Chapter 1 – little girl

"Will you take me to the dungeon?"

On the way to a certain dungeon, I met a little girl.

A girl with golden shoulder-length hair hidden by a hood attached to a large, tattered robe. She had called out to various people, but none of them dared to take a girl, who was short in stature and probably around ten years old.

"Someone, somebody... me..."

The girl, with teary eyes calls out to a party heading to the dungeon. However, some people look at her with ridicule while others pretend she's not there... and some spit.

It's natural. You never know what's going to happen in the dungeon. Why would anyone risk their life by taking a girl with them?

"Brother, take me with you..."

And the girl who came up to me asked with teary eyes in her eyes. I wondered why she was doing that, so I asked the girl about it.

"Why do you want to enter the dungeon?"

I ask, patting her head.

"I want to go into the dungeon and earn some money..."

If you look closely, the girl's clothes were really tattered, and it wouldn't be surprising to think she was a slave. In this world the gap between being rich and poor is wide, poor children were often waiting in front of the dungeon to receive some alms.

Besides, I knew the girl wasn't a slave.

This means that they are so destitute that they could fall into slavery at any time.

The reason why I knew she wasn't a slave.

【Detailed Appraisal】

This was my skill.

Skills are innate talents, and the types and numbers of skills that each person has are varied.

When someone reaches the age of fifteen, they go to an appraisal office and are examined. This is how it is for ordinary people.

At the time, I dreamed of becoming a first-class adventurer, so I was excited about the skill appraisal... and despaired of the results.

There are some who lack useful skills but have become decent adventurers, even if not first-class adventurers, depending on their efforts. It was only recently that I realized that it was too early to give up.

Of course, he has a few appraisal skills——。 I didn't have any trouble getting a job at an appraisal office. However, my skills seemed to be different from other people's appraisal skills, and I could understand the skills in more detail.

Specifically, while others with a similar skill to mine could only see [Magic Skill] in other people's appraisals, to me it appeared as [Fire Magic Skill, Level 1], which meant that I was able to get more detailed information.

The displayed "level" seems to be proficiency, most people that came to the appraisal ceremony were [Level 1] while others were [Level 5] and others were as high as [Level 20].

However, I'm not sure that skill will help me become an adventurer. Still, dreaming of quick riches while adventuring is a bit hard a thing to give up on. As long as I have my appraisal skill getting a job at an appraisal office would be easy if things get dicey.

Then, in order to become an adventurer, which is my dream, I gathered some armor and knocked the gate at the Adventurer's Guild.

Once I managed to become a [Level 1] adventurer and was given a card I went straight to the dungeon's entrance.

There, in the entrance, was the girl no one wants to deal with. I guessed she missed time for her appraisal ceremony.

There are those who obtain skills even without the appraisal ceremony, but it is said that all your skills won't appear until one comes of age.

And, even if one doesn't participate on the appraisal ceremony when coming of age, a person can still get appraised for a steep fee. Those who get appraised more than once are often nobility.

Thanks to my [detailed appraisal] I can see she is beyond the age for the appraisal ceremony.

[White Adventurer's Certificate, Level 1]

[Holy Magic, Level 1]

[Fire Magic, Level 1]

[Magic power enhancement, Level 10]

When it comes to magic, there's hardly anyone better than her, that's the impression i get of her after the appraisal. Moreover, she's still growing... she's incredibly talented.

And the fact she possesses an adventurer card means she's over fifteen years old, which is the minimum age one needs to get a card issued.

All in all, it seems she was too poor to attend to the appraisal ceremony.

Although the price the appraisal ceremony was not particularly high, they still cost money, that meant poor children rarely got to participate in them.

She possesses incredible skills and is asking me to join my party, I don't have any fighting skills. so, once she asked me to take her with me, I nodded involuntarily at her.
