Chapter 1334: Doom of Holy Rock City (Part 2)

Saleen saw all of that while he was on the Floating City, but he was unable to spare any effort to save the common folk. His astrology reminded him that what was happening down there was but a game for the abominations.

It had been quite a while that the ground of Holy Rock City had been taken. The abominations were taking their time killing people, baiting soldiers who were out to rescue them. The thousands of royal swordsmen had emerged from underground to rescue the people on top.

However, it was a trap. The abominations trapped the royal swordsmen and took their time to slowly to torture their prey. If it had not been Saleen showing up, the warriors out to rescue the people above would have ended up all killed by the abominations.

The level nine sorcerer was taken up to the Floating City by Isabella. The sorcerer met Saleen and spoke in a rather haughty tone, “Your Highness Saleen, please act faster. The abominations are attacking the underground.

Saleen was not angered. He said, “The map of the underground city. Hand it over.”

The sorcerer was dumbfounded and replied, “That is the secret of Holy Rock City. I can’t give it to you.”

The people around Saleen laughed at the same time. The young sorcerer was slightly irked. As he scanned the room, he quickly found that he was actually the least capable in the room in terms of powers.

“Your Highness, you and his majesty signed a secret treaty,” the young sorcerer said. “Are you not trying to help at all?”

“I’m here for Lex. You blabbered a lot and never told me anything about Lex. If something were to happen to Lex, I’d say to hell with whatever sh*tty treaty I signed. I’d see to it that Holy Rock City gets completely obliterated.” Saleen used Thundering Shock as he said those words.

The young sorcerer was sweating, and his hands and feet turned cold. It was something invoked by Saleen’s powers not because the sorcerer was weak.

The sorcerer was affected by the shocking skill and had no choice but to bear with it and say, “I apologize, your Highness. I only have less than 1 percent of the entire map of the underground city with me. Her Highness Lex definitely has more. She is now at the depths of the underground city and won’t be engaging the enemy for the time being. I’m unable to tell her specific location.”

“Out with the map you have then,” Saleen ordered.

“Indeed.” The sorcerer was rather dazed as he magically drew the map on the magic paper that Saleen handed to him.

It was only after he was done that he realized he had leaked the secret of the underground city. Then again, the sorcerer was not an idiot. He quickly realized that Lex had withheld information regarding the underground city from Saleen because she had no intentions of becoming empress.

Everyone knew that Lex intended to take the throne. Saleen would become a prince of sorts. It was not wrong to tell him about the underground city. As long as Saleen kept quiet about it, no punishment would come to him.

He thought, Even if Saleen were to say it, is Lex really going to punish me for it?

The sorcerer stood there thinking. All of his previous haughtiness was nowhere to be seen. He stood there looking rather awkward.

Saleen warmly said, “I take it that no harm came to you. If you’re indeed unharmed, come with me to the underground city.”

“Are you going down there yourself, your Highness?” The sorcerer grew anxious.

Saleen was going to become the future empress’s husband. If he were to end up dead, there would be no way for the sorcerer to settle the matter with Lex.

“Relax, I can handle things. Let’s go,” Saleen confidently said.

He handed the Floating City to the water puppet and Sika. Saleen left Sika out that time since the underground city was dangerous and most of her movement skills relied on her beasts. If the underground turned out to be a tight place, it would be difficult for her huge beasts to maneuver.

Saleen brought Nailisi, the Winged Skull, Rafel, and four level 10 mage trainers, as well as 400 metal angels and 3,000 Bug Angel Warriors. They flew down from the Floating City to Holy Rock City.

Eleanor was still high up in the air.

As Saleen passed by, he said, “Eleanor, regardless of what happens down there, unless level 10 professionals show up, stay out of the fight and let the Bug Angel Warriors take care of things.”

Eleanor nodded as Saleen headed straight for the ground.

Holy Rock City had only been around for a little more than 1,000 years, yet the construction of the entire city took several hundred years. The outer walls showed signs of self-repair after they were taken down. The location Saleen was heading toward was at a huge royal compound right behind the royal palace.

There was a man-made lake at the royal compound and a small island on the lake with surface areas spanning only several hundred square meters. There had been a magic tower on the island, which had been toppled.

“There is an entrance to the underground city right below the magic tower,” the sorcerer said as he pointed at the broken tower.

Saleen nodded and had the Bug Angel Warriors guard the place after they landed. He unleashed several star figures on the spot, instructing them to rebuild the magic tower.

Huge elemental creatures were summoned by Saleen. He told them to hold the broken half of the tower steady. Level 10 Elemental Stone Statue Soldiers were twice as tall as the tower they were fixing.

Suddenly, hundreds of monsters emerged from the lake.

“Abomination crawlers!” the young sorcerer yelled.

“Abomination crawlers?” Saleen looked at the monsters and cast a compound magic spell.

