Chapter 395: Training On The Way Home (Part 1)

At first, Saleen was not keen about looking for the ruins of temples. Now that he knew about the news, he started thinking about what Lex said before.

Lex once told Saleen to gather people that he trusted and find all the ruins of the temples together. Saleen did not agree formally, but he had been taking precautions to find the ruins of the temples. Obviously, the ruins were built during the passing of the Goddess of Myers.

A God would be sensitive to a such matter. Saleen was always worried that his encounter was a trap left behind by the Goddess. As a mage, even if they did not repel the Goddess of Myers, held their guard up.

The achievement of the Ring of Gifts in Saleen’s hand was not suspicions as the Goddess could not predict that there would be a bastard named ‘Saleen’ and that he had placed a bet with Baron Minghui. He won the Ring of Gifts from Baron Minghui and it was impossible for the two of them to intersect originally.

Saleen was able to place a bet with Baron Minghui because he was Viscount Gugger’s guest. Viscount Gugger was willing to invite Saleen because he wanted to recover his family’s reputation through the grand mage that backed Saleen up. Saleen was used because of Jason and Jason accepting Saleen as an apprentice was merely an accident.

All these incidents were not related at all so Saleen did not believe that his fate was arranged by someone else. Everything was due to his hard work, to be able to achieve what he had.

The origin of the ring was fine, but if the Goddess knew about her fall, what was her intention to build so many secret temples? From the myths, the Goddess of Myers was not an enthusiast of preaching. The cost to build so many temples was very high.

Saleen would not buy the idea of the Goddess suddenly turning crazy. There was always a reason that human did not know when God was doing something. Saleen did not want to get involved and only wanted to live and be assured that he had bread everyday.

Now that he had become a pure mage, suddenly there was a pathway right before his eyes and Saleen could not put off the idea regardless.

“Master, do you want me to leave immediately?” the winged skeleton’s voice rang in Saleen’s mind and Saleen shook his head.

“Soldier, you can continue. It’d be best to suck dry all the power of spirit of the dead. You never know when the next time you would be coming here is.”

The winged skeleton appreciated Saleen’s effort, but he did not waste any time. He knew that Saleen was rushing to head back while he sent Banchajanna out to hunt. If Banchajanna did not follow the ship’s movement, he might run into danger.

What the winged skeleton was worried about did not happen, he continued to take in the power of the dead for three days and Banchajanna managed to get back in time. Saleen was worried too. He was not worried about Banchajanna, but he was about the eighteen pieces of dimension stones that he had given to Banchajanna.

If he were to lose all those dimension stones, Saleen would weep, but he had no tears. When Saleen was making the armor for Sika, he already knew the value of the dimension stones and the twelve of them he used for Sika seemed to be wasted. If he had enough skill, only one dimension stone would have been sufficient to turn Sika’s amor to be a semi godly item.

Saleen found it odd “Sregl Island had such a good item, but why would they be attracted by the fire type element spirit.”

It could actually be explained easily. Those dimension stones belonged to Jason. Among the mages in Sregl Island, only Jason’s water flame could make these gemstones while the other mages would not study it.

In Jason’s plan, the real function of the dimension stones were not to be made into any sort of magic equipment. In Jason’s heart, the biggest function of the dimension stone was to use as spatial equipment. Jason was very ambitious, he was dissatisfied with Sregl Island being positioned at the bottom of Alchemy City. How could he possibly design such a perfect city otherwise. This was a city that was specifically prepared for mages.

To build such a city, the expenditure was huge. It took manpower, material, resources, and also time. To put the building material together would perhaps take decades without sufficient spatial equipment to transport it. The city would need centuries to be built. It required more man power to guard the materials.

The material required to build a magic tower was a terrifyingly amount and most of the part where it required the most material were underground. A grade-9 magic tower was at least one square mile. The depth of the magic tower foundation was basically above double the height of the ground and all of the material was extremely precious.

“Banchajanna, well done. Let’s go.” The last sentence was to the winged skeleton.

He complimented Banchajanna faintly and passed Banchajanna a few pieces of bone casually. Banchajanna was covered with wounds and he had used up all of his skill for the three-day-hunt. Luckily, most of the stronger magic beasts had passed, otherwise, there would be a problem for him to come back alive.

