Chapter 789: Sword of Burst (Part 1)

Nicholas’ body was rooted to the ground. He wanted to go to the palace to help, but he did not dare to. As a fallen holy priest, he was as good as dead if he encountered a heavenly angel. As a follower, he was willing to fight hard for Saleen, but if he returned, he would be giving up his life.

A battle that would guarantee his death left Nicholas hesitant.

“Su, go back! Something has happened at the palace! Wear your armor. If you don’t wear it this time, you will surely die,” Nicholas said to Su.

“Something happened?” Su looked at Nicholas in confusion.

“I can’t go back or else I will die. Leave this place to me. If that powerful grade-9 mage appears, I can still try to battle him and stand a chance. If I go back, there is no chance of me surviving at all. An angel is there.”

Su’s face sank. He knew what it meant for Nicholas to refuse to go back and provide reinforcements even though he was a follower. Saleen was in extreme danger and there was nothing that Nicholas could do.

Su silently took the armor that Joey had refined out from his leather bag. In order to solidify his foundations, he has refused to wear it because only golden grand swordmasters would be able to fully maximize the power of the armor. As a silver grand swordmaster, wearing the armor would only increase his powers, but would also be detrimental to Su’s growth.

Now, Su had no choice but to wear the powerful armor. He had to hurry back and only the armor would provide him with the ability to fly over long distances.

“Su, almost all physical attacks are ineffective to angels. You must…”

“I understand.” Su tightened his belt and put on the long sword that Saleen had refined for him. Then, he jumped down the city wall and a pair of metallic wings spread open on the back of his armor. The wings exuded faint golden sword aura and Su flew towards the palace like a huge golden eagle.

Outside of Saleen’s bedroom, Cuisi stretched out his hand with difficulty. He moved his fingernails and a silvery white light cut off the wire that had trapped his legs. Then, he removed the two iron needles stuck in his thigh and finally, the arrow that Eleanor had shot at him.

The tip of this arrow had already been removed and in its place was a sharp wooden pole. Eleanor’s archery skills were too amazing as the arrow that she had shot at Cuisi’s thigh only left behind a hole without damaging any vital parts.

Removing the wire and iron needles also eliminated the paralyzing effects of the poison. Cuisi was now able to regain his mobility. He raised his head and saw Eleanor fleeing for her life. Behind her was something that was only half his height and looked extremely strange for it had a pair of wings that looked pale and diseased.

Despite how annoying it looked, it was a fact that the fellow pursuing Eleanor was much stronger than Cuisi. He looked troubled even as he flapped his wings. The poison had yet to disperse completely, so he was still unable to fly.

The angel pursued fearlessly. Summoning him was the Holy See’s last resort. Losing those disciples was not a big deal, but this time around, the Holy See managed to plant a summoner amongst the group of envoys. By doing so, the Holy See would never have genuine allies from then on.

In the future, the envoys of the Tanggulasi Empire would never be received with hospitality. Under the influence of religion, the honor of Tanggulasi noble families had been completely stripped.

Heavenly angels were not living creatures. They were tools used by heaven for battles. They had no feelings, much less any compassion. The order that he had received was to destroy the palace of Daliang City and to kill Saleen.

By right, he should have gone straight to the palace. As a weapon, the grade-9 heaven angel sensed the danger posed by Eleanor, so he decided that he would kill her first before heading the palace to kill every living creature there.

The water puppet was carrying Eleanor as water shield was constantly being activated on the surface of his body. As a puppet, he was not as proficient in casting this grade-4 defense spell compared to Saleen. Not only could Saleen’s water shield provide a level of defense that was the peak of middle-level spells, it could also combine with darkness shield. It would appear when the water shield broke.

That was a grade-7 advanced spell and the water puppet was unable to handle such a complicated manoeuvre.

Even so, the resilience of the water shield was beyond what the heavenly angel expected. When he swung his Sword of Light onto the water puppet’s defense spell, layers of water shield would break and still, the Sword of Light would never reach the puppet.

The water puppet could sense that he was badly losing the elements within his body. He decided to take off the crystal ring and put it on Eleanor before giving Eleanor and the wings of elf a hard push downwards. Then, he turned around and pounced at the angel.

Eleanor turned back and saw that the water puppet’s body had become transparent, leaving only its face, which still looked like Saleen. The heavenly angel’s Sword of Light suddenly unleashed a bright light and the cut water puppet’s body up hundreds of times. Each time, it would reintegrate into thinner pieces.

Eleanor knew it was just a puppet, but she still shed tears for it, as if it were Saleen. She took out an arrow from her quiver and notched it onto Seven Nights. She prepared a few months’ worth of life strength and soul strength and infused them into the arrow.

