Chapter 1013: Indomitable (Part 1)

The sorcerer was incredibly angry and sad at having been set up by the demon. The demons that came to slaughter the city were summoned by a magic array that he had personally drawn, yet he had no way of knowing that a summoning array would end up summoning demons in such massive numbers!

Human mages were also capable of summoning demons, but summoning more than one was unheard of. The magic array did not seem to be a high level, and judging from his experience, he would have been able to summon one or two powerful beings at best. He had no idea that Nailisi was able to create portals, as what happened would definitely not have been powered by a mere level seven magic nucleus.

“Don’t get angry, Charles. The other side of the summoning array was a city of a devil. What I did would have angered the devil themselves. How can their army be controlled by a mere human? Think about it. If that devil were to get enraged and charge all the way here, I’d be the only one who’s able to protect you,” Nailisi said, feeling very pleased with herself.

Charles was speechless. He came to understand why it was said to never trust the words of a demon. So I don’t even have the right to get angry now, do I? If he were to lash out at Nailisi and she was irked enough to leave him to his own devices, there was no way he would be able to come out on top if the devil appeared.

A devil capable of carving out their own territory was above level ten in the demon plane. He would have a hard time dealing with a level nine supreme demon, let alone a devil.

“Charles, just do what I told you. We’re in this together, and there’s no need to hold back. Who else would forgive you other than me?” Nailisi persuaded patiently. She knew that Charles would not heed those words, as she was obviously baiting Charles to completely fall.

“I’d be hunted by Alchemy City…” Charles lost all will to fight Nailisi any further. There was nothing he could do to counter Nailisi’s machinations.

“Charles, tell me. Is Alchemy City more terrifying, or am I more terrifying?” Nailisi dragged him to stand behind her, as there were many demons who wanted to attack the sorcerer who only held back because Nailisi exuded the aura of a devil, but it was only a matter of time before a more powerful demon gave in to the urge.

The smell of a sorcerer was over a hundred times more enticing than that of a common human.

“Of course it’s…umm, you, O’ Great Nailisi. If I may ask, what further need do you have of me?” Charles submitted. The greater the disobedience he showed, the more Nailisi would have enjoyed torturing him.

“That’s the spirit, Charles. When you’re in no place to resist, you need to learn how to enjoy pain.” Nailisi thought of the pain that she and Saleen shared. Saleen’s badge would cast negative statuses on him whenever he trained to amplify his mental powers, and she wanted half of that pain every time it happened. However, her master came to do so far less frequently as of late. He only did so when her mental power reserves were lacking.

Pain was mesmerizing at times.

Nailisi was true to her word for once, but Charles would never believe it. He had no idea what the demon wanted to do to him. However, Nailisi had no more urge to torture him when he submitted. Nailisi did not like bullying the weak. If his level was lower than what it had been, Nailisi would not have even batted an eye at him.

Well, his fault of being a level eight sorcerer, and one thar has a lot of potential of advancing to level nine.

Nailisi’s predictions were right. At the edge of the military camp of an incredibly huge city in the demon plane, thousands of demons were attracted to the smell of blood and gore in the magic array and walked towards the portal.

The aura of a devil emanating from the other side of the portal eventually shook the king of the city, who was a very powerful level ten devil.

Nailisi summoned over 20,000 demons to her side, who all burst out at great speed. The smell of blood and gore attracted the demons. Under Nailisi’s command, they would have been compelled to devour the humans around even if they were not actually hungry.

It was something that Nailisi cooked up on the spot. It only occurred to her when she was summoning the demons that she should have used her coordinates to attract a devil from the other side.

Nailisi liked being at Saleen’s side, but she was the best candidate to lead an army of demons. However, if she were able to beat a devil into submission, that devil would be able to lead the army in her stead, and she would be able to be by her master’s side.

A low, booming voice reverberated from the other side of the portal.

“Who is this? Panigryrila? We had a deal of not fighting each other for 500 years! You…You’re not that fellow!” The voice turned angry.

“You vile creature. How dare you entice my people!” The voice became even louder as they neared the other side of the portal. Nailisi saw a huge hand extending through the portal, clapping down on several demons who were charging to the other side. A leg followed, crossing over to Myers Mainland.

Incredible speed indeed! Nailisi held her bone shield up in reflex. She was unable to repair the shield in time, and there was still a hole from Van Gogh’s Eye of God. The hole was patched up with red crystal rocks, and she was able to see the other side from there.

The ferocious devil’s form was seen in its entirety from within the porta.

