The darkness weighed onto Jola and he used his immense sword aura to fight back. This building was essentially a modified magic tower. Even though it was not as powerful as the magic chariot, there were dozens of magic arrays inscribed on it and it was pretty powerful itself.
If the mages in this building were to fight in the normal way, just a few of them would be able to cause massive destruction to Bifano’s army. Lex’s mages could not control every area.
The mages were hiding inside and commanding the stone statue ghosts to attack. The strongest few grade-4 mages were hiding inside the darkness screen and defending to the end.
Within the level-7 darkness screen, these grade-4 mages could not release any magic themselves and could only control the magic array to continue the attack. The darkness screen could not kill their enemies, they could only watch as their enemies killed them.
They were being trapped in their own trap, Jola slowly lifted his long sword. The sword aura was hesitant as it pierced through the chest of the mages in front. He could now see the long sword piercing through between the bones of the skeleton and sliding cleanly into the heart.
Jola had not expected it to be this easy to kill a mage.
Lex opened another scroll, this was a light magic; the Glitter Spell. With three mages dead, the darkness screen could only count on the magic array to continue working and could no longer subdue Lex and Jola actively. A low-level spell like the Glitter spell was enough to momentarily cause disruption to the core of the magic array.
Ka…
A crack formed on the ground below as the magic array that even Jola’s long sword could not destroy split apart by itself.
There had never been a light type magic emerging from the core of a dark type magic before and this elemental clash was incredibly intense. Lex did not expect it herself. She immediately retreated and grabbed Jola with her. Jola and Lex retreated to the window. Lex did not even turn back as she jumped down with Jola behind, they both flipped down.
“Crap, it’s going to explode!” Saleen saw something was wrong as a chirping noise sounded from the top of the tower and it started shaking. A terrifying aura seeped out and the few war horses laid flat on the ground with foam at their mouths.
There were hundreds of stone statue ghosts frozen in the air as they all dropped onto the ground.
Saleen threw the fully constructed puppet off the chariot to chop the reins, the two fully constructed puppets dragged the two chariots and fled towards the east desperately. Saleen released two scrolls consecutively, they were the water shields he had created. They were a little too big and directly encased the two chariots entirely in a bubble.
Lex flew towards the east, but she did not forget to give Jola a Windspeed spell. Jola fell from over twenty meters, but bounced back up like a balloon. His body was surrounded by a flow of air current. Seeing Saleen and Lex escaping, he did not dare stay there.
Jola was not slow to begin with and with the Windspeed spell, he ran for over a thousand meters to the edge of the castle before stopping.
Bifano’s face was pale as he ran together with his horse behind Saleen’s chariot, that was being pulled further away.
Less than three-hundred of Bifano’s bodyguards managed to run out too, there were still around two-hundred of them that were battling it out at the center of the castle. The building vibrated and exploded without any warning. The ground shook with it as countless pieces of shrapnel flew up and shot out everywhere. Bifano could not help but curse as he laid against his horse’s back, not daring to even to lift his head.
The intense air current blew away anything that was near the building, the roofs of all the houses nearby were stripped away. Half of the six storey building had disappeared, almost as if countless trebuchets had fired at it at the same time. The pieces of rocks shot everywhere from the center of the castle.
The intense air current formed a five-hundred meter radius where everything was destroyed. All the soldiers there lost their lives and many soldiers that were outside the radius were struck to death by the flying rocks too.
Bifano did not stop cursing, but he did not direct his curses towards anyone. He did not dare scold Lex. This disaster was caused by her, but he finally knew how scary a mage was. Not only scary, but troublesome too.
This explosion directly destroyed all the defences of the Stone Statue Castle and Earl Wynner would not be able to form up such a counterattack again. Many of Bifano’s men had perished too and even more had died from the mutiny. More than two-hundred of his personal bodyguards had died and he felt the loss in his heart, but he could not say anything bad about Lex.
It was a battle and there was the danger of death. At least Saleen managed to bring the slain warriors with him when he escaped. Many of them had been injured by the attacks of the stone statue ghosts, but because Saleen was quick. Only three of them were crushed by the huge rocks. The rest managed to escape with injuries only.
The soldiers that were a little smarter hid at the pillar of the wall, avoiding being crushed by the stone pieces that rained from above. Some of them landed on top of the magic chariot and were deflected by the bubble.
These stone pieces were not from a honing magic and using the water shield to defend against them was just right.
Lex flew incredibly quickly in the air and she had flown above five-hundred meters before she looked down and saw a huge empty spot at the center of the castle. The chaotic elements had formed an elemental storm and it was preparing for the next explosion.
