Chapter 288: Unexpected Gains (Part 1)

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Banchajanna could not hear the anger from the winged skeleton and was attacked for the third time by the lightning dragon. His body twisted and could no longer return to its original state. The third lightning current turned purple as it landed squarely onto Banchajanna’s skull. This hit destroyed Banchajanna’s soul flames as they disintegrated into red flames.

Banchajanna was not dead, only because a part of his soul was in the scepter. It protected this part of his soul, but also restricted his freedom. The three kings could not do anything about this scepter, and the lightning dragon’s attacks could not affect the soul within either.

However, the winged skeleton gave a loud howl and Saleen’s perplexed and lost expression paused momentarily. Nailisi took this perfect opportunity and slammed her fist between his chest and stomach. Saleen twisted his body and fainted immediately.

Nailisi was very confident in her control over her strength and this punch did not stop Saleen’s heart from beating. However, his heart slowed down, and since his body was not able to withstand such drastic changes, Saleen fainted. With him fainting, the green current returned to normal and with a swoosh, returned into the calabash.

The green current was almost like an entity which accompanied Saleen. If he did not control it forcefully, it would not hurt him, or even Nailisi or the winged skeleton, no matter what.

It was the first time Nailisi had broken out into a cold sweat and she was thankful that her soul was contractually bound to her master. Her stable emotions had rubbed off on him, and if they had not, he would have killed himself and not cared about the warnings that she and the winged skeleton had uttered.

The battle within the sea had stopped after only a few attacks. The lightning dragon and Banchajanna were both severely injured. Banchajanna could not move as he slowly sank deep into the sea, and as for the lightning dragon, after it had released the lightning, its entire body had gone limp.

Banchajanna had not lost consciousness. He had reached the pinnacle in the death dimension, but now that he was here in the Myers Mainland, he had been beaten up this roughly by a grade-8 creature. In addition to the fact that the dimension had limited him from unleashing his true powers, the control of lightning over spirits was an important component as well.

The lightning dragon was worse off than Banchajanna. The impact that it had suffered was something never seen before on the Myers Mainland. Even if it was a grade-8 magic beast, it was not in any better of a state than Saleen. Since it had lost control over itself, the lightning dragon had unleashed an immense power that it could not even withstand itself, destroying Banchajanna defenses with a single blow. That purple current had not only damaged Banchajanna’s soul flames, but it had left the lightning dragon numb, unable to move at all.

If the lightning dragon had not been a magic beast, it would have drowned in the sea. The silver skin on its body had become a dark and gloomy color, and the golden magic patterns were chaotic too, no longer storing any electric current.

On the pan’s turtle alchemical boat, Nailisi lifted Saleen’s shirt and used her nails to draw a line on his chest, releasing a burst of grey blood. Banchajanna’s attack had almost taken Saleen’s life. Nailisi took out a small bottle and poured the magic liquid down his throat. Only then did he wake up.

The aftereffects of the attack had dissipated and only then did Saleen’s powerful focus come into effect.

“Goddamn, I…” Saleen rubbed his skull, realizing what had happened earlier. The only thing he could not understand was that if Banchajanna had wanted him dead, why had Judikaka still helped him reprocess the pan’s turtle? With the powers of the three kings, they did not have to take such a troublesome route to do what they wanted to him. Even if he was prepared, it would be hard for him to escape their attacks. Moreover, after signing a contract, even if Banchajanna wanted to hurt him, he would be restricted.

Saleen obviously had no idea about the inner workings of Banchajanna. He seemed to possess unfathomable powers. Originally, being at the grade of a king, he would not have been able to fully control the six different powers of the dead. However, with his scepter, he could already use all six of them in combat. Banchajanna’s logic was incredible. He had no intentions of hurting Saleen, but this had been the result. He had not controlled his attacks, and Saleen had been affected.

Banchajanna still agreed with Judikaka’s idea to use the weak humans and stay in this dimension for a while, not returning to the death dimension for now. Saleen was a human whom he relatively approved of, and yet he had never thought of protecting Saleen or letting him live safely.

The winged skeleton seemed to notice that Saleen was regaining his strength as he said in concern, “Master, don’t exact revenge on Banchajanna. The other two kings will not be easy to deal with.”

Saleen grit his teeth. If Banchajanna had been alone, he would have killed this death king when he did not have the ability to defend himself. Others might not have been able to do so, but he possessed the divine skills of the Myers Goddess and could completely destroy the dead. However, the winged skeleton’s warning was correct. Judikaka and Diyabannersa would not be easy to deal with.

“Hm, let’s get rid of the lightning dragon for now.” Saleen spat out the heavy feelings in his chest as he thought hard on how to deal with Banchajanna, who was already awakening. If he swallowed this down, would he meet with more trouble in the future?