The water puppet’s body disintegrated into pieces instantaneously. Even its head was completely crushed. The thick water elements turned into hundreds of water streams that wrapped up the heavenly angel. Eleanor shot her arrow, which pierced through the heavenly angel’s body. This time, it howled with rage.

The life arrow could take away an enemy’s life. Eleanor gave everything she had into the arrow and used up one-sixth of the power stored in the quiver. This was the most powerful arrow she could have shot at her grade and it could take away more than a thousand years of the enemy’s life.

Heavenly angels did not have a long lifespan, only three-thousand years. The water puppet’s crystal finger was not a physical attack and was a technique that Rafael used against Gods. The water puppet’s attack had already injured the angel badly. It was just that as long as a weapon like the heavenly angel was still alive, it would always be able to deal out damage at a grade-9 standard.

Eleanor took out another arrow and shot it with all her might. The arrow would be able to take away five-hundred years of the heavenly angel’s lifespan.

She could not control her tears though she knew that the person that saved her was just a puppet and not Saleen. One of the wings of elf was already broken and it was crashing towards the ground. Eleanor twisted her body and managed to see the water streams, that the water puppet had turned into, being cut off by the Sword of Light.

The Angel, who was half-transparent now, rushed towards her like a meteor. The Sword of Light was still blinding in its hands.

Eleanor turned her head back and saw that she was less than three-hundred yards away from the ground. Within such a short time, the powerful water puppet had been hacked into pieces and she had fallen only slightly more than seven-hundred yards.

“There is no one else I can depend on, so I will just have to depend on myself.” Eleanor fingered the edges of her quiver and in a moment, the Elf Emperor Arrow appeared in her hands.

The heavenly angel froze momentarily and Eleanor’s expression changed from one of fragility to dignified. It was as if she was the one pursuing the enemy, and not the one crashing towards the ground. The string of Seven Nights vibrated, producing a loud noise.

Buzz… Boom!

The elements in the surrounding area all vibrated along with the string of the bow. Elf Emperor Arrow was a technique that command elements and was one of the purest elemental attack.

The three magic towers unleashed powerful elemental currents from far away at the same time, inducing the defense spell within Daliang City. The expression on the heavenly angel was heavy. He swung his sword multiple times towards the front, like a swordsman who was learning swordsmanship for the first time.

A simple action like that created ripple effects in the air. The spell that was supposed to stop him from flying had failed. The heavenly angel flapped his wings and his body became thinner as his lower body became almost completely transparent. His Sword of Light managed to hack the tail of wings of an elf into pieces.

The defense of the magic towers still managed to delay his actions by a few frames of time.

Eleanor was falling much faster as the wings of an elf had almost been completely destroyed. She quickly cast a wind travel spell, but it was futile in reducing her downward momentum.

The power of the angel’s sword could not be converted. A grade-6 Wind Travel spell was no match for the attack of a grade-9 opponent.

Cuisi saw that Eleanor was in danger, so he had no time to care about the lack of strength in his body. He took out a small plate and unleashed the stone statue army that Saleen had given to him. Unless the leading stone statue of the stone statue army had been crushed, they would continue to absorb energy from the ground to continuously revive themselves. Saleen had spent quite a lot of effort to repair the leading stone statue. The thing was a nightmare for warriors.

After slotting the rectangular plate into the chest of the leading stone statue, it began to unleash its subordinate stone statues. Cuisi flapped his wings and flew towards Eleanor. His long whip curled towards her waist. The spikes on the whip had been retracted, leaving it smooth and soft.

When the heavenly angel saw that Eleanor was about to escape, the Sword of Light was no longer being wielded simply. Instead, it was raised while he chanted a prayer urgently. A huge illusion appeared from the Sword of Light as it swung towards the ground. The huge illusion harnessed the power of light. All the elements were split apart by this swing of the sword and the illusion sprinted straight towards Eleanor’s back.

Back in the grand hall, Saleen and Lex were still in midst of the darkness dimension. The grade-8 spell was going on for too long.

Saleen was whispering to Lex when he noticed amongst the clothes that had been thrown outside of the water shield that there was a crack on the calabash. He was stunned. The water puppet had been defeated! It was seriously injured and who knew how much time and energy it would take to repair it.

“Lex, something has happened to the water puppet!” Saleen said and sprinted towards his clothes after removing the water shield. The crack on the calabash was not big, but he could see only steam within it. There was only one last remaining strand of pure element that was used to create the water puppet and it was curled up amongst the steam.

Without any hesitation, Saleen took out more than twenty water droplets that had been kept in his devil ring and put them into the calabash. Only then did the crack show signs of recovery.

He had sent the water puppet to be with Eleanor because she was weak in close combat. Now that the water puppet had fallen, what about Eleanor? Saleen began to become nervous.