What an amazing reaction, by releasing a light type magic within the center of the magic array together with the powerful dark magic, this is what would happen.
Lex thought for a while and understood what had happened. Such things did not come about easily as at the center of the dark magic, every other element would be suppressed. With this magic robe created by Joey and the Gods Ring, it formed an independent elemental space to release the light type magic.

If not for her own grade, she would not have been able to see anything within the darkness screen, much less release the light type magic.
Why did the Icy light spear at the start not produce such an intense reactions? Lex thought hard.
“Lex is amazing!” Nailisi stuck out her tongue and thought back to how she wanted to go in to kill earlier on. Luckily, she did not leave the magic chariot, when Saleen felt danger, she realized there was danger too due to Saleen’s soul vibrations. If she was within the building, the explosion might have happened even before she could run out.
“Saleen, what happened just now?” Viscountess…” Narnia looked at Saleen, her soul had not settled. If she was not in the magic chariot, she would not have escaped too. The two fully constructed puppets managed to drag the chariot away before the explosion happened, it was faster than even a Windspeed spell.
Saleen was deep in thought too, he could vaguely feel something had happened in the building, but this was illogical. It was just two spells with differing properties, how could such an intense reaction have taken place?
Light and dark elements were not entirely incompatible. In level-7 magic and above, there are ways to use these two types of magic together.
The other female mage looked at Saleen too before he reacted. He lifted his head and looked at the top of the chariot, his gaze pierced though it and he found Lex floating above in the air.
She was deep in thought too, evidently mystified with what had just happened.
“Lex is alright, she is above.” Saleen pointed to the sky.
Bifano rode his horse over to Saleen, Saleen did not allow him to say a word as he said, “Ask your soldiers to leave the castle for now, there is still some trouble and normal soldiers cannot handle it.”
Bifano immediately stopped bothering Saleen as he commanded the remaining soldiers to leave the Stone Statue Castle. Hiding themselves at the corners of the castle walls.
At the center of the Stone Statue Castle, an elemental storm had formed and was expanding outwards silently.
Everywhere it went, everything turned to dust. Whether it was stone, wood, metal, or ceramics; they all seemed to have gone through thousands of years of degredation and had become ashes.
Lex flew even further into the sky, she took out her alchemy telescope and upon seeing this scene, she was relieved. The elemental storm now was clamping down and its properties were that of the dark type magic. It would disappear quickly.
Lex did not think of the soldiers and commoners at this point, there was no use too. Within the castle, a one-thousand meter radius of empty space had formed and such an elemental storm moved incredibly slowly. All the people around the edges had escaped and those inside were all dead.
At the west of the castle, a group of people rushed out, two-hundred soldiers protected one person and ran towards the west. Lex took in the scene, but did not give chase. That must have been Earl Wynner and there was no point killing him.
Earl Wynner was already scared out of his wits and he had no idea what happened at the center of the castle. After the explosion, he was brought away by a mage to escape the danger zone.
Among these two-hundred soldiers, only a handful of them were his bodyguards. The rest of them were scared shitless too and had no intentions of defecting. To them, such things were unimaginable.
Most of the army had seen mages and observed them releasing magic from close up. Those that could perform for them and be trained to adapt were grade-3 mages and below. Something like this that baffled even Saleen and Lex was even more illogical to them.
In the eyes of the common soldier, a mage could only release a fireball or some acid.
After more than an hour, the elemental storm finally subsided and Lex landed on the ground. Bifano, under the protection of his bodyguard, walked towards Lex while suppressing the fear in him.
“The castle is destroyed, we can cross the river now.” Lex said calmly, almost as if the thing that had happened had nothing to do with her.
“Viscountess!” Bifano raised his voice.
Lex looked at him coldly and said, “You didn’t mention this magic building in the castle. If you had told me it was there and given me more benefits, I would have entered. If there was a grade-6 mage in the house today, not all of us would have escaped.”
“I…” Bifano looked left and right in defeat. His bodyguard all looked horrified, not a single one opposed Lex’s words. He knew that these soldiers might no longer dare to do anything to Lex in the future.
“Magic! One of these days, I must possess such powers too.” Bifano screamed in his heart, his face was calm by now.
“Viscountess, this castle must still have some undestroyed warehouses, besides, I want to go in and tidy up the corpses.”
“Alright, but let’s wait another six hours, the castle still isn’t suitable to enter.” Lex turned towards the magic chariot upon seeing Bifano giving up any intentions to pursue the matter. She was a little scared too, if she left too late just now, she would have to use the powers of the Gods Ring or else she would have definitely died.
