Chapter 653: Water Puppet (Part 2)

Saleen hid in the room and patiently observed what was happening outside. He was not worried about the Three Kings, he was only worried that the gold grand swordmaster would suddenly rush up. Now, the gold grand swordmaster was three miles away and the five-thousand strong black-armored army was ready to march off. If the gold grand swordmaster wanted to, he would be able to reach the city wall in half a minute. Nothing would be able to slow him down, not even alchemy arrows.

The gold grand swordmaster was not a magic beast, but even his agility was not something that mages could hope to surpass. He could fly faster than most sorcerers and his burst of speed over short distances was something that even grade-9 sorcerers would not be able to match.

The only thing the gold grand swordmaster feared was a grade-9 sorcerer leaving behind a magic imprint on him then chasing for the kill. If a few grade-9 sorcerers were able to determine the gold grand swordmaster’s location, after a long chase, the gold grand swordmaster’s flying ability would not last as long as a sorcerer.

Saleen was not looking at the top of the city wall, but Nailisi and Sika were extremely anxious about it. Although Nailisi might be confident in defeating a death king, she could not give it her all and had to keep everything under her control. If the water puppet was not able to kill Banchajanna in one hit, then they were in trouble. The water puppet would not be able to strike first. He was a part of Saleen so if he struck first, it was equivalent to Saleen intentionally destroying the bond.

Even if the bond has weakened, there would still be punishment. No one knew what the consequences were if one struck first.

“Ka… ka…,” Banchajanna strange noises. He was no longer able to control the weapon in his hands and his speed had increased. He was jumping across the top of the city wall and wherever he went, there were no survivors.

The second battalion saw what was happening and an order was given. The low-ranked officers retreated and gave a signal and the soldiers behind them followed to retreat as well. Saleen never understood why Lex always focused on training her soldiers to understand and obey commands instead of training up their combat abilities. In actual fact, these soldiers needed to work well together in order to fully display their fighting abilities.

Individually, the mercenary soldiers’ combat skills were not worse off than the soldiers of the second battalion, most of those that were injured or dead were mercenary soldiers. Once Banchajanna started wielding his weapon, no human could stand in his way.

Except for Sika.

“Stop!” Sika shouted from behind the water puppet. Her voice was so loud that even Nailisi felt pain in her ear drums.

Banchajanna turned around violently and looked down at Sika. The white bone giant axe in his left hand struck the ground violently. At the same time, within the soul flame in his eyes, the bond has broken completely.

Judikaka was a spirit of the dead and had long forgotten the feeling of being alive. Now, he felt it. It was as if an invisible heart was pumping violently in his chest and the feeling of fear returned after so many years.

Banchajanna was going to harm himself!

Things had reached a point of no return. Judikaka only shouted out loud once, “Diyabannersa!”

Although Diyabannersa was a rough character, he was extremely sharp. Judikaka only had to call his name once and he had already taken out his scepter.

When Shanglan gave the three scepters to the Three Kings, it was for their own self-defense so that he would have more coolies following him. These scepters were valuable equipment and Shanglan did not have many others like them.

“Banchajanna!” Diyabannersa shouted at the same time, hoping that Banchajanna would take out his scepter too. Once the three scepters combined together, they would be able to overcome even the effects of going against the bond so that they could at least escape back to the death dimension.

Bang!

Sika’s battle soul skeleton twisted its body and vanished. In the next moment, Sika appeared beside Diyabannersa. Banchajanna’s giant axe created a crack that was more than a yard long and half a foot deep on the top of the city wall

The cudgel in Sika’s hands landed heavily on Diyabannersa’s wrist. Diyabannersa and Judikaka did not revert back to their original forms so they were only two yards in height. Sika was standing on the back of her skeleton and was of the same height as them. This hit cracked opened Diyabannersa’s wrist.

“In the name of Shanglan!” Judikaka raised his scepter and wanted to activate the power within it. He never realized that Nailisi was not protecting Saleen and was charging towards him instead.

Banchajanna swung his axe at the water puppet.

Saleen was relieved. The Three Kings were so powerful that it made him terrified. In the death dimension they would have been able to cast magic at will, but on Myers Mainland combat abilities were still more important.

The combat abilities of a spirit of the dead could never be compared to a demon. Besides, Banchajanna did not listen to Diyabannersa to take out his scepter and attacked the water puppet head-on instead.

In a battle at this level, one mistake could be fatal.

The water puppet raised a finger. Both of them were less than ten yards apart, which was the range in which crystal finger would be the most effective. Since the water puppet was made up of water elements, his crystal finger was even more powerful than Saleen’s. With this finger, a white hexagonal mark was created.

