Chapter 9: Sick

Emily had been feeling unwell for the past few days, and I was growing increasingly worried about her. It wasn't like her to stay in bed all day and miss class. So, I decided to pay her a visit.

When I arrived at her dorm room, Emily was still in bed, bundled up in blankets. She looked up at me with a weak smile and tried to sit up, but she winced in pain.

"Hey," I said softly, moving closer to her. "How are you feeling?"

"Not great," she replied, her voice hoarse. "But I'll be okay."

I could tell that she was trying to be strong, but I could also see the pain etched on her face. Without hesitation, I pulled up a chair and sat down beside her, taking her hand in mine.

"I'm here now," I said gently. "And I'm going to take care of you."

For the rest of the day, I stayed with Emily, making sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. I brought her soup and tea, and we talked and watched movies together. It felt good to be there for her in her time of need.

As the evening drew to a close, Emily's eyes began to droop, and I could tell she was exhausted. I helped her settle down in her bed, tucking the blankets around her tightly.

"Get some rest," I whispered, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "I'll be here if you need anything."

As I turned to leave, Emily caught my hand, pulling me back towards her. Her eyes were soft and vulnerable, and my heart swelled with love for her.

"Stay with me," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Without a word, I climbed into the bed beside her, wrapping my arms around her protectively. I could feel her body relax against mine, and I knew that I had done the right thing in coming to be with her.

For the rest of the night, I held her close, keeping her warm and safe. It was a simple act of love, but it meant everything to both of us. And as I drifted off to sleep beside her, I knew that I would always be there for Emily, no matter what.