The devil was only 13 to 14 meters tall and sported a pair of horns about two meters long. The devil’s head was larger than all three of Nailisi’s combined. The scales all over their body had evolved into armor. The scales on their chest had merged into one single piece, shining with a purplish sheen.

The devil held a giant cleaver in their hand, the blade of which was over 10 meters long. The blade was filled with magic patterns and some demonic runes that human mages never grasped. The back of the blade was so thick that a human could have walked steadily on it. The blade itself was blindingly red.

Nailisi grew worried. That devil’s weapon was incredibly rare. It was passed down from an ancient devil instead of something that devil crafted itself. The ancient devil had been a truly powerful one, a being above level 13. A devil who was able to wield such a weapon while suffering no recoil would have tremendously strong mental powers, as well as be capable of using some demon magic.

No other way to deal with this other than going head-on then! Nailisi took out her Grey Memory and charged at the devil. All six eyes on the spear opened and placed the devil in a lockdown.

The devil burst out in rage, intending to kill the being who had enticed their underlings. They had never expected to encounter a weak devil on the other side, one who was probably only level nine. They were unable to express dissatisfaction at being looked down on before being locked down by a terrifying weapon.

I’m locked down by a weapon? The scales on the devil’s body contracted and their muscles turned stiffer than steel. The demonic runes on the huge cleaver, and some hovering above the blade, shimmered violently. A powerful force came to control the space around the blade.

The weapons clashed with each other. The Grey Memory’s flash did not manage to penetrate the area of might materialized by the blade, but the spear made a deep gash on the devil’s cleaver. The tip of the spear was thrust straight into the lower abdomen of the devil.

The area of might materialized by the demonic rune hovering above the blade shattered the bones in Nailisi’s arm. The power of the recoil was formed by power of rules, which Nailisi had no way of breaking. If she had not been learning human martial arts from Jola and let go before something worse happened, the recoil would have cost her the entire arm.

The thrust rendered both sides severely injured, yet Nailisi only suffered a shattered arm. The other devil was hit by the Grey Memory in their lower abdomen, and their entire body went numb.

Nailisi’s movements were incredibly fluid. She spit out a Dragon Crystal Needle, which penetrated the devil’s shoulder. The devil dropped the cleaver, smashing a huge hole in the black steel ground. Nailisi’s shield went flying, hitting the devil squarely in the face. Her other arm took up the shaft of Grey Memory again and lashed out with another thrust, which went in over a meter deep.

The devil’s face was cut by the edge of the bone shield, and purple blood sprayed everywhere. The blue skin and muscles of the huge head trembled violently. The wound closed up within mere moments, leaving only a deep scar.

The horns on that devil’s head burst with intense light all of a sudden, shooting everywhere. When the light brushed her, Nailisi felt as if her head was about to split and fell to the floor. The Grey Memory was torn out of the devil’s abdomen.

That devil covered their wound with an arm and retreated before finding that the portal had closed. They were stuck at the plane.

Nailisi took out a divine crystal shard and gulped it down, easing the headache. The soul attack cast by the devil rendered every living being around them unconscious, including Charles the Sorcerer.

The ancient warrior was unharmed as their soul was protected by the Eternal Control shard. That attack simply rendered them dizzy. The warrior picked up their spear and charged when the light dissipated.

In a life and death situation, Nailisi did not bother to leave anything for Saleen. It was better to have the ancient warrior dead than her. She picked Charles up and flung him far away. The ancient warrior had already stabbed the devil tens of times.

None of the attacks managed to penetrate the devil’s scale. The devil had only been forced to retreat a dozen steps. The Ancient kicked the cleaver beside them, and their leg was shattered by the area of might bursting from the blade. The cleaver was sent flying as well, the power of the blade inadequate to kill a level nine warrior when not wielded by the devil.

The ancient warrior lost a leg, yet felt no pain. The red sheen all over them flashed at blinding intensity and the red light on the spear turned white. It was thrown straight at the devil’s eye.

The devil roared and lowered their head. The spear hit a horn and broke. The devil saw their weapon being sent into another portal by the devil who enticed the underling demons. The weapon was the key to the devil’s supreme reign in the demon plane. They were reduced to a common devil by losing the weapon and were no longer deemed fit to control the hundreds of millions they ruled.

Nailisi held her pain in and smirked at the devil, telling them in demon tongue, “you want your weapon? Come with me then!” Nailisi went inside the purgatory of the devils.

The enraged devil charged at Nailisi and went inside the purgatory without hesitation, ending up on the other side of the portal. The place smelled just like the demon plane. There was no mistaking it. That female devil created two portals through unknown means just to take my weapon.

I cannot afford to lose the Blade of Power was the only thought in the devil’s mind.
