Something stirred up a great commotion within the main headquarters of the Mercenary Association’s Planet Asia division.
It was all due to an official registration filed by Okeanos itself. And this was because the particular roll concerned a Cimon-class mobile assault base, which had never appeared again ever since humanity was turned into quantum data — until now, that is.
A ship with such high performance and power appearing in the current era was truly unprecedented.
To top it off, it was actually registered with Asia as its owner.
However, no matter what port within Planer Asia they checked, the Association officials failed to witness even the shadow of such a ship.
If it were unaffiliated, the presence of such a super relic would be enough to cause a war over its ownership. And even though that wasn’t the case, it was alarming enough that it was affiliated directly with Asia herself.
The Association surmised that there was a high chance the ship was going to be handed over to Metal Iris and Storm Hound — the two Forces that were said to have successfully rescued Asia. Thus, they quickly attempted to get in touch with the Defense Dome in which the two Forces were reported to be garrisoned, but they learned that both had sortied with all their personnel to an unknown destination.
The moment the officials heard it was a full deployment, they were immediately hit by a bad premonition.
And so, in a state of heightened alert, the Mercenary Association busied themselves with checking all seaports, airports, Fortress Areas, Defense Domes, and other independent facilities on the planet.
Meanwhile, the entire troops of Metal Iris and Storm Hound had arrived at a beach designated by Kou when he contacted them.
「It’s about time. Since he told us to gather all our troops and equipment out here, is Kou-kun finally going to bring us to his base?」
Jenny displayed an excited and curious expression as she gazed at the sea beyond the beach. Standing next to her were Blue and Rick.
「It’s gonna be impossible for even a large transport ship to handle this scale. No matter how impressive Kou-dono is, I still don’t believe he’ll be able to send out a large-class spaceship.」
「I’m really looking forward to what’s gonna appear since they did tell us we were gonna get rewarded for facilitating the exchange between Kou and the A Class Development Engineers.」
「Kou-dono increasing his skills and influence is a very desirable outcome for us as well, in any case.」
Rick squinted his eyes as he scanned the sky. There was no sign of anything arriving by air.
「It’s really impossible for us to anticipate just what that person is gonna bring out, I think.」
Rick also agreed with Blue’s evaluation. After all, the young man in question already brought out a drill tank capable of advancing underground the last time.
「There’s a transmission. –They’re about to arrive. Is it via transport plane? There’s no response in the sky at all though. We did come to the right place, didn’t we……?」
Jenny announced as she held a comm device in one hand. It seemed that Kou had contacted her.
「I’ve received a transmission as well. It looks like they really are going to arrive soon. It doesn’t look like they’re coming via air. Are they taking a land route?」
「That person is a bit weird, so……」
Blue pointed out to the sea. Jenny and Rick’s gazes followed the direction she was pointing toward.
The sea on the horizon suddenly parted, and a gigantic hull emerged from it. It was a distinctive triple-hulled ship. It definitely wasn’t a mere submarine. It was undoubtedly a spaceship capable of traversing and operating on land, sea, air, and outer space.
Due to the hull being too huge, the three’s sense of distance was affected, but they were at least sure it was on the larger end of ships.
The three looked on in utter amazement as they witnessed the scene.
Rick couldn’t help but turn to Blue. Blue couldn’t meet his questioning gaze.
The ship was heading straight toward them. It then moored itself about 500 meters from where the three were located.
It was so huge that they had to stretch their necks up to the heavens in order to gaze at just a part of it.
「……Yes. Jenny here. Oh, yes, roger that. Uh, okay. Understood. We’re supposed to board this ship, hangar carriers and all? I-I see. It seems to have plenty of space……」
Jenny’s tone was completely flat. Her eyes were also rapidly turning into dead fish eyes.
「Like I said, that person’s weird, so–」
After Blue muttered her piece the second time, the other two nodded deeply in understanding.
The three were led by Aki to the ship’s combat command center.
The rest of the Force members were busy touring the ship’s interior. Not one of them had experienced boarding a spaceship before after all.
「Thanks for coming guys. Welcome.」
Kou offered his thanks to the three. Aki stood beside him, acting as his assistant like usual. She was wearing her business suit and pencil skirt ensemble this time as well.
She then served tea to everyone present.
「You have something you wanna talk with us about?」
Jenny greeted Kou with a tired-sounding voice. She was almost a hundred percent sure that the young man was going to blurt out something totally outrageous again.
「Jenny, are you tired? I did hear that Metal Iris and Storm Hound had actually merged.」
「Technically, we’ve all joined Metal Iris as new members. We’re all one single team now.」
Rick gave more details about the merger. Familiars generally didn’t tend to take the lead. Hence, they opted to walk alongside Metal Iris instead.
「Then this will be quick. Actually, I have a request. Can we also join Metal Iris?」
「Eh?」
「You did invite me before, didn’t you? That’s why. I, Voy, Nyanta, Aki, and Aimer. We all wish to join Metal Iris. I don’t mind if you make use of this ship and our base facilities.」
「……」
「I’ll probably issue requests occasionally. They’ll be about liberating Fortress Areas and recovering Asia’s remaining data. That kind of stuff. It’s not an issue to accept requests from Force members, right?」
「……」
The room was then wrapped in complete silence.
The one who eventually broke it was Rick. He began to roar loudly in laughter.
Jenny’s sagging shoulders shivered in response while her gaze was trained on the floor.
Blue remained silent as she drank her tea. However, she seemed to be enduring the urge to laugh.
