Chapter 1519: Beginning of Collapse (Part 2)

Abyrus tailed Fycro and entered Myers Mainland.

Interconnected encampments were everywhere at the frontlines. Encampments in the divine kingdom were built differently from how humans did it. Every single encampment had tall sentry towers with archers in them, which doubled as altars as well.

Fycro zipped through the encampment. The place was filled with a massive amount of divine army units. He was frustrated, wondering how he caught the attention of the seraph.

Stealing power of faith was considered a severe crime in planes where the believers originated. Yet in divine kingdoms, it was something that gods easily overlooked.

All power of faith would eventually be returned to the gods unless the one stealing it was not a believer.

If it had not been for the fact that he was no longer able to keep himself in the divine kingdom he was staying hidden in, there was no way he would even have thought of infiltrating the divine kingdom the Lord of Glory was based in. Abyrus ditched the legions of angels behind him, and that frightened them considerably.

The angels all barged through the encampments in a hurry, no longer caring about rules or anything.

The scene, however, alerted mages who had been on the lookout for enemy movements, who then reported what they saw immediately.

The Baldur’s Gate, which was on standby not far away, revealed itself. Nailisi and the Winged Skull led the demons charging outside, and several legions of Bug Angel Warriors followed right behind the demons. The Bug Angel Armors were crafted specifically for human soldiers. Saleen had no use for them and gifted them to the Cloudflow people instead.

Nailisi had been waiting for such an opportunity for a long time. The encampment right outside the gates of the divine kingdom was built in such a way that it was impregnable. Nailisi might have been able to slaughter a huge number of enemies due to her level advantage, but doing so would have caused considerable casualties among her subordinates. She no longer dared to go deep behind enemy lines after losing thousands of demons and had taken to setting up Baldur’s Gate outside Lion City, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Nailisi was only doing that because Saleen told her to do so. She was not known for her patience, after all.

The enemy lines looked rather chaotic, and Nailisi took the opportunity to deploy her troops. No other armies would be able to stay on standby throughout the day, except the demons and the Bug Angel Warriors.

Demons did not take off their armor when they slept, while the Bug Angel Warriors simply slept in their armor, as doing so would hasten their recovery of mental powers instead.

Thousands of enchanters cast spiritual magic after detecting movements of their enemies to get everyone on their side into fighting shape. All that was left to do was to get everyone into formation.

Fycro watched as he escaped, wondering why the destructive device that he left within the divine kingdom did not get activated.

He was entirely oblivious to the fact that right after Abyrus barged into the space that he was hiding in, the angel cast a powerful Ice Seal, which was a spell between divine arts and magic and only available to someone who had begun to master the power of rules.

Abyrus intended to keep the place intact so that when the Lord of Glory inquired about it, it would save it a lot of trouble in trying to explain what had happened. Fycro’s trap required the environment to be very, very stable if he wanted to activate it because he needed the trap to stay hidden. As such, he was no longer able to depend on chaos breaking out in the divine kingdom to enable him to escape.

Abyrus stayed right behind him, getting ready to kill him after he was far enough away from the divine kingdom that it would not risk setting off the trap, before delivering final judgment on enemy cities.

The seraph had the Sword of Glory, enabling it to cast the most powerful divine spell attack once without consuming its own powers. That was Judgment, a skill reserved only for gods.

The white eagle form that Fycro took zipped past the encampments before landing, and Abyrus landed not far behind him. Fycro was feeling very frustrated, thinking that he would not have been so cornered if he had a godly item with him.

Fycro made a hard decision to run in Lion City’s direction. There were human armies in the city capable of withstanding attacks from legions of angels numbering over a million, so there were many powerful professionals.

While Fycro has had his divine fire ignited before, his thought patterns were still very much human.

He never thought of the possibility of running into Saleen.

With Saleen absent, Fycro ran into Nailisi instead.

Despite having changed his appearance, Nailisi was still nonetheless able to recognize him from one look.

Fycro? Nailisi snickered. She was stepping on the Violet Angel at the moment. Saleen had not brought the Violet Angel on the trip to the goddess’ temple, and the Violet Angel was put into Nailisi’s charge for the moment.

Nailisi told the Violet Angel to land and said to the Winged Skull, “there is a familiar face down there.”

The Winged Skull nodded and added, “It’s Fycro.”

“Are we going to kill him?”

“Do you have to ask?”

“But there’s a weird-looking angel right behind Fycro, and the thing is hot in pursuit.”

“I know that. I can see further than you can after all.” The Winged Skull was the closest to Nailisi, yet they were also the one that exasperated her the most. The way the Winged Skull spoke constantly rendered Nailisi speechless.

“Well, I say no kill then.” Nailisi pouted.

“Sure.” The Winged Skull remained deadpan. She knew that the wretched pile of bones was capable of expressions.

“Alright, we’ll kill him.”

“Sure.” The Winged Skull faced south and answered, as he looked at Fycro, who was getting increasingly close.

“Make up your mind already.”

“I did. We’ll talk after killing him,” the Winged Skull lifted their Reaper Scythe. The pair of eyes on the weapon opened and locked onto Fycro.

