Jiang Wan was brought to the hospital.
After the doctor’s diagnosis, he concluded that she had been worrying too much recently, experiencing high amounts of stress, and had not been eating properly. That was why she had fainted.
Jiang Wan quietly laid on the hospital bed as glucose was administered to her through a drip. She had not woken up yet.
Jiang Chenglang looked at her quiet sleeping face, his mind a little confused.
Five years ago, when Father Jiang had still been alive, he had gone to the beach with Father Jiang to discuss business with a client. It was not until after the business was settled that his stepmother and Jiang Wan arrived at the beach. The few of them had spent a few more days by the beach.
The evening before Mother Jiang and Jiang Wan arrived, as the dusk settled in, so did the business deal. Jiang Chenglang relaxed and went to the beach to swim.
He had been a good swimmer since he was young so he didn’t think too much and swam straight into the deep end.
Suddenly, his leg cramped.
His leg couldn’t exert any strength. Jiang Chenglang wanted to call for help but he was pushed down by a large wave. He slapped the surface of the water and eventually sank under the waves.
The boundless seawater was drowning him. Jiang Chenglang thought, would this sea become his burial ground? Would his father be able to find his bloated corpse?
At this moment, a small hand pulled him up to the surface.
Jiang Chenglang could only vaguely make out that the other party was a girl.
Her figure was slender and she wasn’t very strong. As she dragged him along, a full-grown adult man, they sank several times. She used every bit of her strength to swim up to the surface.
Later, she grabbed onto a lifebuoy and swam toward the shore with all her might. Finally, she managed to drag him to the shore.
Jiang Chenglang had thought that there was no chance that he would be rescued today but he had not expected this girl to save him.
However, as they crossed the surface of the sea, he could only vaguely make out a scar on the girl’s waist. He did not realize when they had reached the shore, he had already passed out.
When he woke up, he was already lying on the bed in the hotel, with his father, stepmother, and the others sitting beside him.
Father Jiang despised him for almost drowning in the sea, which would have been very embarrassing. He ordered everyone not to spread the news and also forbade him from looking for his savior, as if the incident had never happened.
Although Jiang Chenglang had been obedient at that moment, later, he secretly looked for the girl but he had searched for many years and had found nothing.
He did not expect to see this familiar scar on Jiang Wan’s body today…
Why had she never told him about it…
He had never told anyone about the scar on the girl’s waist except for Rong Qi. Was what happened today really a coincidence?
Jiang Chenglang pinched the space between his eyebrows and walked out of the ward with Rong Qi.
When they reached the stairwell, he took out a cigarette case and pulled out a cigarette. Just as he was about to light it, he suddenly remembered that the hospital was a non-smoking area, so he folded the cigarette and threw it into the trash can.
Jiang Chenglang wiped his hands on his pants to get the smell of the cigarette off his hand. He asked, “Who else knows that I asked you to look for that girl?”
Rong Qi replied, “Director Jiang, I did as you asked. I didn’t tell anyone.”
Jiang Chenglang pursed his lips. “When you go looking for someone, you will always leave some clues behind… Forget it, I got it. Let’s head back.”
By the time he returned to the ward, Jiang Wan had already woken up.
Her face was as white as the blanket on the hospital bed. She called out hoarsely, “Big Brother.”
Jiang Chenglang sat beside her bed. “Are you feeling better now?”
Jiang Wan said softly, “I’m much better now. I made Big Brother worry.”
Jiang Chenglang looked at her IV drip. “Rong Qi, go get the nurse to change the drip.”
After Rong Qi left, Jiang Wan looked at the side of Jiang Chenglang’s face and suddenly smiled.
“Big Brother, can I take it that you’re concerned about me?”
Jiang Chenglang did not look at her.
He lowered his head and looked at the time. After Rong Qi had got the nurse to change the drip, Jiang Chenglang said, “Rest well. I’ll get Rong Qi to stay with you. I’ll be off first.”

Jiang Wan was stunned. “Big Brother… Are you not going to stay with me?”
Jiang Chenglang said simply, “There’s nowhere convenient for me to sleep here.”
He stood up and slowed down Jiang Wan’s drip before instructing Rong Qi, “Take good care of her. Remember to order breakfast for her tomorrow. You can come into the office later.”
Rong Qi promised, “Don’t worry, Director Jiang.”
“It will just be for one night. Thank you for your hard work. I’ll get someone to replace you tomorrow morning.”
After saying that, Jiang Chenglang straightened his clothes and left.
Jiang Wan watched as Jiang Chenglang walked out. She heard the sound of the door closing.
She was shocked but she didn’t show it on her face.
This was a VIP ward. There was an adjoining room for those who wanted to stay the night.
Rong Qi and Jiang Wan were men and women after all. He would not sleep in the same room as her even if there was another bed in this ward.
Rong Qi waited for the IV drip to finish before pulling out the needle and dimming the light in the room for her.
“Miss Jiang, I’ll be sleeping in the next room. Call me if you need anything.”
Jiang Wan pulled up the blanket and nodded. She said gratefully, “Thank you, Brother Rong.”
When Rong Qi had left and the doors to the inner and outer rooms were closed, Jiang Wan did not hear any more sound. She pulled down the blanket and gnawed her lip.
Why? Why was it not like how she had imagined it?
Just now, she clearly felt that Jiang Chenglang’s attitude toward her had improved. It’s just that the change had been miniscule. He was still unwilling to stay and accompany her.
In the past, if she was hospitalized, he would definitely accompany her personally. He would not even go to the office the next day.
It could be said that Jiang Chenglang’s opinion of her had not completely changed, even though she had used such an identity…
Jiang Wan touched the mark on her waist and narrowed her eyes.
It seemed that she would have to take things slowly and not rush.
…
After school.
When Jiang Zeyu wanted to go out with Jiang Yu, he was stopped by Feng Tianrui.
Jiang Zeyu said warily, “You’re pulling me to play games with you again. Don’t tell me that you’re up to something?”
Feng Tianrui stammered, “I’m not up to anything…”
Jiang Zeyu looked at him suspiciously. “You’re trying to stop me. Why do I feel like I’ve seen this scene before…”
He suddenly came to a realization. “Is Old Bull here?”
Feng Tianrui: “Old Bull?”
“That Feng Linbai fellow!”
Feng Tianrui was silent. He touched his nose guiltily and didn’t say a word.
Jiang Zeyu immediately understood that he had guessed correctly. He was about to rush out when Feng Tianrui grabbed his collar.
Jiang Zeyu said angrily, “What? Do you want to fight again? I haven’t settled the score with you for what happened last time!”
Feng Tianrui didn’t release him.
Jiang Zeyu turned around. “What exactly did Old Bull give you that you would be willing to help him to this extend?”
Feng Tianrui: “A few million dollars worth of equipment? Does that count?”
Jiang Zeyu blurted out, “So generous?”
Feng Tianrui: “… and it wasn’t just me. He gave equipment to everyone on our team…”
