In an unnamed mountain range, at the same old temple, there were gigantic trees and vines all around that shot up into the sky and reached toward the moons. Darkness covered the area and made it seem dull and cold.
Sizzle!
A bonfire was burning in the old temple and the dry twigs and bamboo would occassionally explode.
The bonfire lit up the darkness. There was no light around and if one hadn’t lit up anything, it would have seemed really terrifying.
But even the bonfire only lit up a small region and the other areas weren’t lit up at all.
Zhong Zi Qi wasn’t afraid. He was a cultivator, a strong one at Legend Realm. He was about to reach Grandmaster Realm and he had a bunch of Celestial Artifacts protecting him, so he wasn’t afraid of those evil spirits.
The bonfire burned. He closed his eyes and used his cultivation technique to improve himself.
His leg had healed and this was just some simple cultivation.
One comprehended one’s body three times a day and only by persisting would one improve. So, Zhong Zi Qi would cross his legs every day to calm himself down.
Hu!
He spat out a mouthful of air. Zhong Zi Qi closed his eyes and looked at the bonfire in melancholy.
“This doesn’t make sense.” Zhong Zi Qi muttered.
The map that he acquired indicated that there was a huge treasure here that was left by a glorious sect.
Apart from meeting the demon and being fortunate to get escape with the red watch, after returning, he searched 900 miles all around and didn’t even find anything.
This made Zhong Zi Qi really confused.
He had searched for treasure for 3,000 years and had a firm belief in his skills. Moreover, the map was real and had been drawn by people from that era. In Zhong Zi Qi’s eyes, it couldn’t be faked.
Moreover, this was indeed a majestic Taoist shrine. The only thing was that it was covered in the forest now.
But everything added together meant that Zhong Zi Qi couldn’t find it.
“Am I going to return empty handed?” Zhong Zi Qi wasn’t willing to accept it.
He lost two Celestial Artifacts this time. Although they weren’t important to him, one was a broken iron rod and the other was a supportive coral ocean map.
But no matter what, they were Celestial Artifacts.
“Haiz, I will search for two more days. If there are no more clues, then I’ll go back.” Zhong Zi Qi looked at the bonfire.
He thought about his home and his family. He thought about his beautiful wife and his two children.
Thinking about it, a huge fire appeared in his eyes. All his beautiful memories were turned to flames.
“No…” Zhong Zi Qi cried out in pain. He retreated in fear and stood far from the bonfire with a stunned expression.
His beautiful wife, his cute children, merciful parents, scenic homeland… all of it was burned by the flames that landed from the sky.
When Zhong Zi Qi returned, everything was turned to dust.
At that moment, Zhong Zi Qi collapsed.
He searched for the culprit but no one knew who it was.
There was only the furnace that brought the fire down on his home!
The furnace wasn’t an ordinary item. Zhong Zi Qi carried it on him and he remembered every single detail; be it patterns, shape, or the formations inside, Zhong Zi Qi memorized it all.
Why did Zhong Zi Qi roam the Nine Skies?
Why did he search the ruins?
Why did he gather Celestial Artifacts?
He just wanted to find the person behind the fire furnace.

Zhong Zi Qi didn’t tell anyone this. He wanted to use his own strength to find the killer and take revenge for people he cared about.
But as time went on, Zhong Zi Qi knew that he wouldn’t be able to take revenge by himself.
He had visited all the secret ruins in the Nine Skies but he didn’t find anything related to the furnace.
“Am I really not going to take revenge?” Zhong Zi Qi was stunned.
But no one could reply to him.
He was not that top talent. He reached peak Legend Realm 3,000 years ago and was nine stages of Grandmaster Realm away from Emperor Realm, much less Celestial Realm.
He would be able to get to Celestial Realm relying solely on himself.
Zhong Zi Qi looked at the bonfire in despair. He thought about all the Celestial Artifacts he collected, but in the end, there were only a few that he could use.
“If I can use the Celestial Artifacts in exchange for a chance for revenge, I will do so without hesitation.” Zhong Zi Qi had an idea.
“Right, trade the Bank of the Universe!” Zhong Zi Qi’s eyes lit up. He could find the Bank of the Universe and use all his Celestial Artifacts to allow the Bank of the Universe to take revenge for his wife, children, parents, and homeland.
“But I don’t have the watch.” Zhong Zi Qi was immediately disappointed.
Without it, he wouldn’t be able to enter the Bank of the Universe.
If he couldn’t get in, how could he take revenge?
Hong!
At that moment, a red light shone in the darkness.
His body shook and he looked on in disbelief. Another red watch appeared.
Tick, tick, tick!
The watch gave out a crisp sound that resounded in his ears that made him immersed.
He saw hope in despair. He reached out his trembling hand and picked up the red watch.
“The heavens are helping me. The heavens are really helping me.” Zhong Zi Qi said emotionally.
Peng!
At that moment, a person appeared at the door. There was no light outside and one couldn’t see his face. But one could see the thin body.
Zhong Zi Qi frowned. He stared at the person. He had never seen him before.
But looking at the aura, he seemed really aggressive; just one look and one knew that he wasn’t kind.
Zhong Zi Qi focused on him. He put away the red watch. He definitely couldn’t lose it.
“Who are you?” Zhong Zi Qi frowned and asked. He sized him up and realized that his skin was cold. The limbs were stiff and more importantly, there was no True Qi flowing within.
He was like a corpse!
But how could a corpse move?
The person didn’t answer Zhong Zi Qi’s question. He just stepped into the temple with a rigid step.
As he flew for too long, it was understandable that the body turned stiff.
The bonfire burned. After the corpse entered the temple, Zhong Zi Qi saw the body.
It was spotted, the skin was white, and the eyes were grey and emotionless.
All the signs showed that this was a corpse.
Zhong Zi Qi frowned. He raised his True Qi and prepared to strike, but in the next second, the corpse actually opened its mouth.
“All meetings in this world are just people reuniting. Mr. Zhong, long time no see.”
His voice was gentle like an old friend saying hi. Zhong Zi Qi didn’t notice at first but when he heard that voice, he shuddered and was utterly terrified.
Demon!!!