Fycro felt a chill before seeing a huge skeleton charging at him. The Winged Skull’s bone wings were spread, and they looked dazzling. He was unable to see the weapon that the Winged Skull held, but he felt pain on his neck.

Fycro backed away as soon as he could, and the blade of the scythe swiped close to his neck.

Huh?

Abyrus was baffled to see Fycro being intercepted by someone else, but the angel was quickly overjoyed to see an army coming from afar, and the army seemed to have over a hundred thousand soldiers.

Time to get the killing game going!

Wait, a golden dragon? Abyrus noticed the golden dragon form that the Violet Angel took and was somewhat fearful but quickly realized that real golden dragons did not look like that. If that were a true golden dragon, the dragon might exuding from it would place huge stress on the angel, but the golden dragon before it was just a fake.

Damn you, charlatan. I almost got duped.

Abyrus lifted the Sword of Glory in its hand with a cold smirk and headed straight for the Violet Angel, giving up the pursuit of Fycro altogether.

The Violet Angel landed on the ground hard and caused it to shake, but Abyrus was not fazed at all. Abyrus simply flickered and evaded whatever few skills that the Violet Angel was able to throw at it.

Abyrus’ fiery red wings flapped, and a red glow surrounded its body. The Sword of Glory burst right through the breath that the Violet Angel threw at it.

The golden Sword of Glory suddenly transformed into an ethereal sword that was many meters long, and Abyrus brought it down on the Violet Angel, aiming to its soul.

If the strike connected, the only part of the Violet Angel that would be left intact would be its soul. Its soul was inside a lightning cage, after all. Abyrus’ strike would only be able to harm it if the sword broke through the lightning cage in one go and still had enough left to keep going.

Abyrus did not pay any attention to Nailisi. From its perspective, the woman was just too weak to be worthy of his time.

But that was due to an innate ability of the Luoluokaluo—deception.

If it had not been for such ability to deceive others, the bloodline of the Luoluokaluo would have been rendered extinct a long time ago. Such imps, like humans, were extremely weak when they were first born. Only after they had completely matured would they become formidable beings.

Nailisi saw that Abyrus unleashed its attack and lashed out with her Grey Memory. The Violet Angel simply closed its eyes and did not evade it. If it evaded, Nailisi’s thrust would veer off-course.

The Violet Angel would rather take the brunt of the strike from the sword and get a weaker replacement body than to get on Nailisi’s bad side.

Pfftt…

A hole the size of a bowl was seen in the red wings. The Grey Memory was thrown by Nailisi like a javelin before she transformed into her devil form and brandished a huge sword. The blade came just in time to stop the strike from Abyrus.

The illusion broke with a crack and Abyrus shrieked. Half of its wings wilted and the feathers on it fell off. The Grey Memory continued to suck divine powers from it frenziedly.

Abyrus swiped the sword in its hand and chopped off the wing on its right side. It was in so much pain that it was shuddering all over. The pain came from the depths of its heart.

Abyrus had been a perfect angel, but it was forced to cut off one of its wings, which made it defective from there on out. The fear from its heart stemmed from doubts it had of itself.

Nailisi was disappointed. While the angel had indeed been powerful, it was only so in terms of power. The angel’s mind was just too weak. She, however, did not let the opportunity slip. Twenty-four Shackles of the Fallen shot out of the portal opening right behind her, chaining Abyrus up as soon as they entered the plane.

Abyrus was dumbfounded and swung the Sword of Glory in its hand, intending to cut off the chains binding it. However, the Sword of Glory simply flew out of its hand with a clang, landing at its feet.

Abyrus had too much faith in the Lord of Glory. If it cast the skills contained within the blade, it would probably be able to hurt Nailisi, but breaking the Shackles of the Fallen using the Sword of Glory alone was a feat that not even the Lord of Glory would be capable of.

Nailisi lowered her head and picked up the Grey Memory, which still had some feathers from Abyrus stuck to it.

“I like stupid angels and…gods!” Nailisi swung the Sword of Rules out horizontally, cutting up an illusion with a whiff. It was Fycro’s skill for escape, and Nailisi broke it.

“Nailisi, it seems like we both have grown considerably, no?” The Winged Skull was startled. It flicked the Reaper Scythe in its hand and felt Fycro shaking with fear.

“A level 13 pseudogod. Too bad we’re at level 15!”

“True. Sheer advantage of higher levels. That is something not even gods can do anything about,” the Winged Skull said, and the two black chains shot out of the eyes on the scythe, binding Fycro and pulling back at great speed. Fycro shrieked as he was consumed by the weapon.

The Winged Skull frowned, as it felt that Fycro still had surviving doubles out there. But it hardly mattered. Resurrecting through such doubles would take hundreds of millions of years.

Nailisi was very pleased. She waved and had the army continue pressing forward to take on the angels that had just emerged from the divine kingdom. She looked at the somewhat twisted face of Abyrus, before she narrowed her eyes and asked, “What’s your name, pale face?”

“Abyrus!” The seraph answered in fright. It was only that it realized that there was a powerful force on the chains binding it enticing it to fall.

No, not enticing, forcing!
