Yue Gu Zai showered and dressed after his nap. He walked back to the study room, and he looked coldly at Tan Hai who was snooping through his work documents.
‘What are you doing here?’ Yue Gu Zai asked.
Tan Hai was startled by Yue Gu Zai’s cold voice. She turned around, and looked at him. His wet hair added to his allure.
‘I… I saw the lights were on in the study room,’ Tan Hai said. ‘I brought you a glass of milk.’
Yue Gu Zai glanced at Tan Hai’s see through white mini nightgown, and he understood her true intention. If he didn’t consider Zhen Zhen’s feelings, he would have kicked the deluded Tan Hai outside sooner.
‘Go outside now,’ Yue Gu Zai said.
Tan Hai didn’t understand why Yue Gu Zai wasn’t affected by her half nakedness. Most men flew around her like flies.
Tan Hai pretended to trip, but Yue Gu Zai stepped aside and let her fall on the floor.
‘If the fall didn’t kill you then get out,’ Yue Gu Zai said.
Tan Hai stood, cried and she turned around to walk to the door. She couldn’t believe Yue Gu Zai didn’t want to sleep with her.
‘Wait,’ Yue Gu Zai said. ‘Come back and take the glass of milk with you.’
Tan Hai didn’t want to give up on the man of her dreams. She took off her nightgown and stood naked in front of Yue Gu Zai. Most men dreamt about her being naked, but Yue Gu Zai was indifferent to her naked body.
‘How can I lose to Zhen Zhen?’ Tan Hai asked. ‘I’m a virgin. Do you know where big brother Yan Fen found Zhen Zhen? He found her at Dui Lan. Do you know how many men slept with her…’
Tan Hai stopped talking because Yue Gu Zai was choking her.
‘You can’t compare to my wife,’ Yue Gu Zai said. ‘Looking at you makes me sick.’
Yue Gu Zai let go of Tan Hai’s neck a second before she choked to death.
‘Get out!’ Yue Gu Zai said.
Tan Hai picked up her nightgown, and she ran outside crying.
In Tan Hai’s state of rejection, she didn’t notice she ran past Zhen Zhen. But Yue Gu Zai saw Zhen Zhen.
‘Zhen Zhen, why aren’t you sleeping?’ Yue Gu Zai asked.
‘I couldn’t sleep without you,’ Zhen Zhen said calmly like she didn’t see a naked woman running out of the study room.
Zhen Zhen put the glass of milk she was holding on the desk.
‘Gu Zai, I brought you a glass of milk too,’ Zhen Zhen said. ‘I hope you won’t chase me away too.’
Yue Gu Zai was happy to hear the jealous tone in Zhen Zhen’s voice. He picked up the glass of milk Zhen Zhen brought him, and he drank it in one gulp.
‘Go back to bed,’ Yue Gu Zai said. ‘I’ll come to bed as soon as I finish work for the night.’
Zhen Zhen returned to bed, but she didn’t fall asleep until Yue Gu Zai was lying next to her.
On Monday, Tan Cuo passed the initiation tests, and he became a member of Ni Sheng. Yan Fen was happy for Tan Cuo. But Tan Hai acted strange, she wore a necklace that covered her whole neck.
Tan Hai couldn’t believe Yue Gu Zai rejected her. She wanted to take out her disappointment on Zhen Zhen while Yue Gu Zai wasn’t home.
‘Let’s play a poker game,’ Tan Hai said. ‘The winner gets to hit the person who loses all their money first.’
‘How can a man hit a woman?’ Tan Cuo asked.
‘If a man wins, he can hit the women softly,’ Tan Hai said.
‘Miss Tan is right,’ Zhen Zhen said. ‘Let’s play poker.’
Tan Hai wanted to hit Zhen Zhen’s head hard enough for Zhen Zhen to be too scared to say anything to Yue Gu Zai.
Unexpectedly, it didn’t take long for Zhen Zhen to make Tan Hai lose all her money first.
‘I lost,’ Tan Hai said. ‘Go ahead and hit me.’
Zhen Zhen smiled at Tan Hai, and she slapped Tan Hai’s cheek hard.
‘You dare hit me?’ Tan Hai asked.
Yan Fen and Tan Cuo were shocked too. They couldn’t believe how hard Zhen Zhen slapped Tan Hai’s cheek.
‘In your heart you know what you did wrong,’ Zhen Zhen said. ‘Just because I let most things slide, it doesn’t mean I’ll let you walk all over me.’
Zhen Zhen stood and she left the living room.
‘Yan Fen, even if Miss Zhen Zhen is boss’ wife, she shouldn’t have hit Tan Hai so hard for no reason,’ Tan Cuo said.
‘This is boss’ home,’ Yan Fen said. ‘It’s not the Tan Household. You two should be respectful while you’re in boss’ home. Zhen Zhen isn’t someone who would hit another person for no reason. Tan Hai, you should know your place and not cross the line again.’
Tan Cuo understood Tan Hai wouldn’t tolerate being hit unless she was in the wrong.
‘Little sister, listen to Yan Fen,’ Tan Cuo said. ‘This isn’t our home. You shouldn’t offend boss and his wife.’
