“God says…”
The black deacon had only said a word before the green water flow, controlled by Saleen, twisted around his neck. The black deacon’s head rolled onto the ground, with fresh blood spurting up to two meters in the air from the neck.
“Go and talk to your god.” Saleen retracted his water flow. Ignoring the corpse on the ground, Saleen flew down and entered the forest. The other party had stronger holy masters, and if Saleen continued flying, he would not be able to tap into the advantage of his speed.
If he had fought with the black deacon on the ground, he might have lost to the black deacon. But in midair, the black deacon had given up his advantage in speed and Saleen had also attacked him unexpectedly. No one would have thought that a mage would be able to cast so many spells in an instant.
Saleen landed on the ground and hid behind a large tree as he waited quietly for the arrival of the black bishop.
The battle on the ground had not ended yet and the black armor warriors had already lost many people. With the dragonshard as motivation, the fully constructed puppets soldiered on courageously, and strangely, the injuries on their external shell were regenerating by themselves. This was the ability of a dragon, and now this ability was appearing on those two puppets.
However, the black armor warriors from the inquisition were fearless. The remaining thirty of them clutched onto their weapons and lunged at the two puppets. The two puppets did not exactly move quickly, and if they were to escape, Nailisi would be helpless. Nailisi would not be able to pursue so many enemies on her own.
The smell of blood emanated throughout the forest. As Conan hid atop the tree and observed the battle, he was stunned by the scene in front of him.
This mage and his female companion were far too powerful. Those pursuers had premium equipment and their actions were coordinated well, and all the swordmasters and holy masters were present, but they were hammered by that mage and that female warrior. That massacre by the puppets had reduced the one-hundred-strong crowd by more than half in a very short time.
All this while, Nailisi had been observing the battle which had taken place in midair. After the headless body belonging to the black deacon landed on the ground, she jumped off of the tree and removed the book and ring from the black deacon. Even if Nailisi could not use these things, she was not going to let the Holy See’s people keep them. The red book in the black deacon’s hand caused Nailisi to feel unsafe. Had Saleen’s sneak attack been unsuccessful, the outcome of the battle would have been unimaginable.
The forte of a holy master was their defensive abilities. However, Saleen had managed to destroy the defense of this black deacon in an instant, and before the book could unleash its power, the black deacon had already lost his head.
Noticing that Nailisi had jumped off of the tree, the other twenty surviving black armor warriors charged towards her. The puppets used the colossal weapons on their backs and managed to kill another five people. This time around, Nailisi did not run up into the tree. She rotated her wrist, and the dragon’s tooth dagger appeared in her hand. She then cut a machete into half before stabbing a warrior in his heart.
Before the other black armor warriors at the back could make sense of what was going on, Nailisi had already rushed into the crowd like a cloud of smoke in snow. She thrashed to her left and right, and every single hit sent the dragon’s tooth dagger into a warrior’s heart.
Nailisi’s combat experience was not as rich as these warriors, but her speed was much, much faster than them. The toughness of the dragon’s tooth dagger was almost unparalleled, causing the armor of those warriors to seem like fine bread in the face of this dagger.
The black armor warriors were already desperately trying to carry on the fight. Unfortunately, Nailisi’s dagger possessed the freezing ability of the tiago. As long as it hit the enemy, the enemy would be frozen in that instant. The black armor warriors were willing to give up their lives to stop Nailisi’s actions, but were ruined by the attributes of her dagger.
The black armor warriors charged at Nailisi in despair. As long as this woman was killed, the two puppets would lose their combat ability as well. Since every warrior thought that way, the warriors at the front decided to use their bodies to stop Nailisi’s dagger, while the warriors at the rear faced their backs towards the fully constructed puppets. In those dozens of seconds, Nailisi used her dagger to take out over twenty black armor warriors. Nailisi kicked the last warrior onto the ground, then a puppet pressed a square axe onto his neck.
“Master, I have captured one of them alive!” Nailisi was very satisfied at the fully constructed puppet’s performance. These two gigantic fellows could already control their weapons with much precision and accuracy. The square axe was heavier than a heavy hammer, but in the hands of the fully constructed puppet, it was like a strand of grass. The square axe pressed onto the neck of the warrior without breaking any skin at all.
“Ah…”
A strange noise came from the neck of this black armor warrior. It was a noise which was formed through a mixture of fanaticism and death. His chest was kicked by Nailisi, causing his ribcage to cave in a little. At this point in time, the warrior actually wanted to sit upright. His neck approached the blade of the square axe, as he was trying to kill himself.
“Stop!” Some people from outside the forest called out, and they came before Nailisi in a flash.
Nailisi was overjoyed. The square axe was then withdrawn and the warrior’s neck was salvaged. Upon seeing the three people entering the forest, this black armor warrior suddenly saw hope. If he did not need to die, then he would obviously cherish his life even if he was in the death squad. The warrior rolled over as he tried to escape.
With a whoosh of air, another fully constructed puppet drove his metallic spear downwards. Pu! The thick spear entered the waist of the warrior, as though it had just penetrated cheese.

