A few days have passed since Adui got the idea of solving the cube from bottom to top, and it was a hit, at least for the time being. He was able to solve two layers and one of the faces of the cube, with some serious elbow grease, now only the third layer is left, if he solves that, the cube would be solved, but for now he was stuck at that layer. Considering that he was able to solve 80% of the cube was still a major breakthrough for him.
While working on the cube, he was simultaneously working on himself as well, he had been cultivating because of which he had broken into the realm of a Rank-5 Mage, and his breakthrough happened very easily as well, all thanks to the mana stones he got from Ulaspas family.
Working on every key aspect of his life had been very time-consuming, but it is fairly easy considering the other important stuff that he had to do. He was moving to the capital, so he had a lot of stuff to pack, till now he couldn't find any capable people who would be able to bring his stuff to the capital city, hell, he didn't have a home in the capital city as well. He had to lot on his plate right now.
In between his hectic life, he also searched for someone who could recognize the text from the letter, considering that he got that from the cube, he figured it must be important, but he had no luck in finding anyone.
He was not sure what language this was, at first he thought it was the old language, used before the Gorgon kingdom was established, but after looking at it for several days, he was not sure. The script used in the letter is the same as the old language, but he had read that there are many languages in the world that use the same script, so he was not sure.
Jarad knows how to read the old language, he thought about contacting him, but the face angry Clair appeared before his eyes, so he squashed that idea. The good thing was that he will be moving to the capital city, chances are that he would be able to find someone there who speaks that language, maybe they would teach him as well…
That morning Adui woke up after taking a very long nap, he was energized and motivated, turns out that unemployment is a great stress buster, especially when you are as loaded as him. He made himself a nice cup of tea and cooked a good piece of steak. He was skinny as fuck, many people have reminded him that, he figured why not make some life changes while he was at it.
He was trying to bulk up, didn't want to look skinny anymore, also, what is a better way to start the day than with a delicious and juicy steak? He cooked it slowly, making sure that every side had that crispy crust, every inch and every corner of it is cooked evenly and soon his marvelous creation was ready.
He sat down to eat the thing, but before that, he couldn't help but admire it. In the past, he didn't have the time to admire food, he was always too busy with the shop, but now as he was his own boss, he had all the time in the world. He picked up the fork and his knife, as soon as the knife made contact with the meat, like through the butter, it just melted away. The steak started squirting delicious juice from the freshly cut piece. He picked it up with his fork, but before he could savor the taste of the steak…
KNOCK KNOCK
“Argh..” The groan was filled with pain, he didn't like to be disturbed while he was having a meal.
KNOCK KNOCK
He got up relentlessly and went to the door, while going, he did to forget to bring his walking stick with him. Many people noticed that he was not using a walking stick anymore, which made him worried. soon people would try to ask him about his recovery, he didn't know whether he could answer truthfully or not. So he figured that it was better to fake it than to lie to a bunch of people.
As he opened the door, he greeted two individuals, they were wearing silver color armor, bearing the mark of the City Watch on their chest. He was not expecting City Watch to come and knock on his door.
“Are you Adui Hampshire?” One of them spoke.
“Indeed I am. How may I help you folks this morning?”
“We need you to come with us to the City Watch’s tower.” The other one spoke.
He did not expect that answer. Usually, soldiers of the City Watch take criminals to the tower, either to execute or imprison them, he on the other hand was not a criminal. He was a little confused. “City Watch’s tower? Why?”
“We are told you bring you there.”
Someone told these men to fetch me? Why? And most importantly who wants to fetch me? He figured it was better to ask these guys. “That is not the answer I was looking for, but now that you have said it, who sent you to fetch me?”
One of the men groaned, he looked at him as if seeing a fool. With arrogance in his voice, he spoke. “Why don't you come with us and see it for yourself?”
Adui didn't like the tone of that man, he was a mana wielder, and he lives in a pretty decent neighborhood, so what gives this man the right to act arrogantly in front of him? He gave the man one more chance to explain himself. “Excuse me?”
The other one answered. “Look, we don't have time. Either you come with us quietly or otherwise, we would have to force our hands.” Then both of them put their hands on their sword, threatening him.
Adui was surprised by their statement, these men were ordered to bring him to the tower either by hook or by crook, meaning someone really wanted him there, the problem was that he couldn't think of one single thing that made him deserve such a treatment.
Seeing their arrogant attitude towards him, made his blood boil in anger, mana wielder no matter small or big are treated with respect everywhere they go, but these fools in front of him acted as though they are his boss.
He put up a big smile on his face, it was time to teach these guys a lesson. “Alright then. Let's see, what you have to offer.”
“What?”
“I am sorry. Maybe I wasn't clear enough… You put your hand on your sword, I take it that you were threatening me. So I want to see whether power to threaten me, if you don't, then you won't be able to persuade me to follow you” One of them took a hint at what he was implying, but the other one did not.
The other one grabbed Adui’s collar. “Listen pal..” Before he could mutter another word, Adui took action. GUST.
A strong current of wind originated from his hand, hitting the soldier square on his vest, the wind was harmless, but it was so concentrated that it made the soldier fly back a few feet. The whole street around Adui’s came to a stop, none of these people had seen someone send a soldier of City Watch flying before.
Adui turned to the one, still standing in his doorway. “Now what about you?” That one was too stunned to speak, he didn't what to say. He put his hand on his sword, but stop whatever he was trying to do when he saw Adui shaking his head. “Do that, and you will end up like him.”
