Lance's mother ran outside immediately to touch her son when she is stopped. A smile on Lance's father's face as he pulled her away from Lance's grip who was trying desperately to reach out to his mom. They both know that this could be a sign.

"Lance..." His father mumbled.

He had a horrified expression on his face just as his mother did. The two stared at each other not knowing what to say or do anymore.

"You see Lance...we were never married..." His father's words creaked on his lips.

"But he is our son!" She shouted.

Lance watched in horror at the scene happening. He wanted to run over and save her but his feet glued themselves to the ground unable to move. Thrusting his arm back he pulled a small knife from the sleeve of his shirt stabbing into the woman's chest she screamed out in agony falling onto her knees.

The man then turned towards him his eyes filled with disgust. He didn't hesitate before swinging the knife in a wide arc. Lance closed his eyes waiting for the sharp pain to come but it never came.

The man then turned towards him his eyes filled with disgust. He didn't hesitate before swinging the knife in a wide arc. Lance closed his eyes waiting for the sharp pain to come but it never came. Opening his eyes to see why to find his mother's blood ability shielding Lance from his father's attack, his father brought his hand out at the mother of his child defending his child.

"Lance never acquired your power, but mine! I think you are just angry!" She shouted.

"Fucking bitch!"

The father shouted pushing his wife off of herself as he tried to grab the small boy. But Lance was faster jumping out of reach, running behind the sheild his mother created for him. He stood there watching as tears fell from his mother's red eyes. Watching his father slowly approach her.

"I gave everything for you!" She screeched.

Before either of their eyes he felt a force push past them sending them backward. The force pushed him against a nearby tree, knocking the wind from his lungs as he struggled to get up. His body felt numb and he felt like if he moved at all his bones would break.

Lance's mother pushed him back. He started to notice the numbers above their heads. He stood there in awe as he nearly forgot he had come back to stop this man and couldn't in this ten-year-old body could not handle yet.

He felt as though he had been punched in the gut. His father was much scarier than he anticipated.

"Don't touch him!" His mother shrieked stepping between the two again. "Don't touch my child."

His father snorted looking at his son. "Your child?" He scoffed, taking one last step towards the two. As he did so Lance noticed his arms glowed bright purple.

With an angry yell Lance jumped forward tackling his father into the dirt. He heard another thud as they collided with the ground before Lance was suddenly hit again sending him crashing back.

"Mom! Stop this, please! I am back to pack and will be leaving!" Lance shouted.

He didn't even realize what he was doing until after he said those words because he saw the fear in his mother’s face. His father seemed shocked by the sudden action as well but soon anger took over the surprise as he pushed himself up.

"Good boy now go upstairs..." He grinned.

Lance scrambled to his feet running upstairs with his hands covering his ears, blocking the noises out of his room. Lance sat down next to his bed staring blankly ahead as he listened to the sounds of his father getting ready.

Getting up he packed his clothing and a couple of books before walking back downstairs silently and making sure to close the bedroom door gently. Walking to the living room he opened the front door slowly peeking out.

"Dad, I am done packing!" He yelled.

Silence answered him. Lance turned around looking behind him to see nothing. Frowning he stepped outside shutting the door quietly. He looked around the yard before noticing the car parked at the side. Walking over to it he opened the passenger side window slowly.

He waited for almost ten to fifteen minutes before he strolled back inside. Taking another quick look out the window he saw no movement and no sign of anyone. Closing the window he walked into the kitchen, stopping dead in his tracks.

It took all of his concentration to keep his mind focused and not let his feelings overwhelm him. The only reason he kept going was because he promised himself that he would do it no matter what happened.

A small knock on the front door scared Lance.

"Who is it?" He called.

Footsteps echoed throughout the house before silence once more replaced it. Taking deep breaths Lance forced himself to calm down, forcing his emotions into submission, focusing on what had to be done.

"Lance? Is this where you live?" A voice rang out.

He gawked back at the figure standing in front of his house.

"Won't you come inside Lance? It seems like we've got some catching up to do." She smiled.

His friend from school stood there in the doorway smiling at Lance. His friend from school stood there in the doorway smiling at Lance. He hesitated before deciding to follow her inside.

“You didn’t come to school today…are you okay?” Suri asked.

"I am amazed you even found this place!" Lance shouted.

Suri laughed before sitting down in a chair across from him. He became nervous looking around to see if his Dad was there yet.

"I asked the teacher for your address and said I would take care of it." Suri responded.

She looked at Lance who had a confused expression on his face.

“Why?”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Suri smiled softly.

"Do you have anything else to tell me?" Lance asked.

Lance sighed before leaning back in his chair. He thought back to all of his classes. All of his classmates talking and laughing like normal while he was sitting alone. Even Shirothought most was there but not talking to him.

"No...look you shouldn't be here!" He mumbled, shaking his head.

Suri frowned slightly before placing a warm hand on his shoulder.

"Listen Lance, I can tell you're not telling me something..." She replied softly.

Lance looked up to meet her gaze. Her eyes were full of concern and understanding.

"I am going to a different school now..." Lance admited.

He watched in shock as her brows furrowed. "Really? Why? Did something happen?"

Lance shook his head. "My parents made this decision recently…”

He paused thinking about how he was going to phrase what he was about to say. “…I was offered a scholarship to a different high school…and they chose…"

Suri’s expression softened before reaching for his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"I will miss you…" She whispered.

Lance nodded, squeezing her hand back. His smile grew wider and larger as he watched Suri's features turn into a soft smile. He knew this day would probably be hard, he knew that his parents had already given them a few days to prepare for this, but that doesn't mean he wasn't prepared for the reality. He wasn't ready to leave. Not ever.

Suddenly a loud bang erupted through the house making them jump in their seats. A large piece of wood slammed onto the ground making both girls gasp.

"Get out!" His mother' s muffled voice spoke through the door.

They stared at each other in confusion before rushing to open the door, pulling it aside only to find no one.

Suri gasped as her eyes locked on a large crack forming in one of the walls in the middle of the hallway. She immediately ran towards it. Lance followed closely behind her. They stood there staring at it for a few seconds.

"You should go now." Lance said sadly.

Suri smiled at him before hugging him tightly. Lance tensed up for a moment before relaxing when she pulled away.

"I'll be back as soon as possible." She smiled.

"But I will be boarding with other kids!" He yelled.

"If something happens I will know." She winked.

"Alright." He whispered.

She turned before leaving. Lance watched as she disappeared into the distance. He looked back at the crack again, he couldn’t wait for her to return. He heard the other door open to see his Dad peeking in.

“Ready to go?”

Lance could only nod his head up and down silently heading out following far behind.
