“An owl…? No, a sonic owl? What’s a sonic owl doing here?” (Ze’ev)
“You know about this species, Ze’ev?” (Julaf)
“Yeah. It’s a gentle monster. But the color of this one’s plumage is a bit unusual…” (Ze’ev)
Sol had leveled up and evolved, so it was only natural that she would look different from an average sonic owl.
Then, Sol lifted her wing and pointed in a certain direction.
“…Are you telling us to go in that direction?” (Ze’ev)
Sol nodded her head in response.
“Huh? No, but if the soldiers find us…” (Julaf)
“No, I heard something up there just now. Did you do something about those soldiers?” (Ze’ev)
Sol nodded once again.
“Thanks. Hey, Julaf. I think we should get out of here right now, while we still can.” (Ze’ev)
Naturally, I was the one who had ordered Sol to neutralize those soldiers on top of the outer wall.
Ze’ev had helped Hakumen enter the imperial capital and assisted in explaining the situation to King Dragia during my audience with him.
It was just a small favor, but I asked Sol to make a move to properly pay him back for it.
But this was where my intervention ended. I would be leaving the rest to Ze’ev and Julaf. I didn’t know what they would do in the future, and the rest was none of my business.
“Anyway, there were some nice returns from this.” (Bouchi)
I turned off the monitor and lay down on my bed.
“That Vodara fellow sure is something else, huh?” (Shiki)
“Certainly. But I was curious about the person behind him.” (Kaza)
Just like Shiki was saying, Vodara was still concealing his true strength, but, even so, he appeared that powerful. Even in a situation like that, he was still able to escape.
Or perhaps his goal from the beginning was to escape from that situation. If he wanted to, he could have easily defended himself.
And then there was that robed figure that Kaza was curious about. If he was really the Curseweaver, I still couldn’t tell what kind of existence it was through the monitor. All it did was stand there after all.
One more thing was the fact that Vodara was looking for the treasure that was in the underground ruins. It was clear that he wanted the [Gear]. He ended up getting away again, but if he went out of his way to come back here for it, it must be something important.
“But it would have been nice if someone as troublesome as Vodara had never come to our world in the first place.” (Bouchi)
He should have just stayed as a tyrannical ruler in the other world. He was someone I never wanted to get involved with.
If it became known that I had the [Gear], he would definitely seek me out. The fact that he didn’t come right to where I was immediately meant that he didn’t know exactly where the [Gear] was, which was a relief.
Or should I return this [Gear] to the underground ruins while I still can…?
But I would rather sell it than throw it away. It was such a valuable item that even a person like Vodara wanted it. It would surely sell for a high price. It couldn’t be sold at the moment, but there might eventually be a way to do so.
The skill was being updated over time, allowing it to do more and more things. If I waited a little bit longer, perhaps I would even be able to sell the [Gear].
If not, it was also possible that there were items available that could appraise the [Gear].
…I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
Fortunately, Vodara didn’t know that I had the [Gear], and this place wasn’t so easy to find. I could use this time to plan various countermeasures.
I decided to gather Izu and the others to discuss a plan for the future.

“Alright, I’m done! Aika, please check it for me!” (Nike)
With a look of accomplishment on his face, Nike stood up from his chair. In his hands was a book—a Japanese writing textbook.
Onee-chan came up to him, took the text, and began to check his work.
“…Mmm! Amazing, Nike-kun! Not a single mistake!” (Aika)
Receiving my older sister’s praise, Nike smiled broadly.
Currently, my onee-chan and I were living in a place that could only be described as an isolated island in the middle of the ocean.
According to Bouchi-kun, who had brought us here, this place was in the sea southwest of Japan.
Our life on this island began when I said to Bouchi-kun that I wanted to help him.
It was surprisingly comfortable here. The climate was mild, the environment allowed us to be self-sufficient, and, above all, we weren’t bothered by monsters, which meant that we could let our youngest sister Mahina play without any worries.
Even so, it wasn’t completely free of monsters, so Nike’s maid was always watching over her.
Nike had an older sister named Noalia. I heard that they, along with their grandfather Rajie, were from another world and that, in particular, Nike and Noalia were of very high status.
So at first, both my older sister and I called them Nike-sama and Noalia-sama, but they asked us to refer to them casually, saying that their status meant nothing in this world. Plus, we were to be their Japanese teachers, so we started calling them Nike-kun and Noalia-san.
Every day for two or three hours, we would teach Nike and the others Japanese in the house where they lived.
“I’m finished as well. Koine-san, please take a look.” (Noalia)
Noalia, who looked eye-catchingly beautiful even though she was just sitting down and studying, handed me her textbook, just as Nike-kun had done a moment ago.
