Rajie and the others were able to safely meet again on the island that I had prepared for them. We decided to save the talk about rewards and other matters for the morning, after we all had rested.
After everyone had finished eating the breakfast that I prepared, Rajie and Noalia proceeded to tell me something completely unexpected.
For the reward this time, they were planning to give me everything in the treasure vault aside from the gold coins.
“Yes. That’s what Noalia-sama has decided after our discussion about the matter.” (Rajie)
“…Old man, I’m fine with it, but is this really okay? You can’t ask me for it back later, you know?” (Bouchi)
“It’s already too much treasure for us. Besides, we were originally only planning to bring back around half of the gold coins. It’s all thanks to you that we were able to get all of it. We couldn’t have asked for a better return.” (Rajie)
“…Old man, you do know that most of the things in there were way more valuable than the gold coins, right?” (Bouchi)
“Well, yes. There were some artifacts among the treasures. But Bouchi, I don’t see the need for them in this safe haven you’ve prepared for us. Even if monsters were to appear, we have excellent guards.” (Rajie)
He was probably referring to the maids.
“So you really don’t need them?” (Bouchi)
“Yes, please take them with you.” (Rajie)
It was far more than just a pleasant miscalculation. I thought that I would only get a quarter of the treasure or even less. I never would have expected to gain more than two-thirds of the treasure in the end.
Well, the gold coins alone were worth ¥10 billion, so there would definitely be no problem with surviving from now on. The supplies included in the fortune were more than enough for me to use.
After all, it was a lump sum of ¥20 billion, all at once. But that didn’t mean all of it would be liquidated.
There were many artifacts included in the treasure, and it was more useful to keep some of them as they were. I would have to go through them and think about whether I would need them in the future before converting them into money.
Even still, that made it clear that this reward was more than sufficient.
“Well then, there’s something I’d like to request of you from now on.” (Rajie)
“Food, medical supplies, and other necessities, right?” (Bouchi)
“Precisely. Can you provide those things?” (Rajie)
“Hey, I told you that you don’t need to thank me anymore. I only joined hands with you because it was beneficial to me. And plus, you certainly paid up on the compensation. I think I can trust you as a business partner, and I would like to maintain this connection in the future.” (Bouchi)
He was a client worth at least ¥10 billion, so I wanted to keep a good relationship with him in the future.
“I am glad to hear you say that. Then, let’s get on with the business negotiations right away.” (Rajie)
Rajie gave me a list of necessities he would need in the future, and we began to negotiate the costs of those items.
As expected of a former merchant, it was hard for me to conveniently raise the price of the items as I pleased with him.
It was troublesome in that sense, but since Rajie and the others had made me plenty of money already, I compromised somewhat from my end. That being said, I was engaging in trade with him at reasonable prices.
Rajie and the others didn’t have any knowledge in survival or building houses, but Alicia and Tria came from hunter families and used to live in the forest, so they had a wealth of knowledge in those areas.
As long as they had the right tools, they could technically manage the rest as long as they worked together. Even still, the maids were the only ones who could do proper carpentry work, so it would still take time to build a proper house.
As a result, they decided to buy a house from me instead.
Fortunately, they had plenty of money, so they proposed buying a house big enough for all of them to live in.
There were all kinds of stately mansions available, but it wasn’t like there were going to be a huge number of people living with them. In the end, they chose a house with the minimum number of living spaces for their purposes.
However, as far as a group consisting of former royalty and a former minister, it was still a residence befitting their status. They ended up spending ¥500,000,000 to construct a beautiful home on their island.
In the previous era, land used to be expensive. But since they had purchased this island, they were able to purchase the house at its intrinsic price.
Well, I was saying ‘house’, but it was still a spectacular estate, modeled in architecture that was still very familiar to them despite them being from another world.
The house was packed to the brim with the massive amount of food provisions they had purchased from me, along with clothing and other supplies.
“So this is where we’ll be starting our new life…?” Nike said, filled with deep emotion as he looked up at the mansion.
“At any rate, you’re really a surprise, Bouchi-sama. To think that you would be able to build such a mansion in an instant…” (Noalia)
“Yes, I agree with what Noalia-sama said. Are you even a huron?” (D’esta)
“How rude. You’ll just have to get it in your head that this is the skill I have.” (Bouchi)
Still, if I were in D’esta’s shoes, I might have thought something similar.
“There, there, everything’s fine, isn’t it? The palace is good and all, but I’m looking forward to taking care of Noalia-sama and the others in a mansion like this.” (Alicia)
“Me too. This is our new workplace, after all. I will put all my heart and soul into my service here.” (Tria)
Alicia and Tria seemed to like the place as well.
