Chapter 28: Mission

In the evening, Saibus and Trinity are in the kitchen preparing their dinner. Trinity cooks, and Saibus helps her as a clerk. Although, the preparation is going well. Today Trinity decided to make potato soup with bird's tongue and pieces of meat. She also asked Saibus to prepare a rice salad to accompany the soup. Saibus finished preparing the rice salad, which he brought to the table. Trinity follows him and sets the soup down next to the rice salad. They help themselves and begin eating as they discuss their next assignment.

"So, what's the mission this time?"  Saibus asks.

"We have to get to Ard Carraigh, the capital of Kaedwen."  Trinity answers.

"Kaedwen? This will be the first time I have gone. What is the mission about."  Saibus said.

"The king of Kaedwen thinks that some court members want to make a coup and overthrow him. However, he doesn't know if it will be done violently or not. So he wants us to infiltrate their homes and look for any evidence of them. revolt."

"Wait, our mission is to sneak into the residences of the various noble suspects and search their belongings for evidence, if there is any. And all of this according to the suspicions of the king of Kaedwen, known for his insanity."  sums up Saibus.

Trinity nods at the Saibus summary.

"I think this is a shitty mission, and the League shouldn't take it. There's nothing Kaedwen can do to us if the League denies his request."  Saibus says.

"I agree with you, but I accepted this assignment for a reason," Trinity said.

Saibus looks at Trinity. "And what is that reason?"  Saibus asks.

"..."

Saibus fixes Trinity to make her tell him the reason.

"I think something is going on in Kaedwen, and I want to see what it is,"  Trinity replied after the silence.

Saibus sighs after hearing Trinity's response. He does not sigh for his reason but for the silence and the dramatic effect she wants to install.

"When do we leave ?"  Saibus asks.

"We are due to be at Ard Carraigh in two weeks. However, we will leave in a few days while we prepare for the journey and the mission that awaits us."  replica Trinity.

Saibus nods and the two continue the discussion as they finish their meals. After completing their meals, they washed the dishes, and each did their business. Saibus went to shower and put on his paja s. Saibus gets out of the shower and goes into his room. He maintains his swords before heading to his off e. He opens his sketchbook and begins to leaf through t. The notebook contains many drawings, diagrams, or sketches on various subjects ranging from weapons and armor to household products to magic.

Saibus tries to recreate Earth devices using ma c. But, he's not good enough at rune magic to craft durable, long-lasting devices.

Saibus goes to the weapon sect n. He looks at his drawing of those twin swords and tweaks it before moving on to another picture in the armor section.

A week later, Saibus and Trinity can be seen on horseback riding a road made of dirt and mud. It's been a day since they left for Ard Carraigh. They e h have a bag with their things. That s e evening, Saibus and Trinity encamped in the forest at the bottom of the mountains bordering the kingdom of Kaedwen.

At night, bandits attacked their camp to be reduced to ashes by the magical defenses Trinity had installed.

The trip to Ard Carraigh was quite tricky. Climbing the main range that allows entering Kaedwen is very difficult to navigate. Nevertheless, t e two assassins could cross the mountain, killing two or three golems.

Six days after their departure, Trinity and Saibus are in front of the vast Ard Carraigh gate. The two-pass control d begin to cross the bridge connecting the town on the small island on the river banks. It took ten minutes t cross the bridge as Trinity took her time and admired the view.

They go through the second door that allows you to enter the city. Before seeing the kin, Trinity wanted to visit the city, but Saibus said nothing and followed his mentor. After an hour of seeing, Trinity takes Saibus past the royal palace. The guards arrest the two assassins. Saibus let Trinity talk to the guards directed to the king's study.

Saibus and Trinity arrive in front of the king's solar, which gives them entry permission. They enter the room and stand in fr t of the king. The room is like the rest of the ca le, luxurious.

Saibus stepped back and let Trinity speak to the king. Unfortunately, the discussion with t e king was concise and did not give more information to Trinity and Saibus to do their mission.
