Chapter 1: A tragic ending

It was a normal day like any other in my meaningless life.

I woke up at 6:00 am due to the annoying noises the alarm clock was making.

"Beep"

"Beep"

"Beep"

"Ah, let me sleep a little more." I murmured in a half sleep half-awake state.

"Beep"

"Beep"

"Ahhh!" And with this roar I completely woke up and smashed my hand atop of the alarm clock to turn the damn thing off.

"Fuck! I exclaimed, because now my hand was aching a bit and I got even angrier, than what I already was.

After a few seconds of calming down, I pushed the blanket aside and got out of the bed.

I walked into my small bathroom, since my little three-room apartment had no room to spare.

I lived alone since my parents died early without leaving me any kind of inheritance and with my meagre income, I could only afford this small place.

I picked my toothbrush and started to brush my teeth and while I was at it, I looked into the mirror above the sink.

I saw the image of a slightly above average looking male with black hair of approximately 17 years old with a sleepy countenance. This was obviously me, because who else would I see in the mirror if not me?

After I finished brushing my teeth, I went back into my room and quickly put on my work uniform.

I looked at the clock hanging on my wall and it was already 6:10 am.

'Shit! I need to hurry, or else I will be too late for work again.' I directly thought after seeing the time.

I hurriedly ran out of my apartment, while almost forgetting to lock the door.

I needed to be present at work at 6:30 am, so I only had twenty minutes left to arrive there, but it would depend on luck if I would arrive on time.

To get to work, I had to take one bus from near my home and the rest of the way I had to run since there were no direct bus connections to my workplace.

I was lucky that I arrived at the bus station perfectly when the bus was just stopping there, so I easily got the bus.

It seems that I was lucky today, because there was almost no traffic and I arrived within a short time at my destination.

From there I just had to walk for a few minutes and then I was already standing in front of a McRonalds.

I looked at my cell phone and it was exactly 7:00 am, so I was luckily on time.

I pushed open the front door and quickly strode into the building, so that my boss could not find any fault with me if I were a minute too late, since that had already happened once.

When I walked into the building, I could only see two of my co-workers, but not my boss, which I was happy about, because I absolutely hated him.

One of my co-workers was a male and the other was a female.

The male was named kai, he looked really buff and you would think of him playing in the NFL instead of working as a cook in McRonalds and I was on pretty good terms with him.

The female one's name was Megan and she was also my crush.

She had a perfect figure, mesmerizing deep blue eyes and silky black hair.

Honestly, I don't know why she isn't working as a model with her looks and is instead working here in McRonalds.

I don't know what feelings she had for me since I had never confessed to her, but I had made up my mind to confess my feelings for her to her today after work.

Even though we had no romantic relationship yet, we were still on good terms with each other and also understood each other pretty good.

"Hi, good morning, guys!" I greeted the two of them when I saw them and they also greeted back:"Yo, good morning, Thiago!"

After we greeted each other, we didn't linger around any longer and went to the kitchen to prepare everything for the incoming customers.

The time flew by and it was now the end of the working day, I was walking out of the building with Megan and Kai, where we normally separated, because each one of us had a different home way.

But today it was different, because I asked: "Megan do you have a few seconds to spare?"

Kai, who seemed to know what was going to happen didn't linger around any longer and walked away, so that the two of them were alone.

I, who saw his actions, was touched. 'This is what good brothers should do' I silently thought.

Megan who heard my question, seemed to not think much and stayed behind to hear what I wanted to tell her.

When she was only a meter away from me, I started to speak: "Ahem. This might come over abruptly for you, but I have liked you for a long time now and would like to ask if you want to go drink a coffee or something else with me?"

She seemed a little stunned by my sudden question since she also had not anticipated such a kind of question, but she quickly composed herself and spoke: "Yes! I would like to."

"You said "Yes" just now?!" I asked her in disbelief, since I couldn't quite understand that such a beauty would agree to go out with me.

"Yes, I said yes. Hehe" She answered while slightly chuckling due to my unbelieving expression.

"Ahem, then would you like to go now or later?" I asked her.

"Let's go later. I need to get out of the work uniform and freshen up a little." She answered.

"Ah, yes that's a good idea. Then let's meet at 18 pm at the green hat Coffee shop, alright?" I asked.

"Yes, that's fine with me. Then till later." Megan agreed and then walked away into the opposite direction of where I need to go.

"Bye!" I also said before going on my way home.

I still couldn't quite grasp the fact, that Megan agreed to a date. It was so unbelievable to me and I couldn't be happier right now.

Unfortunately, my happiness wouldn't last long that day.

After arriving home, I searched out the best clothes I had in my rather limited arsenal.

I decided on a slightly old but still good-looking jeans and a clean white polo shirt.

I looked in the mirror and found that it was a relatively good fit.

When it was finally the time for the date, I took the bus and arrived a few minutes foot marsh away from the café.

The sidewalk was full of passer ways at this time of the day and when I had almost reached the café, I saw Megan coming from the opposite direction and I winked at her through the crowd. When she saw someone wink at her, she looked who the person was and when she noticed that it was me, she increased her pace until she had almost reached me.

But suddenly some people started screaming: "Hold the thief!"

"Ahh! He has a knife!"

After hearing these screams, I looked in the crowd and suddenly saw a person running in the direction of Megan.

I directly Exclaimed. "Megan watch out, behind you!"

But because of the commotion and people screaming everywhere, she seemed to not hear me.

I quickly acted without thinking further about the consequences of my actions and started running in the direction of Megan.

She seemed surprised by my actions since she hadn't noticed the Armed man that was running in her direction from behind her.

I reached her almost at the same moment as the thief, and the moment when he tried to ram his knife into her slender body, I jumped forward and pushed her out of the way.

When I reached the floor, I only felt an intense piercing pain in my chest.

People started panicking and crying for help.

"Ahh! Someone was stabbed!"

"Call the ambulance!"

"We need help!!"

My only thoughts at the moment were full of anger and helplessness. I just couldn't understand why a random thief would try to murder Megan.

'There was just no reason to kill her, he could have just escaped instead.

Ahhh! Sometimes I really hate humans! Why do we kill each other without reasons?!' I thought.

Suddenly a I saw a stunningly beautiful face appear in front of my vision so I weakly asked: "Are you an angel?"

"No, it's me, Megan! Stay with me, Thiago!" Megan answered.

"Hehe, so it's you Megan. I mixed you up with an angel, haha!" I spoke while coughing up mouthfuls of blood.

"Don't talk anymore. Help will be here soon." Megan tried to console me, but honestly at this point I didn't think that I could survive this fatal wound.

I already felt that I was becoming weaker each second.

I decided to say one last thing to her:" cough, cough, even if I die, I will try everything to see you again somehow, if there is an afterlife.

The last thing I want to say is, that I don't know how you feel about me, but I love you. Cough"

"No, you will not die! Hold on!

No!!"

After I ended my sentence, I lost all my senses and everything became black.
