I still remember the day we first met. It was a sunny afternoon in September, and I was walking across the campus of the University of Oxford, feeling lost and overwhelmed. I had just arrived in England from the United States, and I didn't know a soul. As I was walking, I stumbled over a pile of books that someone had dropped in the middle of the sidewalk.
"Watch your step," a voice said, and I looked up to see a girl with long, wavy brown hair and striking blue eyes. She was picking up the books, and as she handed them back to me, I noticed a tattoo of a dragon on her wrist.
"Thanks," I said, feeling my face flush with embarrassment. "I'm Emily."
"I'm Olivia," she said with a smile. "What brings you to Oxford?"
I explained that I was starting my degree in Linguistic Anthropology, and Olivia told me she was studying Nuclear Engineering. We exchanged small talk for a few minutes before she had to go to her next class, but as she walked away, I felt a strange pang of longing in my chest.
Over the next few weeks, I saw Olivia around campus, and we would always exchange a quick hello. I admired her from afar, but I didn't have the courage to talk to her more. It wasn't until one evening, when I was studying in the library late, that our paths crossed again.
As I was packing up my books, I heard a knock on the door, and when I opened it, I saw Olivia standing there, looking nervous.
"Hey, Emily," she said. "I was wondering if you wanted to grab a coffee with me. I know we don't really know each other, but I thought it might be nice to get to know you better."
I couldn't believe my luck. "Sure," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I'd love that."
A few months later...

As I sat down on the couch, Emily sat down next to me, her arm brushing against mine. My heart raced, and I struggled to concentrate on the movie. All I could think about was her scent and the warmth of her body next to mine. I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, and then turned to her.
"Emily, can we talk?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Sure, what's up?" she replied, turning to face me.
"I don't know how to say this, but I've been struggling with my feelings for you for a while now. And I just can't keep it inside anymore."
Emily's eyes widened, and I could see the surprise and confusion in them.
"I know this might be unexpected and I don't want to make things awkward between us, but I just had to tell you. I understand if you don't feel the same way, and I don't want to pressure you into anything."
Emily looked at me for a moment, taking in what I had said. And then, to my surprise, she leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips.
"I've been feeling the same way, Olivia," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just didn't know how to tell you."
We sat there, our bodies close, kissing and exploring each other. The world outside seemed to fade away as we lost ourselves in the moment.
It was then that I knew, without a doubt, that Emily was the one I had been searching for. And from that moment on, nothing could ever come between us.
