Luo Ke finished changing into her work clothes before poking a certain cat sprawled all over her bed in the head, “Get up, little lazy cat.”
Lin Sifei licked her dry lips and cracked open her sleep-bleary eyes to look at her.
Luo Ke picked her up and walked downstairs.
Between Luo Ke waking and the bumpy ride downstairs, Lin Sifei quickly woke up completely. She looked up at Luo Ke’s face and patted her nose with her paw, “Meow~”
“My cold has cleared up,” Luo Ke said. She was overall pretty healthy after all, and had taken her medicine, so after a good night’s sleep her energy had returned.
Lin Sifei had slept in her human form, so she had probably been forced back into her cat form during the night. She yawned, unbothered, since now she had 12 hours in her cat form to interact with the little stupid ragdoll next door.
She lowered her head to eat her cat food. It had been some time since she last ate it, after all, so she was not really used to it.
She wasn’t all that annoyed, though, since Luo Ke’s pitiful state last night really made her not want to turn into a cat since she wanted to hug Luo Ke and give her a feeling of comfort.
She licked her chin as she finished, full.
“Done? Let’s go to work.”
Lin Sifei’s eyes turned as she thought about something, and then picked up the phone to type, [I want to stay at home today.]
“Why?”
[Yuan Mo’s ragdoll cat sent a stress signal, I want to go take a look.]
Luo Ke’s face immediately darkened, “The last one that you didn’t like from that blind date? Don’t you not like male cats?”
[I don’t like him, but I want to go visit out of sympathy.]
Luo Ke sucked in a deep breath, a little uncomfortable about this thing. But, she couldn’t really refuse, so she reached out a hand to Lin Sifei, “Let’s go, I can bring you over.”
[You can go to work.]
Luo Ke grew more worried, since it really did feel like some fishy stuff was going on. She raised an eyebrow, saying, “No worries, I’ll make sure nothing happens and then I’ll go to work.”
Lin Sifei couldn’t do anything else but hope that Yan Yafei was already gone. She didn’t want Luo Ke to be meeting Yan Yafei often; her sixth sense told her that it really was not good.
Luo Ke, holding Lin Sifei in her arms, went and knocked on Yuan Mo’s door. Yan Yafei, in her pajamas, opened the door.
When they both saw each other, they both froze.
Suppressing her surprise, Luo Ke asked, “Is Yuan Mo home?”
“He’s currently washing up, do you have any business with him?” Yan Yafei blocked the doorway, as if she was also the homeowner.
“I’m here to see his cat,” Luo Ke replied. “Is blocking the doorway a bad habit of yours? I recommend you change it.”
She walked forward, and Lin Sifei in her arms revealed her fangs and claws. Yan Yafei, scared, stepped backwards.
Luo Ke swiftly closed the door, walking towards the living room and sitting down on the sofa.
Yan Yafei huffed, “This isn’t very polite of you, Yuan Mo didn’t say that you could come in.”
Luo Ke didn’t spare a glance at her as she scanned the surroundings, observing a pile of cat toys and reflecting if she needed to prepare some for her Xiaoxiao.
“I was talking to you.” Yan Yafei’s voice grew shriller.
“Feifei, who is it?” Yuan Mo walked over, using a towel to dry his hair.
Luo Ke raised her head at the sound, and Yuan Mo froze where he was on the stairs, hurriedly pulling his robe completely close, hiding the pectorals he had previously wanted to show off to Yan Yafei.
He awkwardly laughed it off and sat on the sofa, asking, “Chair Luo, why are you here?”
“I’m here to visit your cat, my Xiaoxiao apparently wants to see him.”
Yuan Mo’s cheeks, hearing that, couldn’t help but twitch a little, “Um, she wouldn’t hit Shuaishuai again, would she.”
Remember his experience from last time, Yuan Mo felt that Luo Ke really had some filters when it came to her cat.
But since Luo Ke had asked, he didn’t see a point in refusing so he called Shuaishuai over.