The temperature within the next ten yards dropped instantaneously. The Tanggulasi heavy-armored soldiers that had just climbed onto the top of the city wall immediately froze and fell back down, breaking into pieces.

Banchajanna only saw a beam of white light in front of his eyes and then this water element spell pierced right through his soul flame.

Raphael’s magic was meant to deal with the Holy See, but it was equally effective against spirits of the dead. Crystal finger pierced through Banchajanna’s skull and froze his soul flame. A clear breaking sound followed and the soul flame had broken into pieces.

Banchajanna fell and the top of the city wall was blanketed in white mist. The water puppet’s finger exploded. The reverberation from killing the death king was too strong. The water puppet became dispirited immediately. He was different from Saleen. He was able to concentrate all his energy into one finger and while crystal finger killed Banchajanna, it also used up all of his energy.

To kill with one hit was Saleen’s order.

“My Lord!” Soldiers from afar saw Saleen falling and were rushing forward.

“Back down!” Saleen walked out from his room and dashed towards Banchajanna’s corpse. At the same time, he stored the water puppet back into his calabash.

Saleen reached into Banchajanna’s eye socket and retrieved the broken pieces of soul flame before keeping them in a dimension stone.

The soldiers stopped in their tracks when they realized that their Lord was still alive. The battle was about to come to an end.

After Sika broke Diyabannersa’s wrist, the skeleton below her suddenly opened its mouth and bit onto Diyabannersa’s ankle. After chewing twice, both of Diyabannersa’s feet were bitten off.

An unimpressive creature had just bitten off a ten-thousand year-old spirit of the dead’s feet.

Nailisi felt a chill in her spine. She had been right all along. One could never afford to cross paths with Sika. That skeleton must have been left behind by a powerful creature that even Nailisi was not aware of. She dashed in front of Judikaka even as her mind was racing. Judikaka was shivering. When Saleen took away Banchajanna’s soul flame, he could sense that the power of the soul flame had been absorbed and stored in an unknown dimension.

His power was depleting quickly!

Judikaka threw a punch at Nailisi. At that point in time, one scepter had already been lost and its power could no longer be fully utilized. His only hope was to injure Nailisi and use the chance to escape.

Nailisi twisted her body in mid-air and dodged Judikaka’s punch effortlessly. At this point, a pair of wings grew from her back. Judikaka realized in despair that Nailisi’s body was becoming bigger and a dark silver-colored tail appeared from behind.

“Demon!”

Judikaka feared demons because long ago Shanglan’s subordinates consisted of demons and devils. They were the ones that always bullied the three of them. They were always on the losing end when Shanglan was around and when Shanglan was gone, so did the devil.

Nailisi’s body twisted in mid-air like a snake and wrapped around Judikaka. A row of sharp spikes appeared from her spine to the tip of her tail.

Judikaka’s mistake was in thinking of using combat to defeat Nailisi. His combat skills were in no way comparable to Nailisi’s. Nailisi was able to survive in the temple only because her combat skills had long been awakened. She would not have been able to follow Saleen all that while and survive otherwise.

The bony spikes on Nailisi pierced into Judikaka’s body before twisting her body. It was as if Judikaka was being put into a meat grinder. Splinters of his bones flew out, along with a piece of his soul flame.

Judikaka was so desperate that he split his soul flame into two, using one to attack Nailisi and the other to escape. Nailisi opened her mouth and swallowed the soul flame. There was no explosion, but there was a flash of fatigue in Nailisi’s dark green eyes.

After swallowing the soul flame of a death king, she wanted to take a nap so that she could absorb its power properly. This was not the right time. She still needed to protect Saleen so she stopped herself.

Soon after, the soldiers on the city wall witnessed a terrifying scene. Nailisi opened her mouth and there was an aura of death in her sharp teeth. Her mouth was almost a yard wide. Inside her mouth was a silver-colored tongue which was covered with sharp spikes.

Crunch!

Nailisi accurately bit onto Judikaka’s skull and tore it off. After losing half of his soul flame, Judikaka’s bones had weakened. After being bitten by Nailisi, the other half of his soul flame was also absorbed by her.

Diyabannersa was the only one left now. His soul flame was also weakening. Like Judikaka, he could feel a dimension of emptiness absorbing his soul flame.

Saleen bent down to retrieve his crystal ring and put it back on his finger.

It was a quick battle. When Saleen raised his head once again, he saw a beam of gold light flying towards the city wall.

The gold grand swordmaster was finally on the move. The massive iron monsters had already hedged themselves against the bottom of the city wall. Soldiers began to appear from them and started to climb.

Once the gold grand swordmaster reached the top of the city wall, these soldiers would be able to attack the city wall easily.
