Chapter 11: Ghostly Qi Rolling Around, Heavy Rain Splashing the Sky

It was not long before this matter would reach the ears of the Ji family, and several of the great families in the ancient city of Tai Chu were all gleeful, waiting secretly to see what the Ji family would do.

The night was getting colder and colder, and it was not long before the rain came down wrapped in cold air.

It was already the ugly hour and the full moon was in the sky.

The bright white moonlight poured through the rain, adding an eerie whiteness to the dilapidated Taoist temple at the edge of the mountain range.

Ji Yue Nian dispersed some of the Profound Energy covering his head, looked back again at the intensifying night rain, and then pushed open the ramshackle door of the main hall of the Taoist temple and walked in.

This rain was not ordinary rain.

Even if he had the cultivation level of the early Profound Energy, if he forced himself to walk through the rain, he was afraid that in just one incense stick he would exhaust all his Profound Energy and even his heart fire would be extinguished.

There is nothing unusual about the thunder, frost, rain, snow and other phenomena in the sky and earth.

However, it is not difficult to avoid them. All ordinary beings need to do is to worship the gods of the land and the earth in their area, and to take extra care to hide in time when they come, so that they will not suffer from them.

In essence, the celestial signs that appear from time to time are just one of the countless ways in which the inaccessible Heavenly Court of the Thirty-three Heavens collects faith.

“Demons? Ghosts? Or people?”

A somewhat panicked voice reached his ears.

Ji Yue Nian closed the heavy and dilapidated door of the temple and looked back, only then did he realise that several people were already present in this Taoist temple.

The person who spoke was a stout man with a grave expression.

The other two people in the Taoist temple were a pair of white children, about four or five years old, draped in a few simple leaves of a large tong tree, who were staring at him with unblinking eyes, their eyes overflowing with caution.

A mundane man, two newborn grass and wood demon spirits.

Ji Yue Nian made his judgement in an instant.

When the burly man saw Ji Yue Nian’s silence, he could not help but feel even more panicked, so he pulled out a long iron sword from behind himself and held it in front of him, forcing himself to remain calm and said, “No matter who you are, I have no grudge against you.

I had escaped from the claws of a vicious tiger that was about to turn into a demon, and then I encountered this fatal night rain, so I had no choice but to seek refuge in this Taoist temple, but I ran into two small demons.

He shook his head and said, “I am not a demon, nor I am a ghost.”

The burly man sighed with relief at his words, but his hand on the sword did not let up a bit.

Black wind suddenly started.

“Watch out!” A grass and wood demon spirit scrunched up its small white face and shouted urgently.

Ji Yue Nian had sensed this and leapt towards the viewpoint, leaving the door of the hall in a few moments.

The raging ghost wind passed through the gap in the hall door and whirled into the hall, gradually condensing and twisting from where Ji Yue Nian had been standing earlier, transforming into a young girl in black with a clear face after a few breaths.

The black-clothed girl looked indifferent and glanced coldly at the grass and wood demon spirit who had spoken before looking at Ji Yue Nian and said in a hoarse voice: “You came out of the barrier of the Heavenly Furnace, can you tell me what is inside? Is it true that, as the rumours say, the Qing Luan Mountain Range, which is covered by the Heavenly Furnace Barrier, is a holy place of cultivation for demons, spirits and ghosts?”

The Qingluan Mountain Range is located thousands of miles west of Taichu Ancient City. Due to the existence and obstruction of the Heavenly Furnace barrier, it has always been mysterious, and few people know it’s true meaning.

Although human beings are not blocked by the Heavenly Furnace Barrier, they are also vaguely aware of the existence of powerful demons within it, so they have always stayed away from it. Only the many weak native spirits and demons within the hundreds of miles around the Green Luan Mountain Range have an inexplicable yearning for the mysterious Qingluan Mountain Range.

Ji Yue Nian was stunned for a moment, pondered for a moment and laughed, “It’s better for you not to know.”

The black-clothed girl’s eyes sank slightly, and her green onion-like white jade fingers moved slightly as the dense ghostly aura around her body tumbled more and more violently: “I cast a soul retracing spell a few times ago and learned that Cui Niang was killed by you, so I chased her all the way over here. I have not yet bothered you about this matter, so you should honestly tell me about the Qing Luan Mountain Range, and I can consider letting you live.”

“Cui …… Cui Niang?” Ji Yue Nian frowned slightly, his face was puzzled.

“Cui Niang is a thorn flower demon, has always been familiar with me,” the black-clothed girl’s expression became more and more ugly, “I was melted by you with a dark flame spell not long ago.”

Ji Yue Nian seemed to have finally remembered and said with a start, “I remember now, you mean that incredibly ugly withered vine demon? Please don’t worry, I have already sent her back to the next life, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

“You want to die!” The young girl finally realised that Ji Yue Nian was teasing her, and in her rage, her face was twisted to the limit, and a harsh and spiteful ghostly howl came out of her mouth!

The upper realm of Profound Energy!

There was a huge difference between ghosts and the weaker grass and wood demons, and their combat power was far more terrifying with the same cultivation level of the Upper Profound Energy level.

The strong man on the other side had no such means, and as he cried out in terror, he was directly soaked by the ghostly energy into his body, and in a few moments his whole body was turned into a pure white gas, which was inhaled by the girl in black.

Boom!

The two grass and wood demon spirits joined hands to condense a demonic curtain of light to block the ghostly sound wave.

“A bunch of trash.”

The black-clothed girl sneered, her snow-white hands dancing lightly as the ghostly qi wrapped around her body wildly, eventually coalescing into two huge ink-black hands that grabbed towards Ji Yue Nian and the two grass and wood demon spirits respectively!

Boom!

The already dilapidated Taoist temple was burst apart by the giant hands of ghostly qi, completely bursting into pieces.

The moonlight was grey and dark clouds were pressing down.

The rain poured down without cover.

Ji Yue Nian had no more Profound Energy to shield him from the rain, and his long, dark hair was soaked in the rain in a few moments, draping over his fair forehead.

The only remaining deep blue profound energy within the Shen Gong acupuncture point was being rapidly reduced within the rain curtain. If this continues, I am afraid that in at most one more incense stick, the rain will erode all the Profound Energy.
