…4 years later

"He has not returned, has he?" Pakku asked his favorite disciple offhandedly.

Enyo shook his head. He has asked the same question every day since last weekend. Whom he is asking about, you might wonder? His grandson, who disappeared a month ago left behind a letter in his room.

(Dear grandpa, as you know well how much I respect our traditions and rituals. It was to be expected that I must proceed with this journey by myself after finding out about a certain old ritual that asks every newly graduated water-bending master to go on a journey to find his calling. I wish you to stay as healthy as you are when I return from my month-long journey.

Your sweetest grandson,

Arisu)

Since that fateful day, master Pakku is very grumpy and trigger happy to start screaming at every given opportunity. It is not as if he does not believe that Arisu cannot survive by himself in the icy cold of the north.

As far as Enyo knows his master, he has more praise for his grandson than himself at their age. It is well known that while Pakku considers Enyo to be his greatest student until now both in terms of ability and sincerity, it is not because Arisu is less talented than him.

In fact, the real reason why he is not considered the greatest disciple is that Arisu is so talented that Pakku only needed to show him the path of bending and Arisu trekked on that path on his own. He was capable of absorbing Pakku's teachings and converting them into his knowledge.

It will be not wrong to say that all the disciples adopted and inherited the teachings of Pakku while he alone was the one that absorbed it and made his own essence out of it that was combined with other modes of teachings to create a different and complex way of water bending.

Since it has been more than a few days from the expected arrival, many people have been worrying about him. Enyo himself does not think there is anything in the north that could possibly hurt that ice demon in human clothing.

He wields water in such a phenomenal way that Enyo sometimes wonders if the rumor of him being blessed by ocean and moon spirits is true.

…meanwhile dozens of miles away in northern glaciers

Arisu raised his hands and breathed on them, which created a bit of steam in his vision. He looked around the landscape. Everything was covered in pure white; it was hard to differentiate anything from the icy glaciers.

Arisu was extra vigilant since he left the northern tribe. The fact that he almost got sneak attacked by a group of armadillo wolves on the third day speaks volumes about the fact that how important it is to remain vigilant in places like this.

Arisu once again started walking uphill continuing to walk towards a destination that he has been moving for. He was aware that by now everyone must have started to make assumptions about why he has not returned.

After dozens of minutes, he finally reached the top of Ice hill. Opposite the hill was a forest that technically should not exist in this environment. In the middle of the forest was a natural pond of about a kilometer radius, which was covered in fog.

Arisu smiled at the site. He could finally see his destination. He would be able to see by himself what has been calling him for the past week.

He jumped in the air toward the forest and as gravity did its work and brought him back to the hill surface, a surfboard made up of ice materialized below his legs that encased his legs.

He then sliced his way across the hill riding it like a giant sea wave. It took him more than an hour to climb the hill but it only took him a few minutes to go downhill.

After reaching down, he took out a few dried jerkies that he made after hunting a Rabbitseal almost a week ago. As he walked into the forest, he started chewing on them to get some nutrients to replace the ones that were consumed today.

He was wearing special shoes that allowed him to contact the surface with his toes if he pulled a strap situated in his knees. As soon as he covered a few hundred meters, he would pull those straps and put pressure on his toes.

It was an advanced application of a technique he learned by observing panther dolphins. He named it ice sonar. As the name implies, it sends waves on a certain frequency into the ice around him that allows him to detect any hidden variables that he was not aware of until then.

It detects any creature that is underground or on the surface of the ice around him. It took him the majority of his time to master this art. He only just recently mastered it as it involves differentiating between many frequencies on the receiving end.

An influx of data that he has to sort out to convert into valuable information that could potentially make his life much easier to navigate.

There were a few hibernating animals sleeping inside the icy, potential prey and predators including venomous creatures but nothing to worry about if he did not disturb them.

Nothing was on the surface since you would be hard pressed to find any birds or insects in this part of the world except for the koala penguins. He walked slowly toward the pond. It was foggy, so he occasionally used ice sonar to check for any activity in the area.

The whole pond gave an otherworldly feel, which was hard to explain and a bit weird in the world of Avatar. Almost everything in this world has a surreal feeling.

It was at the bottom of the pond where he felt the attraction. Arisu looked left and right to confirm if there was anything unusual in the forest that he might have missed while standing on the pond.

Nothing seemed odd to him, so he decided to do what he came here for: to find out what was attracting him. He raised and circulated both of his hands in a circular manner, and the water from the pond rose and encased him in a ball of water. The inner layer of water continued to spin continuously as the outer surface hardened into ice before the sphere separated inside the pond.

Once inside the water, a tornado was created at the back of the sphere that pushed it into the depths much faster than gravity could. Unlike in the forest, in the pond, wildlife was much more active. Various kinds of fish and aquatic mammals were swimming in the water.

As you have it, the tornado and the sphere attracted many unwanted attractions. Fearful beings ran away as soon as the disturbance started, and territorial predators took this unfamiliar being as a challenge to their authority.

Arisu had his eyes closed, as there was almost no visible light in the pond to see in the first place. He was constantly relying on his sonar techniques to move. Since the pond was only so big, it was impossible to have many large predators inside of it.

The only one that existed was a turtle shark that was widely known for its large lifespan. It was unclear how it came here, so far away from the oceanic waters.

It swam towards the sphere inside which Arisu was as it took the sphere as the head of this giant creature that was creating a disturbance in his territory. In fact, turtle sharks are known to be extremely smart creatures, and they do not attack an unknown variable on their own accord.

This one was different, of course, due to being the largest fish in the pond; it considered itself the epitome of the food cycle. It did not think twice before attacking Arisu.

As soon as it entered the 10-meter range, Arisu did not hesitate to attack him with a few powerful ice spikes. It only slowed it down as the turtle shell protected the creature to a considerable length.

The tornado sped up considerably instantly and pushed the sphere forward enough to avoid the mouth of the turtle shark that tried to bite it.

Arisu raised his eyebrows in annoyance since he was so close to his goal and yet he was being delayed. His face finally turned to the Turtleshark who was coming to attack him once again.

Suddenly, the water around the shark started to behave as if it had a mind of its own and started to spin circularly, trapping the shark inside it. The shark finally realized he was prey in this fight and not a predator. Alas, it was too late.

By now, the spinning water around him was already starting to freeze into rock solid ice, and just in a few seconds, the shark was frozen to death from both inside and outside.

Arisu then sliced with his hand at the figure and an extremely sharp and thin slice of both the creature and the ice in which it was trapped in two pieces, dying the water around it crimson.

When the fight was over, silence returned to the pond.

Arisu then landed on the rock bottom of the pond. Just a meter away from the source, that was calling him here. It was an egg, the size of an ostrich egg. He did not know what it looked like since his eyes were closed. Arisu pulled the egg inside the ice sphere by using water tentacles before rising at his top speed. The air inside the sphere was limited after all.

The sphere's upper surface melted once he reached the surface, and Arisu jumped out of it and onto the shore. The first thing he did was examine the egg. It was translucent blue with a red core inside it and 10 tiny yellow cores circling above the red core.

Arisu got a feeling that the egg was quite ancient, probably from the times when spirits ruled this place and humans resided on the backs of lion turtles. Only after he touched it did it stop hibernating. Otherwise, it would have never given birth to the being it was meant to.

"I should return to the capital now." Arisu decided since the only reason he delayed his return was to find out what was calling him.

Author: I did not planned this like this but somehow Arisu in his icy sphere and tornado tail looks like sperm and the whole situation of him diving deeper in a pond of water and extracting an egg could be a reference to ovary and artificial birth lol.
