When she left the Wang family residence, Xia Jin turned her head to look at the huge but empty house.
Zhu Ya was really pitiful. She was about to give birth, yet Wang Ran was out all day courting women. He would not even go home to check on her.

On her day off, Xia Jin was browsing the internet at home when her phone suddenly rang. Gao Lan had sent her a message. “Xiao Jin, I’ve finally found a secretary. I gave her the booklet you wrote. Hehe, thank you!”
Xia Jin curled her lips into a smile. She did not take this matter to heart and continued looking for information online.
She had taken Zhu Ya’s matter to heart. When she got home, she did a detailed search on the internet based on the physical traits Zhu Ya had displayed the last time she met her.
Although she knew that Zhu Ya definitely had a specialized doctor, the more she knew about Zhu Ya’s condition, the closer they would be brought together.
At noon, Xia Jin cooked herself chicken noodle soup. As she was eating the noodles and watching TV, her WeChat rang twice.
Wang Ran’s message came over. “Xiao Jin, I want to give you the necklace I bought last time. Give me your address.”
He seemed eager to please Xia Jin. He probably realized that Xia Jin was always indifferent to him, so he was in a hurry to curry favor with Xia Jin. Thus, he was ready to give her another necklace.
Xia Jin put down her chopsticks unhurriedly and wiped the corner of her mouth. Then, she took her time to call back. “I don’t like that necklace. Thank you, Mr. Wang.”
Although she had rejected Wang Ran, her tone was well-chosen. Her delicate voice coupled with a shy and flustered tone. Wang Ran was not upset by her response, and instead, he inquired again, “Then, what kind of necklace do you like? Tell me, and I’ll buy it for you.”
Xia Jin laughed coldly. She gave Wang Ran a perfunctory reply before hanging up the phone.
In the following days, Xia Jin went to see Zhu Ya several more times. She even bought some specialties to supplement her body. Although they were not expensive, one could tell her sincerity from the gifts.
Zhu Ya grew more intimate with her. She even mentioned that her mental state was much better after eating the folk prescription that Xia Jin had told her for two days.
While Zhu Ya was about to give birth, Wang Ran’s attempt to court Xia Jin was still strong.
From what the maids from the Wang family revealed, Wang Ran would not go home for almost an entire week.
Xia Jin pretended to ask dubiously, “Is Mr. Wang too busy with work? How come I don’t see him all the time?”
If Xia Jin had not known Zhu Ya well, she would not have dared to say that, but now that they were very close, Zhu Ya did not mind. She just laughed bitterly. “It’s better if he doesn’t come back because it’s an eyesore if he does.”
At the same time, Xia Jin knew very well that Wang Ran probably did not give the two orders of jewelry she had shown Zhu Ya last time at all.
Zhu Ya must be well aware of all this.
The day of Zhu Ya’s labor was approaching.
Xia Jin’s visits to the Wang residence were even more frequent than Zhu Ya’s good friends.
As Xia Jin worked, she also made time for Zhu Ya. This had greatly reduced Xia Jin’s rest time and after only ten days, there were dark circles under her eyes.
However, Xia Jin did not feel tired. Instead, she was contented. After all, everything was progressing smoothly.
As the day when a pregnant woman’s water breaks were uncertain, Xia Jin felt a little nervous every day when she went to look for Zhu Ya. On this day, she had just arrived at Zhu Ya’s house when she heard the panicked screams of the maids from inside.
Xia Jin walked quickly to Zhu Ya’s side and helped her to lie down on the sofa. Then, she put a cushion under Zhu Ya’s bottom to support her.
Zhu Ya was extremely panicked and scared as this was her first time giving birth. She kept clutching onto Xia Jin’s hand, who patted her gently and kept comforting her.
The ambulance arrived and Zhu Ya was taken to the hospital.
After Zhu Ya’s father died, Zhu Ya did not have anyone who cared about her anymore. The others may have treated her with respect, but they did not actually take her to heart. Therefore, at this moment, Xia Jin was the only one guarding outside the operating room when Zhu Ya was about to give birth.
When the doctor rushed out and asked who the family member of the pregnant woman was, Xia Jin stood up immediately. “Me!”
The doctor asked Xia Jin to sign the papers. Then, he entered the operating room, closing the door behind him. Xia Jin waited outside anxiously.
Just as Xia Jin was waiting in a panic for an unknown amount of time, the doctor finally came out. He was drenched in sweat. “It’s a girl, and both mother and daughter are safe.”
Xia Jin let out a long sigh of relief.
When Zhu Ya was pushed out of the operating room, she saw that Xia Jin was the only one outside the door. She let out a bitter smile.
Xia Jin knew what was going through her mind, and she also knew that she was sad–the only person accompanying her at the moment was actually Xia Jin.
However, this result was exactly what Xia Jin wanted.
She had gone to Zhu Ya’s house many times, and the maids were already familiar with her. When Zhu Ya was giving birth, Xia Jin sent the maids back to get some change of clothes. Then, she set up a ward and came to keep watch over Zhu Ya.
As the first person that Zhu Ya saw after giving birth, Xia Jin believed that Zhu Ya would remember her for the rest of her life..
