid,' 'not alone,' what are you talking about, Maa?" said Kavya with a sarcastic laugh.
"You're now under my care. Your parents have made a great sacrifice for this world, to ensure that this world stays safe for you. So it's time for us to handle our end of the bargain" said Maya.
"You know something about my parent's death?" asked Kavya.
"I am a Goddess child, of course, I know," said Maya and continued.
"Your mother was the daughter of a Clan leader. So in order to make your clan submit, the people of Baimum Theocracy wanted to use her as a hostage. Your mother was killed by one of the Priestesses' followers because she never disclosed the location of the mysterious village where she was born"
Kavya nodded while tears started to flow from her eyes. Her mother used to tell her so many stories about how great and beautiful the village where she came from was.
"What happened to my father?" she asked crying.
"Your father was enraged. As a human, he was a follower of Ashanti too but after her wife was killed in the name of the Lord he so cherished, he joined the ranks of believers of some people call false gods," said Maya and continued.
"He was the leader of the last group of our believers and to ensure the safety of this world and yours specifically he sacrificed his soul in order to ensure the birth of our Lord Apostle who will save this world and you" Maya explained.
Kavya heard everything but she didn't pay any attention to the details. All she heard was that her mother and father were dead because of Lord Ashanti.
Her resentment towards the god grew but she knew that she was weak. She could not save herself let alone avenge her parent's death against a God.
"You're not weak child, not anymore," said Maya.
Kavya looked at her in surprise and thought 'I didn't say any of that.'
"Hehe I'm a goddess child, whatever's on your mind isn't hidden from me," said Maya and continued.
"Though we wanted to help you for the past 7 years, we were restricted. But now as our influence has been growing again due to the hard work of our Apostle we will definitely help you."
"I will grant you my blessing so that you have a chance to stand up against evil. You will still be too weak to get out of your situation but my blessing was never meant for strength" Maya paused to ensure Kavya was able to keep up with her explanation.

"My blessing was meant for sly and cunning people and who can be more cunning than a fox, right?" said Maya with a wink.
Kavya stared at her with a poker face and ignored her pun remark.
"Ahem! And when the time is right, you will have the chance to meet your savior" said Maya while ignoring Kavya's cold gaze.
"I lost you in between, can you explain it in a better way and more briefly?" questioned Kavya while shaking her head.
"We are out of time child. You will understand everything as time goes on. You have a very important role to play, always remember that....."
As soon as Maya finished her sentence Kavya's surroundings changed and she found herself in a room that she has been to million times.
"What were you thinking stupid girl," said a woman with tears in her eyes.
She was the same person who had taken it upon herself to clean and feed Kavya. She had rushed Kavya to the healer to save her life.
Kavya didn't say anything and just thought of a word, 'Status' and soon a holographic projection appeared in front of her.

But now she had a blessing of a Goddess. Then she remembered what the goddess said, 'who can be more cunning than a fox.' A sadistic smile appeared on Kavya's lips.
She knew very well how to use her current power to her benefit.
Then she remembered what the owner of the establishment said to her on her first day, 'Girl, you can bring this world to its knees if you wanted.'
'This is the place from where I will build my empire' she thought. Unaware of her destiny which was already written and set in motion.