“In the future, if you want someone to stop doing something, remember to use the word ‘please’.” Such a complex action by the fully constructed puppet had obviously been carried out under Nailisi’s command. Nailisi grinned from ear to ear as she watched the three people enter the forest.
Of these three people, the leader was a middle aged man clad in black robes. His robe did not have a hood. He wore a metallic crown on his head, looking nondescript. Furthermore, he looked fragile. A pair of slender eyes and arched eyebrows made him look somewhat feminine.
This was the black bishop, the power which served as the backbone of the entire Holy See. Beneath a bishop, all the other positions were tied to an amount of personal contributions, but if one wanted the position of a bishop, they would need sufficient capabilities as well.
At minimum, a bishop would possess the power of a grade-6 mage. If one was a pivotal bishop, then they would have the offensive ability of a grade-7 mage. That was already the power of a sorcerer.
The black bishop glared at Nailisi. She was ridiculed beyond words and was contemplating retreat. This black bishop was abnormally devilish. His eyes were red, similar to those of a spirit.
Of course, there were people who were born with red pupils. However, the shape of the red pupils of the black bishop were constantly changing, like two bunches of soul flames.
The two people beside the black bishop also made Nailisi uncomfortable. They wielded a pair of strange-looking weapons. The weapons were like slightly curved knives, with blades on both ends. Blood dripped continuously from these two pairs of curved double edged blades, but once the blood came into contact with the snowy ground, it lost its color.
Phantom!
The black bishop fumed. This capture mission which he was commanding had already been going on for several years now. However, in this day alone, the number of men killed and injured was more than the total number of the past three months.
There were no more surviving inquisition warriors in the forests ahead. Two gigantic metallic puppets wielded their weapons and stood behind a woman. Genuine feelings could not be detected in her pair of green eyes. They were so cold, like the snowy ground.
With one glance, the black bishop had already deciphered Nailisi’s nature. He instinctively felt that this green-eyed woman was far more dangerous than the mage who was hidden from sight.
“Who killed Goodrid?” The black bishop looked at Nailisi, as the shape of his red pupils carried on fluctuating. Nailisi licked her lips, but she did not reply.
“Goodrid is my son. You all will have to pay the price.” The black bishop’s voice was long and windy, like the sound given off as a steel wire was rubbed against a rock. One would feel extreme discomfort listening to his voice.
As Saleen stood behind a tree, he felt a sense of discomfort in his heart. He had killed another person’s son again? This time around, the trouble was much greater. The previous time, Saleen had only offended a secular earl, but now, he had killed the son of the black bishop. Damn it, why am I always trifling with the wrong people?
“The two of you, capture this woman first and chop off her limbs. I want to use her to bear another son for me. I will go and deal with the mage,” the black bishop instructed the two people beside him. Without looking at Nailisi, he turned around and made his way to the large tree where Saleen was hiding.
Nailisi’s green pupils contracted violently. The black bishop’s words had angered her. In the demonic plane, the devils would kill the demons, imps and spirits, but they would never do such a thing. Chop off the limbs and make her bear a child?
Saleen’s breathing became rapid and urgent. He knew what the black bishop was talking about.
The Holy See had a method of making newborns naturally believe in the Lord of Glory. There was some divinity involved in this method and it was extremely cruel. When the Holy See first emerged, the methods employed were unusually gory. Many similar incidents had happened, and only when the Holy See had taken control of the Tanggulasi Empire and gained a stable following did the method become obsolete.
The blood cavaliers and divine magic carried the smell of this primeval religion. They were not accepted by the mature empires on the Myers Mainland. Now that the Holy See had begun employing such methods again, a bloodbath would undoubtedly be formed.
The black bishop approached Saleen. A large tree was in between the two of them. This tree was about three meters in width, and it could only be seen from the northern wilderness. Saleen was unusually nervous. Holy masters and mages were the same, in that they were not good in close combat. Furthermore, the black bishop did not cast any divine spells. Instead, he walked closer and closer towards Saleen. Could it be possible that he knew some special close combat techniques?
The green water flow swirled around Saleen’s body. Saleen put away his scrolls. Against the black bishop, scrolls were useless. Saleen would have to use magic combat – his forte.
At this point in time, Saleen finally understood the meaning of the phrase – a mage can only depend on their own magic chords.
Scrolls and magic books could replace the usage of the magic chords. However, these methods would prevent a spell from unleashing its full potential. Saleen could cast scrolls quickly, but the spells which were released from the scrolls could not be as easily controlled as when they were released using magic chords. Using scrolls against people who were of a similar grade was still fine. However, against holy masters who were at least two grades higher than Saleen, using scrolls would prove fatal for him.
As the black bishop drew closer to Saleen, Saleen began perspiring profusely even though it was such a cold day. Sweat droplets snaked down his forehead, and even his eyebrows and eyelashes could not stop the sweat. One sweat droplet entered Saleen’s eye, causing an intense piercing pain.
