A sliver of white light went past the cover of the black book, moving about on the cover and forming holy prose. The holy prose floated up and landed on the body of the black deacon, releasing an intense light.
Lex secretly regretted having used the fire enchantment scroll. Seeing what was unfolding in front of her eyes, it was the best opportunity to use the scroll.
“Nailisi, help Saleen.” Lex knew that the fight between her and the black deacon could not be resolved that quickly. Killing the others before surrounding the black deacon was the best idea.
Nailisi nodded. She saw the layer of light on the black deacon’s body, a little afraid. It was a power that could hurt her. Only if she had absorbed all the essence from the heart of the giant dragon would she have been able to defend against this holy light.
Lex had four equipped puppets around her and she did not need to worry about anything happening.
The two dark knights that pounced towards Saleen saw the strange smile on his face, and before they could react, the equipped puppet that had been pinned down by the eight dark warriors had thrown its axe. The axe head landed on the back of one of the dark knights and as his sword aura lurched, all the organs inside of that dark knight started to bleed.
The eight dark warriors had become worn out long ago and could not control the puppet at all. Saleen had it lie on the floor and wait for the dark knights to walk past. These two dark knights were of a similar grade to Saleen and it would be troublesome if the two of them got close.
The remaining holy masters stopped in their tracks. They were not as strong as the dark knights and when defending against a full metal puppet like this, a swordmaster would be best.
Sika’s cudgel landed on the back of the grade-1 holy master’s head and a white light rippled. The holy master felt a jolt and lost his balance, falling onto the ground.
“Daniel!” Sika shouted. The winged skeleton flew down unsteadily and placed Daniel on the ground. It was a little afraid of the light from the holy master and did not attack. A small burst of flames appeared behind Daniel, the death flames having begun to burn again. The winged skeleton flew into the flames and started repairing any damage it had taken while fighting the three assassins.
Daniel did not get close either. He commanded the witcher spider to tear open the muscles at the holy master’s waist and the witcher spider dug its way in. The holy master sprang up in pain and landed heavily on the ground.
Having attacked two grade-1 holy masters consecutively, the witcher spider’s magic nuclei had been wiped clean. It did not wreak havoc in the holy master’s abdomen. Daniel stared at the holy master who had been severely injured, full of hatred. He twisted his hands together and the green death flames began to vibrate intensely, shining with a grey magic light. Many bones started to appear from the ground, and like a spear, pierced through the body of the holy master.
“I will let you chase me. You have chased me for more than twenty thousand miles, for more than a year. Do you still want to chase me?” Daniel was looking a little crazed as more bone spears emerged from the ground, nearly shredding the body of the holy masters into pieces. Only then did he stop and heave a large breath of air.
Nailisi walked past him, gave an eye to Daniel, and said, “Go help, quick.”
“Okay.” Daniel turned and went towards the rest of the enemies with Nailisi.
Behind the last dark knight was the puppet. It had killed all the other dark warriors and was blocking him from behind, preventing contact between him and the holy master.
As the six holy masters saw the three of them approaching from behind, they looked at each other. Five of them formed a circle without hesitation and the holy master in the middle started reciting a prayer.
“What idiots,” Sika said, displeased. A shot of holy light went past her as she threw out the boomerang in her hand.
The boomerang flew in a strange trajectory and went past the defenses of the five-man team, slitting the throat of the holy master in the center.
The grade-2 holy master had taken too long to recite the prayer and his defensive skills had been poorer than those of a grade-1 holy master. This difference in skill level was as big as the difference between a grade-3 and grade-4 holy master. The holy defenses of a grade-1 holy master exceeded the defensive abilities of most armor, and yet a grade-2 holy master had not been able to withstand Sika’s power at all.
The three of them approached the remaining five grade-2 holy masters and Daniel released his death flames repeatedly, using the easiest methods of assault to distract the divine spells of the holy masters.
Daniel was being this careful because he was afraid that the holy masters would use their sacrificial life skills.
The last dark knight suddenly released his assaultive ability. This ability was not only swift but effective on the battlefield. In the flash of a shadow, he had already appeared before Saleen.

Saleen was not alarmed. A black mist immediately exploded and he was blasted backwards, carried by the intense wind elements. He had escaped a fatal blow from the dark knight. The dark knight was forced into darkness and a loud, intense noise appeared in his ears, similar to the sound of metal rubbing against each other. He could not locate Saleen at all.
Saleen could clearly sense the panic within the dark knight, and yet there was a slight joy in his heart. A swordsman the same grade as him would never be a match for him, and since he had become a grand mage, he had many spells to choose from and the way he battled was never the same as before.
Together with his puppet, he had killed over twenty high-grade swordsmen and two swordmasters.