Under the control of the winged skeleton, the pan’s turtle alchemical boat came to where Banchajanna and the lightning dragon had been fighting. The lightning dragon was completely paralyzed under the sea as it glared at Banchajanna. Seeing Saleen’s alchemical boat, it wanted to release an attack, but Banchajanna’s attack was not that easy to withstand. Saleen had nearly committed suicide from its repercussions, and the lightning dragon had absorbed most of the impact. Hence, it no longer had the ability to resist.

Saleen was filled with anger as well. If he had known about this earlier, he would not have set a trap and would have had Banchajanna deal with the lightning dragon right away. However, all three kings had been hesitant back then and did not dare face the lightning dragon face on. Who knew that after seeing it, Banchajanna would have changed his mind and fought with it, nearly killing himself in the process.

Saleen scrambled out from the deck of the alchemical boat. Judikaka’s design was far more useful than the original design, and entering and exiting the ship was also easier. His icy sight could see everything in the water clearly. The lightning dragon had lost the ability to defend itself and Saleen did not want to miss out on this opportunity.

Nailisi followed Saleen out of the alchemical boat. She knew that his spatial equipment was too small and if he wanted to carry the over ten-meter-long lightning dragon away, he would still require her help.

The lightning dragon glared at Saleen. It still remembered that he was the one who had barged into its nest.

Saleen ignored its glare. For a lightning dragon to grow this big, it must have killed countless living creatures. There were not any marine creatures within a hundred miles from here, and a person could only imagine the killer instincts in this lightning dragon.

Saleen tapped on the calabash on his waist as the green current followed out, heading straight for the lightning dragon. The dragon was paralyzed and had nowhere to hide, allowing it to enter its nose.

The current passed through the nose cavity up into its brain. Like most magic beasts, it had a magic nucleus in its brain. As the current invaded its body, the last of the lightning dragon’s life force burst out, its silver skin restoring to its former glory and the golden magic patterns rearranging themselves again, regaining their electric current.

Saleen did not dare let it fire again. He commanded the current to wreak havoc in the lightning dragon’s brain as it lost its aura again.

Banchajanna looked at Saleen’s actions, a little shocked. He had not cared about this human at first, but Saleen’s current seemed a little devious, almost as if it could really hurt him.

If Banchajanna had not been injured by the electric current and had watched this scene unfold with all his might, he would have killed Saleen immediately to prevent him from being a threat. However, Banchajanna could not even move his tail now, and pure terror struck him.

If Saleen wanted to kill him, now would be the perfect opportunity.

It had been a long time since the fate of his life had been in the hands of another. Banchajanna felt as though he had returned to the time when he had still been with Shanglan. Back then, his life had been in his hands.

Saleen’s current had the divine power of the Myers Goddess, and after killing the lightning dragon, its nucleus was still intact. It was pried away from its skull by Nailisi. Even though it was a grade-8 beast, the defensive abilities of its skin and bones were in no way comparable to tiago.

Normally, the lightning dragon could use its electric current for defense and even level-8 or level-9 spells did not have much of an effect on it. However, now that it had lost its current, its body was barely as strong as a grade-7 magic beast. This was also why the lightning dragon was not considered a grade-9 magic beast. A true grade-9 beast would still have horrifying abilities even if it relied solely on its physical body and did not count on its magic nucleus.

Saleen did not even glance at Banchajanna. He and Nailisi carefully cut up the body of the lightning dragon. Once the magic nucleus was in the hands of Nailisi, the only worthy thing left on the lightning dragon was its skin. The glands under its skin could secrete a silver liquid, and Nailisi removed them all together.

Banchajanna could only stare as Saleen and Nailisi dissected the body of the lightning dragon, taking out its magic nucleus and removing its skin and blood. The calmer Saleen was, the more afraid Banchajanna became. The magic of humans was crazier than that of any other creature, and if Saleen decided to deal with him, Judikaka and Diyabanersa might not know that it had been him.

No one would believe that a grade-4 mage had been able to kill a death king. Even if Saleen admitted himself, Judikaka would not believe him.

The entirety of the skin had been pared away from the dragon’s body. The bones were pulled out one by one, and the muscles were cut into pieces and all stored away into Nailisi’s bracelet. There was no waste, and as Saleen calmly did all these things, the anger within him slowly subsided.

Banchajanna was a king and ignoring a grade-4 mage was normal. If he wanted revenge, it would need to wait until he was a sorcerer.

At this thought, Saleen came before Banchajanna and stared momentarily at his giant skull. Benchanjanna’s soul flames had been severely injured and he was severely damaged emotionally. He felt that Saleen’s blue eyes were incredibly similar to Shanglan’s, equally ruthless and calm.
