Chen Qiyuan touched her ponytail as she glanced back, smiling.
Lin Sifei turned back to Director Chen, “What do you think, Director Chen? I think that we can basically lock her in.”
Director Chen, seemingly just coming back to reality after Lin Sifei called him, scratched his hair and said, “There’s still a lot of people, she can first go into the possible candidates. Please go back and wait for the news.”
Chen Qiyuan bowed seriously and left the room.
Lin Sifei also returned to her seat, getting her paper out for the next person.
The next one was a pretty bland newcomer. Although they had also acted for a few years, they didn’t have any popularity.
“Let’s take a break, take a break.” Director Chen waved his hand around, leaning back on his chair. “It did seem like the one who acted with you was a good fit, but since there’s a lot of back and forth between Song Qi and Xiao Xing, if there’s no one good for Xiao Xing we also need to change Song Qi.”
Lin Sifei, hearing this, was a little upset. She did think that Chen Qiyuan acted well, and she seemed to be hardworking, so maybe this Chen Qiyuan could make a name for herself.
“There’s a lot of people who can act well in this industry. Are you not confident that you will get a suitable actress for Xiao Xing? Plus, Director Chen, your reputation is here, if someone doesn’t come, they must be stupid?” Lin Sifei frowned.
Director Chen flitted his eyes across her. He thought that this praise was a little heated, or held some passive-aggressive undertones.
“No one with popularity wants to come, understand? The leading actress is a newbie with no experience or popularity, and we need a variety of support roles.”
As he finished, he glanced at Lin Sifei, only to find her tilting her head and glaring at him. He suddenly started, remembering her performance from before. It was good, and captured the essence of the character well.
As he continued thinking about her performance, he started liking it even more, with just a little flaw, “Xiao Yue is blind and doesn’t go out much, you should have expressed a more shaky but still persistent feeling in your step back there.”
Lin Sifei twisted her lips in a pouting fashion, “Xiao Yue was so spoiled growing up, she developed a really high sense of dignity, so she would have her mom and her sister help her do her makeup everyday, and she refuses to take a walking stick when she goes out. This type of person would not have any type of shaky walking. Also, this happened near her house, so she should be familiar with the surrounding area, and she was holding onto the wall.”
Director Chen crossed his arms over his chest, and thinking that she had some reasoning, nodded.
Lin Sifei, seeing his expression, smiled softly, “Director Chen, this time you can stop looking down on me.”
Director Chen glanced at her, “What are you talking about, I’ve never looked down on you.”
Only ghosts would believe you. Lin Sifei turned her head and sat up straight, waiting for the following actresses.
The next few also didn’t seem suitable with Chen Qiyuan, so Director Chen started thinking about other possible actresses.
Lin Sifei peeked at the time. It had already been nine hours since they started, so she knew that she should head back soon, since if she used up all of her 12 hours, that would be problematic.
“Director Chen, that’s it for today, I’m going back.”
“Wait a minute.” Director Chen stood up, “The first version of the script has a few places where the script writers are in disagreement. You picked this script, so I want to hear your opinions. It’s close to dinner time, so we can talk while we eat.”
Lin Sifei took her purse and swept her eyes over him, “Director Chen, you didn’t forget that I took a shortcut, right.”
As she said this, everybody around looked over. Although everyone knew about this thing, this was the first time ever they saw someone admit this by themselves.
“My shortcut was Chair Luo, and I don’t think we need to find anyone else.”
Director Chen smoothed out his hair, exasperatedly looking at her, “You got my point all wrong, I still have that 10 million investment from Chair Luo, don’t worry, no one is touching you.”
“Oh,” Lin Sifei nodded, but then her expression changed, “I also don’t work overtime.”
“Actors not working overtime? Then what about your scenes at night, we need to have an organized work period, what are you going to do?”
“I believe that I can pass all of my scenes in one take, so I’m not working overtime.” Lin Sifei paused as she thought, “Working hard is important, but my body is more important. Please, when you guys are organizing time tables, put my scenes together, so that I can finish it in 12 hours. I can hold off eating, but this is the most important.”
Lin Sifei happily waved towards them and then hurriedly ran away. Director Chen, looking at her back, hated that iron could not become steel, “She’s got good talent, but she’s lazy, really…”
As soon as she got out, Lin Sifei called a car and then sent a message to Luo Ke.
[How are your things going]
Lin Sifei’s phone started vibrating as Luo Ke simply called her.
Lin Sifei immediately picked up, “Hello.”
“Hello,” Luo Ke replied, exactly the same.
Lin Sifei chuckled, “Why are you imitating me? Also, when are you coming back?”
“Tonight.”
“Tonight?! Lin Sifei gasped out loud, “How are you coming back tonight?”
Luo Ke wanted to both laugh and cry, “You wanted me to come back so you rushed me. I’ve just finished my work here, and my flight is soon. What now? You don’t want me to go back?”
“Well, no,” Lin Sifei sighed, “I wanted to give you a little surprise, but you’re coming back so quick, I can’t prepare now.”
“I don’t need a surprise.” In the background of Luo Ke’s audio, one could hear a suitcase closing, “I also want to go back.”
Lin Sifei blushed, “Okay~ then I’ll wait for you to come back.”
She happily ended the call and got on the cab.
“Please try to drive a little quicker, thanks.”
Lin Sifei rested her head on her hands. She didn’t expect for Luo Ke to be back this early, and she had nearly finished using up all her time as a human. Did she have to meet her in her cat form?
She wasn’t really a fan of that, since Luo Ke’s kindness to her also involved some of Luo Ke’s affinity towards cats in general.
It would be a little while longer until the plane landed, so if she turned into a cat right as she got home, she could get a little more time.
Although the cab driver had already driven quite well, they unfortunately were met with traffic.
Lin Sifei anxiously watched the cars in front of them, sighing a long sigh internally. However, when she looked out the side window, she froze when she saw the small shop front. The sign at the front was orange, and the name was nice too- Orange World1
Lin Sifei looked at the golden image of the orange on there and got an idea. She patted the driver’s arm. “Hey, I’m going to get off to get something, I’ll be back soon.”
“Ay, wait!” The driver wouldn’t unlock the door. “What if you just left? And then you could write a complaint saying that I didn’t take you to where you needed to be.”
Lin Sifei fished out some cash from her purse and stuffed it to him, “This is the money for this leg, and then when I get my stuff and to my destination, I’ll pay you properly through the app, okay?”
The driver looked at the hundred yuan bill in his hands and nodded. No matter what, he would always profit from this arrangement, since his passenger wouldn’t be able to leave without losing something.
Lin Sifei hurriedly flew to the store. When the driver saw the store she went to, he started whistling.
Lin Sifei came back pretty quickly, with two big bags of stuff in her hands.
When she sat back in the car the driver looked at her with an indescribable expression, so she raised her hand to stop the driver from talking. “Mr. Driver, if your words make me feel uncomfortable in any way, I will immediately report you on the app.”
The driver made a tsk sound as he turned back to the road.
After waiting a little bit longer the cars finally started moving again, and they left the traffic behind them, reaching the villa community quite fast.
Lin Sifei took her bags and got off, cheerfully walking into the neighborhood.
Sorry for not updating for the past week~ I scratched my cornea which was very painful and it kept me off electronics. In any case, I’m all better now, thanks for reading!