Thousands of icicles fell from the sky, instantly tearing more than 300 abomination crawlers to shreds. The wounds of the hit abomination crawlers froze over, yet they seemed to show signs of burning. Their powerful self-healing abilities were not enough to allow them to stand up. They all were quickly submerged into the lake.

The remaining abomination crawlers showed no fear as they charged at the island. The Bug Angel Warriors took them on and both sides quickly tore at each other.

The sorcerer felt the battle looked rather obnoxious. His throat felt dry. It was not that he had never fought any battles. He went to the Tanggulasi Empire when he was at level seven, hunting down several holy masters in secret. He had even participated in the Battle of Daliang City when he was at level nine.

The battle right in front of him looked more bloody than any he had participated in before. Both sides were incredibly resilient creatures. Imps and demons had formidable healing powers, and the Bug Angel Armors were capable of self-healing.

Like the abomination crawlers, the Bug Angel Warriors were very hard to kill. The abomination crawlers had sharp claws, which had a sharpness level surpassing most magical arms. It was a pity that their claws lost all of that as soon as they died.

The magic tower was quickly straightened up and patched. The repair took less than 20 seconds when Saleen used his Water Flame Alchemy. He moved on to restore the magic arrays of the magic tower.

The young sorcerer looked on in awe. That was no longer the ability of a level 10 mage. While level 10 mages were capable of building a magic tower completely on their own, there was no way they could have finished constructing it so quickly. He came to regret being so rude to Saleen earlier. The habit of a royal mage was hard to kick at times.

Saleen brought his men into the tower after fixing it. He told the bug angels to guard the tower outside and left two level 10 mages in charge. The two level 10 mages worked well with the Bug Angel Warriors after the tower was restored. They managed to somehow keep the abomination crawlers from getting onto the island.

There were no magic arrays at the underside of the tower. Instead, it had a straight passage. They walked down the steps and passed by several broken magic doors before coming to the first floor of the underground city.

They were more than 984 feet below the surface. The depth of the man-made lake was around a few dozens of feet. They had only reached the first level of the underground city. When they passed a layer of rocks, Saleen was able to see underground rivers flowing by.

He had no concerns of being ambushed with Rafel at his side. He cast Fluorescence in the dark, shining light for hundreds of feet. They were at a hall. There were a few bodies. Saleen discovered that none of the bodies were in a single piece. All of them showed signs of being bitten and chewed on.

Those damned abominations are eating people!

Demons ate humans, but they did it just like how humans ate. It was not due to preference but sheer hunger. There were few things that demons did not eat. If it was necessary to stay alive, demons would even eat their own kind. Those abominations, on the other hand, had been eating people solely due to their savagery.

Saleen turned his eyes away from the harrowing scene and returned to being a pure mage with no emotions. He began to analyze the battle that had been fought.

“There,” he pointed and said.

All signs were revealed by his Elemental Eye. There had been intense battles fought. The abominations barged in from the passage outside and met resistance in the hall. The fighting likely continued for over an hour before the human soldiers retreated.

“Your Highness, wrong direction,” the sorcerer said.

“Just come with me.” Saleen cast a blob of starlight from his finger. He came before a small hole under the starlight’s guidance.

The hole was on the ground. The edges were stained with the unique aura of the abominations. The bloodstains were apparent. The stench was unmistakable.

Rafel leapt inside without waiting for Saleen’s orders. She dived head first. The purple lance was no longer seen on her hand. While Saleen had crafted weapons and equipment for her, she still preferred her own weapon.

“Bones, take the rear!” Nailisi shouted as she dove inside with Rafel.

She was concerned for Saleen. Rather, she was concerned about Rafel. Who knows if that angel will betray master. Only I and the Winged Skull are the loyal ones here.

Saleen called for the sorcerer, who exasperatedly followed behind him and leapt into the hole. A layer of red glitter appeared on his body. It was Fire Washing, a low-level fire elemental spell.

The sorcerer combined the spell with Fire Ring of Resistance capable of sensing friend or foe. Once the user was attacked, the Fire Washing was converted into defensive fire magic.

Fire Washing was a detoxification skill on its own and had some dispelling abilities. The sorcerer’s techniques were considered rather mature. Saleen saw all that and knew that the young mage would not hold him back. It was a fact that he found rather comforting. If all royal mages were of such caliber, it would take considerable time before the underground city became overrun.

The Winged Skull took the metal angels into the hole after the sorcerer. The hole was dug by the abominations. It was so wide that even the bug angels were able to get in.

However, there was too much secretion from the abominations on the walls. If humans were to touch the secretion, no professional below level seven would be able to withstand it. They even posed a danger to those above level seven.

It was fortunate that none at Saleen’s side were afraid of such contaminating substances. It was impossible to abominate the metal angels. There was a god in the Floating City, and the metal angels have all converted to the faith of the God of Magic Net.