The man stopped. He gulped some saliva and started sweating, he then remembered what Adui had asked before. “Lord Rodiger has commanded us to bring you there, by any means possible.” He quickly added.
Adui was very surprised to hear that name. “Rodiger eh? Let's go then.”
***
Sitting in the shitiest carriage that the City Watch had to offer, Adui stared at the soldiers sitting in front of him, making them both uncomfortable. Both of them were commoners and had been quite wary of him since he had showcased his power. Making them uncomfortable was very amusing to him, but on the back of his head he couldn't help but be concerned about his visit to City Watch’s tower, more than that he was more concerned about Rodiger, a Rank-6 warrior, as well as the Commander of the City Watch.

He never liked that guy, he was an arrogant piece of shit who thought everyone owns him because he is the commander of City Watch. Adui never saw it that way, he didn't respect him nor treated him differently because of his position. When the guy saw that, he tried to make things difficult for him, he started creating problems for the shop, but his plan ultimately backfired when Gizelle got involved, he almost lost his job, the reason being he messed up with the wrong alchemist.
After their scuffle he thought, Rodiger would never create problems for him again, but it seems he was wrong…
After getting to the tower, he was escorted to a dimly lit room with no windows, the only way to access the room was a door from which he came in. There was a table and some chairs in the room, nothing else. From the faint fingernail scratches on the table, the smell of blood and urine in the air, he understood, this was a fucking torture chamber. But he was not afraid, not anymore.
After waiting for 5 mins, the door swung open and three people walked in, every one of them was more peculiar than one another.
One of them was heavily injured, his face was covered with bandages, there were only slits on his face, for the eyes, the rest was his face was covered in bandages. The rest of his body was not in good shape either, beneath his long coat he saw that most of his body was covered in bandages.
The other one looked like a beggar, he was wearing dirty clothes that hadn't been washed in ages, his clothes were riddled with a lot of holes and tears, and he smelled like a sewer rat.
The last guy was a bearded fellow with beautiful lilac eyes, he was dressed more decently than the other two, but still, his clothes were nothing fancy, he might be a commoner. But based on his physique he looked more like a warrior than a common man.
The bearded fellow moved his hands forward, trying to shake his hand with him“You must be Adui, it is a pleasure to meet you.”
“Ah… And you are?”
The bearded man chuckled. “Oh! My bad, my name is Rupert. This beggar-looking fellow is Jojo and you already know Rodiger.” Adui looked at the bandaged fellow once again. “Rodiger? What the hell happened to you?”
“Fy fon’t fu fask fuor fue fend?” Adui didn't understand the word that he said, Jojo, the beggar, helped him. “He said, why don't you ask your new friend?”
He couldn't understand the word he just said, for a moment he thought that he might be mute and was just making noises from his mouth. “You understand him?”
“You will also get used to it if you spend enough time with him,” Jojo said nonchalantly.
Adui looked at the peculiar group of men in front of him once again, these guys didn't look aren’t anyone from the City Watch, that was for sure. “I am sorry, can anyone tell me what the hell is going on here? What the hell is up with Rodiger, who the hell beat him up like that? And who are you two? Jojo? Really is that your real name?”
The beggar was offended by his remark, “Really you want to talk about weird names, AdUi?”
Before the situation could escalate any further, Rupert chimed in. “Well, gentlemen, let's not fight now. We have some work to do.” He then continued. “As he said before, we are here to talk about your friend that beat him up like that”
Adui looked at the bearded fellow. “I have a friend who could beat a Rank-6 veteran warrior like that? Nah, I don't think so.”
“We will see about that,” Rupert said.
“I am sorry, but who the hell are you two? I know him, and based on your getup, I know that you are not men of City Watch, so the hell are you guys?”
“Who we are is not important. But I guess you would know what this means” then Ruper showed him a badge, the badge had the symbol of a monster with one big eye, a Gorgon. Adui recognized the badge, it belonged to the knight's order of Gorgon Kingdom’s Royal Army.
Seeing the badge made him more confused. “Well, now I am also curious about this friend of mine, whose actions had made me stand in front of the Royal Knight’s order,”
Jojo gestured towards the chair beside them. “So let's start.” Every one of them sat down, Adui sat on one side, the rest of them on the other.
“Mr. Hampshire, what can you tell me about the knight name Andreas?” Jojo asked. Adui was confused as he heard the name, he didn't know anyone with that name.
“Who?”
“Font fyi fu fufer, fu foh fim” Rodiger suddenly said while standing up. He was startled by the sudden outburst, he looked at Jojo. “He said, don't lie you fucker. And I think for the second sentence he said ‘you fuck him’”
“I fuck him?” Adui was still confused.
Rodiger shook his head “Fother fufer, fyi fidnt fay fhat. Fyi fad, fu foh fim”
“He said, ‘mother fucker I didn't say that, I said, you know him’.” Jojo’s eyes widened as he understood what Rodigier wanted to say. “Oh, my bad”
“Alright, can anyone give me the description of the person, that you want to talk about? And no offense, please say something that I can make sense of.” Adui pleaded while gesturing towards Rodiger.
“Let me help you jog your memory Mr. Hampshire,” Rupert said, then he continued. “Andreas is the name of the knight in brown armor that guards the manor of Gizelle Salvatore, your former employer.”
“That thing beat him up?” Adui asked
“Yeah. That is why we are here to talk to you?”