On the Myers Mainland dimension, the power of the Kings of the dead were already restricted to the bottom of grade-9. After being controlled by Saleen, the Three Kings’ power continued to be brought down. The three Kings might not be at an advantage when they were fighting against creatures in the current dimension. Of course, Saleen was considered as a creature of the current dimension and Banchajanna was very much afraid of Saleen.

Although that was the border of the Oceanic Ice Block, it was still dangerous. After leaving the battlefield of the magic beasts, the Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat did not float up quickly but continued going forward slowly underwater, in fear of provoking any strong creatures.

Saleen knew that pressing would not help. After leaving the dangerous zone, the distance to the city base was more than tens of thousands of meters away. Even if the alchemical boat went forward in full speed it would require a week’s time to get there.

Instead of worrying his head about it, why not seize the time to consolidate their harvest? Five of the low level mages could manipulate the magic compass on their own as they had achieved their status of grade-3’s peak and they could be promoted to grade-4 mages anytime. The five of them were excited. Their qualifications were considered eminent above all commoners, but on Sregl Island, they barely qualified to learn magic.

If they were not good at solving each question related to magic, Jason would not send them to Saleen. Intrinsically, the five mages would not have good prospects staying on Sregl Island. At least they had better not expect themselves to build their own magic tower.

As it was a journey back, Saleen let the others stay at the cabin opposite. He kept Nailisi and Sika with him to practice on the first floor everyday.

Saleen’s way of practice was by actual combat. Without outsiders, Nailisi finally showed her third ability, which was to turn into a human and learn magic from Saleen.

What Nailisi needed to do was to attack Sika with a low level magic while Sika tried to defend with her magic armor. The set of armor was manipulated with holy prose and through Sika getting familiarized, there was no magic nucleus needed. She only needed to activate the defence skill when Nailisi was going to attack.

The magic armor had three defence methods, one was to constantly activate the defence magic array on the armor, second was to maintain the defence of the armor at a semi active state through repeated training, and the third was to let the armor auto defend. That was only activated when an enemy attacked.

There were pros and cons for the three methods. The method that Sika opted required a high level of skill. Without going through training, the failing rate was ridiculously high. With long periods of training, the effect was almost the same as the third method and the magic nuclei used for training were not any less.

The biggest advantage of Sika’s training method was that she was able to develop all abilities of the armor. That was a skill of mages making their own equipment. With repeated training, armor would eventually become a part of Sika. By then, the set of armor that Saleen gave her would be considered a semi godly item.

Saleen was looking at the two of them training with his mask on. Once Sika made a mistake, Saleen would cast an icicle or ice arrow magic to break Nailisi’s attack.

The training effect was obvious, Saleen could feel that he could withstand it for about fifteen minutes time before he faced the danger of him emptying his mental power. In actual fact, no matter how many magic chords a mage had, one would not be able to stand for fifteen minute casting the same level magic. Only the large scale joint magic would be prepared for few hours time and there was usually participation of magic array.

If it was individual magic, even a curse, the preparation time was rarely more than three minutes. The mask was very useful for Saleen.

There was a weird scene in his cabin.

Firstly, a demon turned into a human and started casting low level magic while a Caucasus priestess was defending with her magic armor. There was a real mage that was looking coldly by the side.

Nailisi could be considered a magic genius. Her magic chords were formed for only a day. Of course, that related to the soul bond between her and Saleen. As Saleen was already a grand mage the success was assured as her condition was special, although he could not turn Nailisi into a grand mage immediately.

In other words, even if Nailisi did not practice much or did not make an effort to learn. With repeated meditation daily, releasing and recovering magic chords, she could become a grade-2 mage quickly. Until Saleen promoted to sorcerer level, Nailisi would be promoted to grade-4 mage as well.

There was an exaggeration in leveling and that did not signify Nailisi’s understanding towards magic and her fighting power. That could only explain that Nailisi had enough magic chords. Saleen got emotional and thought about how it nearly cost his life for him to achieve more magic chords when Nailisi could just sit back and relax. Not only did she faced no danger, she was promoted very quickly.

Magic was balanced. When Nailisi achieved the ability, she had already payed the price before, which was her freedom. A mage was one that went after freedom, but not power. To give up freedom for power was something no mage would be willing to do.
