Chapter 86: Chapter 85 Jiu Lin is Innocent (4)

Chen Bin, the rest of the physicians, and their helpers went in the direction where they often see herbs. There are two patrols in front and at the back of them and one each at the side. This way the physicians are surrounded by their protection.

Ke Rin got a helper now. He is with that beastman whom he just made friends with. The beastman didn't hunt anymore but helped him to have that balm once it was made.

Ke Rin didn't ask for any helper except for him. All the helpers are helping his Daddies and that one physician from the bad female, Shen Si, who indirectly killed his mom.

If they could, they wouldn't let him join today's harvesting but since he is also working for the Tribe, they can't turn him down when he asked to come.

They never talked to that physician and kept their distance. He also has a team to protect him so it is fine to not be close to him.

The hunters went hunting, some to get living wild animals. They need to do it fast and come back to the group. They can only hunt nearby too, as they have physicians in the group. Right now, they are just not hunting but also clearing the surroundings where physicians are.

Once they got enough prey, they would come back to the group. It's also dangerous to hold such prey as wild animals might smell them and attack their group. The physicians would just spread some powdered medicine to take away the smell but it doesn't guarantee that wild animals won't smell a hint of it.

When Chen Bin saw that the sun is going down already, he remembered about Hu'er. "Let's go back."

Yun He looks at him, and then in the direction of the sun, "Let's go." with that everyone walks back to the Tribe.

Chen Bin gave the plants he harvested to Yun He and immediately took a bath. Yun He understood why he did that and just organized Chen Bin's herbs.

Meanwhile, in the Tribe Leader's house, the Old Lady is telling Hu'er some things she should do when her heat comes.

Hu'er now knows that they don't have blood that will come every month. It made sense since they don't really have a 'month' but call it a season. They will mostly get it by spring, some in winter. It is rare to have it in fall and summer.

Females will get that heat when they turn ten. It's the reason why the Tribe also made them choose their future mate ahead of time. Once the heat came, they would look for the first mate the female chose.

"Do you understand?" Old Lady asked Hu'er.

"Yes." Hu'er nodded.

"Do you have any questions?" That question is like the rainbow that appeared after the rain.

Every time the Old Lady asks if she has questions, it means all the topics have been discussed. It means the lesson is done. In conclusion, she can finally go home.

Hu'er sighed in relief and shook her head, "None."

Both of them have tactical understanding and organize the things on the floor. After that Hu'er is done.

The old lady stood up and took the basket to the side. She gave it to Hu'er, "Here's a small gift. It's just fruits that we harvested. I know you like berries." 

"Thank you Old Grandmom." Hu'er kissed her.

"What a sweet Hu'er. Oh, right! Before I forgot." The Old Looks at the door and beckons her to get closer.

She leans to her Old Grandmom and perks her ears. Curious about what she is going to whisper to her.

"How's the book?" her Old Grandmom whispered.

Hu'er looks at her Old Grandmom, puzzled. The Old Lady gave her tons of books to read. Based on how sneaky her Old Grandmom looks, she has an idea of what book it is but didn't want to overthink it. "What book?"

"That book… The one with the thing, drawings." The Old lady looks very suspicious that confirms Hu'er suspicion.

"Oh. I opened it but didn't read it."  She shyly smiles.

The Old Lady looks at her, puzzled."What do you mean to read? There is nothing to read there."

"There is… The drawing on the top of the pages and under are some writings…?" Now, she didn't know if she saw it right.

"Drawings at the top?" The old lady looks up, thinking about what Hu'er meant. Then, she remembered something, "Oh! Is the title mating? Well… Ahm. The next page is tails."

"Yes! That one!" Hu'er nodded eagerly.

The Old Lady shook her head and hands. "No. No. No. I gave you the wrong one! They were right. I shouldn't have named it the same as that book. But you also need to read it as it is an important part of a beastman. What you need to avoid and sensitive places are in there."

She didn't notice how dumbfounded Hu'er looks. The Old lady just went ahead and looked for a book. After getting a book, she opened it before giving it to Hu'er,  "Here. I checked it. It is the right book. Make sure to study it well."

"It looks the same…" Hu'er muttered as she inspected the cover of the book.

The Old lady agreed, "Yes. The cover, title, places of fingerprints, and first page are the same as the other book."

Hu'er hesitatingly asks, "Is this book only available for females?"

"No. The beastmen also have it. Although not all of them but all of the beastman who will be mating soon have a copy.

I think my mate gave one to Jiu Lin. We will be giving it to Ke Rin, Shun Su, and Xin Hua. If your future mate, Song Li, wants it, he needs to exchange it for working points as he is still not a part of our Tribe." This answer made Hu'er in a daze.

'So… Jiu Lin is innocent? Well, not that kind of innocent, he definitely opened his book as his reaction back then gave it out.

I shouldn't have blamed him. I was too harsh and unreasonable…. What can I do for Jiu Lin so he can forgive me?

He didn't know the reason why I did that to him though… Should I tell him?" Hu'er feels a little bit panicked and full of guilt.

"Hu'er, are you okay?" Old Lady touched Hu'er. Her eyes are full of worries.

Hu'er calms down and smiles. "Yes, I'm fine."

She is determined. 'Yes, I should tell him. Then, I would give him something, an apology gift!'

Before the Old Lady could even speak, a knock on the door made her stop. She opened the door to see her mate. "Are you two done? Chen Bin has been waiting outside for a while now. I heard he came here as soon as he took a bath."

"Yes. We are done." The Old Lady looks at Hu'er and mouthed, "Hide it." Old Lady distracted her mate as Hu'er puts the book under the basket full of fruits.