Saleen did not use any more scrolls and released a Frost Array spell, a level-1 Icicle spell, and an Ice Ring spell. The three level-1 spells linked up perfectly and the dark knight felt a chill down his legs as he was frozen to the ground. He panicked a bit. With a surge of his sword aura, he managed to escape the control of the frost array only to find that an icicle was already in front of him.
Dark knights did not wear fully sealed armor and without any armor over a person’s face, they could not use their face to stop a spell. He avoided the icicle but felt a chill at his waist, and what followed was a rush of heat. Blood spewed out and he could no longer feel anything below his waist.
Saleen dissipated the black mist. The dark knight had already been cut into two halves at the waist. Without any magic armor, the Ice Ring spell’s incredible cutting abilities could be fully utilized. This dark knight had not even understood what had happened before he was killed.
Sika and Nailisi were like wild animals. The five grade-2 holy masters were restrained by Daniel’s death magic and did not even have a chance to struggle. Sika’s cudgel danced in the air and the holy defenses of the grade-2 holy masters could no longer keep up with the beatings. With her speed, it took her hardly a second to destroy them.
Nailisi was not as fearful of the holy light from the grade-2 holy masters. Her hand pierced through it directly and she gouged out the heart of a holy master as blood spewed all over Sika. The holy master that had been hit by Sika’s cudgel was essentially obliterated, and as Daniel watched from the back, he was shocked.
Were these two really women?
If these holy masters had possessed the protection of three to five dark knights, the battle might have progressed differently. The attack speeds of divine skills were fast, but they were not as swift nor fierce as those belonging to magic. Their defensive abilities were only stronger than magic belonging to the same level. A grade-2 holy master’s abilities were similar to those of a grade-3 mage, and it was surprising that he had not instantly been killed by Sika.
A person need to know that Sika’s cudgel had been processed by a sorcerer and had many rare metals added to it. If it had not been limited by its weight, the offensive abilities of the cudgel would have been stronger than those of a constructed puppet.
“Saleen!” Seeing that all of their enemies were defeated and Saleen was not hurt, Sika ran over smiling.
“Careful!” Saleen lifted his hand and added a water shield onto Sika. The more powerful version of the water shield could only adhere to Saleen’s body. When he cast it on Sika, it was akin to a giant bubble, enclosing Sika entirely.
Nailisi bent her legs. With a jump, she sprung up over ten meters, landing on Saleen’s back. Daniel had a great deal of experience in escaping and the death flames behind him expanded instantly, protecting his body. The winged skeleton enveloped his body and opened its wings, needing a great deal of effort to fly.
In the middle of the village, a purple flame came up from the ground, spreading in all four directions. A dark shadow shook about within the flame, still incomplete. Lex’s face turned pale. In an attempt to escape the attack of the black deacon, she had released a speed skill and rapidly moved herself away. Her leg was beginning to hurt, and even the Chunlin spell could not suppress it.
Lex had released three level-6 spells consecutively and they had all been blocked by the holy prose. After the black deacon had opened the book in his hands, he had started reciting a long prayer.
“In the words of god: I give you the power to walk among the dark. Those lost lambs, those who betray the faith. In the darkness of the night, you are their master. Your sword is but a symbol. Once it pierces the chest of an enemy, it only writes my name – light.”
“In the words of god: I give you the honor of your faith. You will not need to pray, you will not need to regret. In a broken hell, the doors to heaven will still be opened for you. The judge of those who walk among the dark, you are the sword in the hands of god.”
The sound of the black deacon’s prayers became louder and louder as they echoed throughout the village. The purple flames from the ground began to expand intensely and covered the entire village.
Cold! An endless chill descended. With the exception of Nailisi, everyone’s skin contracted and they began to shiver.
The chill that the purple flames emitted were colder than that of icicles, and the black shadow within the flames began to fuse together slowly, forming human-like figures. These people had skinny bones and black skin. Their eyes lacked pupils and were patches of black. With long fingernails, they crawled forward, and their long tongues were covered in spit which spewed from their mouths as they revealed their sharp teeth.
“Those who blaspheme the gods, prepare for your trial!” Amidst the fire, the black deacon’s voice sounded even more insane. Saleen’s icy sight was in overdrive but he could not see where the black deacon was hiding.
“The hell of hunger?” Lex’s voice sounded from all around. Saleen could not determine where she was.
“Not bad. It is indeed the hell of hunger. All these spirits are heretics who I have killed. Their only wish is to eat anything in their way. Enjoy.”
An evil spirit turned its neck and faced Saleen. Saleen looked at its pitch-black eyes with anger surging in his heart. All these evil spirits were people who the black deacon had killed, and the so-called heretics had simply rejected their faith. Having to suffer like this even after death, how cruel.
If he died in here, it would not be the end. He would become an evil spirit and suffer eternally within these purple flames.
