“Daddy, why don’t we go to Grandma’s house during the new year and help Mommy fulfill her filial duties?” Chi Jiao seemed to have a flash of inspiration as she smiled at him.
Chi Mingwei sighed. “I’m afraid your maternal grandparents wouldn’t want to see me.”
“Why not?” Chi Jiao asked, frowning.
“Your grandmother and grandfather both felt that it was because I didn’t take good care of your mother that she passed away at such a young age. That’s why they didn’t want to interact with me for so many years after she passed away,” Chi Mingwei said with a frown.
He had long wanted to help Jiaojiao’s mother fulfill her filial duties. But unfortunately, he couldn’t even enter the Ruan family’s main entrance.
“Daddy, what kind of people are my grandparents?” Chi Jiao asked softly.
“They’re kind people like your mother,” Chi Mingwei said.
“If so, why would they take it out on you because Mom died?” Chi Jiao whispered.
Her mother died entirely because she was sick, not because of her father.
No reasonable person would blame her father for this.
In her previous life, she had interacted with her grandparents as well. Those two elders were definitely not what her father had described.
There must be some kind of misunderstanding.
Chi Mingwei fell into deep thought.
He thought about it carefully and felt that Jiaojiao’s words made sense.
“Then, let’s go to your grandparents’ house tomorrow?” Chi Mingwei asked.
Most importantly, he felt that he should let Jiaojiao see them since she had never seen her maternal grandparents before.
Even if they didn’t like him, they couldn’t possibly dislike Jiaojiao, right?
Jiaojiao was Ruanruan’s biological daughter. Moreover, she looked so similar to Ruanruan and had a likable personality.

When they reached home, Chi Jiao sent Chi Mingwei back to his room to rest.
Then, she took out the magnetic field detector again.
Quan Jue watched as she walked back and forth in the living room with the detector. “Jiaojiao, what are you doing?”
Chi Jiao quickly walked around the living room with the detector. Then, she returned to Quan Jue and frowned. “I’m looking for whatever corrupted my father’s mind. Mental corruptions have to be done through an object as a medium. If we can’t find it, it will continue to affect our health at home.”
Quan Jue looked at her furrowed brows. He placed his finger on her brows and gently caressed them. “I’ll help you find it.”
With that, Quan Jue took the device from her hands.
“Sit down and rest,” he said, then pulled her to the sofa.
Chi Jiao sat down obediently.
Then, Quan Jue went to the kitchen first.
After about five to six minutes, he came out with a glass of milk and a bag of strawberry biscuits.
Chi Jiao watched as Quan Jue placed the milk and biscuits on the coffee table. She heard him say, “You didn’t eat much this afternoon. Eat this to cushion your hunger first. I’ll cook something delicious for you tonight.”
Her eyes immediately curved into crescents.
“Brother Quan, I realized you have the potential to be a good wife and a good mother.”
The girl’s sweet voice carried a teasing smile.
Quan Jue’s lips twitched. He bent down and pinched her cheek. “Are you being naughty?”
His movements were light and loving.
Chi Jiao looked up at him with sparkling eyes. “I’m praising you.”
“Then I’ll reward you.” After the young man’s deep voice fell, a kiss landed on Chi Jiao’s lips.
