I was in the living room sitting on the sofa, in the armchair beside it was my grandfather. In the old man's mouth was a straw cigarette, he pulled it out and exhaled the smoke through his nose.
"Jay, do you know why you've suffered all these years?" he asked.
"I'm weak."
"Yes, but that's not the main reason."
"So which would it be?" I asked confused.
My grandfather stubbed out his cigarette by pressing down on the ashtray, with a yellow smile, he said.
"You have a very pure heart."
"What?"
"Have you thought about fighting your sister or the bullies? Have you thought about getting even with your childhood friend?"
"No."
My grandfather was right, I always accepted everything in silence. Why? I'm weak? Yes, but that's no excuse, I could have told someone other than my useless father and gotten help.
Thinking about my grandfather's words, everything became clear to me. The reason I never fought back was simple. My heart was too pure, I couldn't hurt people.
"Jay, if you don't want to suffer, don't be a sweet boy. My advice is: be nice only to those you think deserve your kindness."
"What about the rest?"
"Those who do nothing to harm you, but also do nothing to help you, you act with indifference. However, if you meet a bad person..."
"What do I do?"
"Be worse than that person."
A shiver runs through my body at the sight of the macabre smile on my grandfather's face.
Slowly, I open my eyes, interrupting the nostalgic dream I just had. It was already morning and the sun rays came through the window, illuminating the room.
I look to the side and see that Elena has already got up. I don't get up right away, my father only picks me up in the middle of the afternoon.
Lying down, I remember my two years in this city. During this period, my grandfather taught me boxing and a little jiu-jitsu. Also, he taught me, in case I didn't want to use either style, the famous street fight.
Street fights are basically pure violence, without rules and with a lot of cruelty. He taught me how to have an advantage over an opponent. Obviously, it was cheating.
How did my grandfather teach me all this? Hitting me, and hitting me a lot.
At the very least, I learned to fight and quickly put it into practice. Like? My peaceful school life was thanks to this. No matter the place, there are always bullies.
After learning the basics of fighting, and following my grandfather's advice to be cruel to others, I quickly resolved my problems at school. I started to enjoy being mean to my opponents.
Blackmail, exploitation, aggression, and a few other things. I started doing all of this, became what I feared most, a bully. However, I was the bully of bullies.
For a year and a half, I only did bad things to the people who did me first. I never did anything bad against the weak, not least because I knew what it was to be one.
During those two years, the darkness within my heart had made me an extremely cold person. I started to worry only about myself and what is mine.
If someone put their finger on Elena to hurt her, I would definitely kill that person. I became extremely possessive.
Do I care about what is mine, as for the rest? I am indifferent. If I saw that girl from my senior year of high school getting fucked in front of me again, I'm sure the expression on my face wouldn't change, and no negative feelings would overwhelm me.
After remembering these things, I got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Afterwards, I went to the kitchen, and had breakfast with Elena.
Over coffee, she gave me a key, and said it was to an apartment in city X. If I wanted a space to myself, I was free to stay in the place with no bills to pay.
After breakfast, I went to my grandfather's house. My stuff was all ready, before I went to Elena's house yesterday I spent the afternoon tidying up.

I didn't know if my dad would buy me school supplies, so I bought them at the local stationer. Classes in City X started a week ago, I hope I haven't missed any important content.
After a while, I had lunch with my grandfather. Around three in the afternoon, my father arrived to pick me up.
I put things in the car and said goodbye to my grandfather, and Elena. When I gave her a hug, she whispered some sweet words in my ear. I bet she will visit me in two weeks.
I got in the car.
"It's been a while since I saw you." said my father.
During these two years this man must have called me about 5 times, I remember that the year I moved to this city he forgot my birthday.
"Yes, it already does."
"You've changed a lot. How has your life been?"
"Normal."
"I understand."
We were silent the rest of the way, the atmosphere between us was unpleasant, but I didn't care.
After an hour of travel we arrived in city X. I was surprised by the growth of the city, many new buildings were built, the mall was renovated, and new establishments were opened.
My dad still lived in the same place, the only difference was that the house had undergone a renovation, making it look like the house was built recently.
I took my things from the car, and went up to my old room, after going downstairs I went to the kitchen to drink some water.
In front of the sink, washing some vegetables, was my stepmother. Her name is Isabella, she has long blonde hair, and a body similar to Elena. When she saw me, a happy smile came to her face.
"Jay, it's been a long time."
Seeing the smile, and the calm tone of his voice, a feeling of insecurity comes over me. I've never been able to see through that smile, and I never know what she's thinking. There were few times I saw her change her expression.
Isabella always has a kind aura, and a charming smile on her face, I don't remember seeing her making another expression, or conveying her feelings.
"It's good to have you back. Stefany was looking forward to seeing you."
"Serious?"
Stefany is Isabella's daughter, my stepsister and the devil who treated me badly when I was younger. Was she eager to see? No, fuck, I bet she just wants her slave back.
"Yes. It's been two years since you two saw each other."
"Speaking of her, where is she?"
"She went out with her friends from school, she won't be back until later."
"I see. I'm going up."
I went upstairs to my room and noticed my school uniform was on the table. Isabella probably bought it for me and left it here.
Tomorrow is Monday and will be my first day of school. I just want to have a peaceful life, and I will.
After organizing all the things in my room, someone opened the bedroom door.
I turned around to see, and came across a blonde girl, her hair was cut to her shoulders, and her face was very similar to Isabella's.
"Too long, loser."
Stefany, my everyday devil, had just entered.