Shuaishuai shivered upon entering the living room. After all, he saw Yan Yafei, and then he saw Lin Sifei, which made him want to fall down unconscious on the spot.
“Meow~” Did Yan Yafei hit you?
Shuaishuai opened his eyes wide towards Lin Sifei, and, forgetting his painful lesson last time, slithered near her, “How did you know! But I guess she technically didn’t hit me. I just wanted to go into the bedroom, but she kicked me out.”
Shuaishuai leaned forward, full of resent, “My waist still hurts, she kicks really hard.”
“Did you not, like, call out or meow?” Lin Sifei said as she shifted herself away slightly.
Shuaishuai didn’t notice Lin Sifei’s move as he tried to recall what he did yesterday, “I did.”
Did Yuan Mo not come to find out what had happened.
Shuaishuai felt even more wronged as he replied, “He did, but that mean women lied and said that I accidentally hit my head.”
He sighed, “She had just kicked me, and so I hid behind a flower pot, and my owner really did believe that I had hit my head.”
“Did you hit your head often before?” Lin Sifei said, slightly disapproving.
Shuaishuai lowered his head embarrassedly, “No, not too often.”
""
Lin Sifei’s resolve started wavering, after all, it wasn’t great if her ally was too stupid. However, she caught sight of him looking towards Yuan Mo, and then caught sight of Yuan Mo and Yan Yafei’s bantering.
Shuaishuai’s eyes grew watery and he laid down on the ground, not moving.
Lin Sifei sighed, “Let me tell you, next time she touches you, you scratch and bite her. She kicked you right, don’t just run away, pounce back on her and bite.”
“Ah? But she would of course hit me even harder.” Shuaishuai shook his head fearfully.
“Of course, do it when your owner Yuan Mo is here. Not only do you scratch her, you also have to yowl, and pretend to be hurt. When he comes over, you can just lay back on the ground and pretend that your leg broke or something.”
Shuaishuai was still hesitant, since he was afraid of pain and was generally a very likeable cat, so he didn’t have much strength for a fight like that. Plus, he was still afraid of biting and scratching people. Since that woman didn’t come too often, he would just hide away every time.
Lin Sifei immediately saw through his train of thought, and sighed, “Do you think your stepping back would make that woman forget about you? She would of course say bad things about you to your owner and make him get rid of you, which would make you a stray sooner or later.”
Shuaishuai’s eyes grew wide. He had seen homeless, stray cats before, at the veterinary hospital, since there were always stray cats coming in for treatment. At least from what he had seen, these stray cats were often full of mites and ticks, miserable and suffering.
He couldn’t help but shiver a little; he didn’t want to become like that.
Lin Sifei patted his head, “Listen to me, you can’t go wrong.”
As she rested her paws a little too long, Yuan Mo hurriedly scooped up Shuaishuai and backed away a few steps.
Lin Sifei was also shocked into jumping up and scurrying back near Luo Ke.
Luo Ke frowned slightly, “You’ve scared my cat.”
Yuan Mo rubbed his nose awkwardly, “I was afraid that she was going to hit Shuaishuai again, and checked that he was fine.”
Lin Sifei curled up in Luo Ke’s arms, looking at Shuaishuai receiving attention, and then remembering Yan Yafei’s jealous expression. How refreshed she felt after those images.
She hooked a paw onto Luo Ke’s clothes, rubbing against her, “Meow~”
Luo Ke stood up, “Xiaoxiao didn’t hit him, don’t worry. If there isn’t anything else, I’ll be leaving now.”
Yuan Mo absentmindedly said “Bye,” before he continued parting Shuaishuai’s fur, trying to find any wounds.
Luo Ke walked out the door before she sent Yuan Mo a message.
Yuan Mo picked up his phone and frowned.
[You’re cat isn’t really safe being home alone, other than sealing your windows, I recommend you put some cameras up inside your house.]
