The sounds of glass crackling under someone's feet could be heard. The Reaper and Lian face the ghoulish man hobbling over in front of them, they were confused watching it stumble one foot at a time.
White-face, sunken cheeks, clothing in tatters, no shoes. The man's hair and glasses were disheveled as his hands stood in the air. His fingers curled trembling, his mouth was slightly agape.
"Mr. Will…" Lian's mother gasped.
"Ahhhh!" He cried.
Agony crawled from his flaking dry lips as he collapsed in a heap on the floor stiff as a board. Lian only looked at the Reaper puzzled at the whole incident.
"The embalmer's son had been kept a secret for a very long time…"
Another voice echoed through the rubble of the apartment. A hand with fingers full of chunky dense rings knocked the Reapers coffin to the side making his way into the room.
"Lian, I knew your father and I will also get to know you." He smiled.
His skin looked waxy and light blue, his eyes were completely black. Everything he wore was dark except a golden-aged stag with many points hung chained around his neck under the collar of his long shirt.
He swung a golden cane in his hands. The Reaper stuck his spindly arms around the charcoal-haired boy frowning at the man.
"You really think I couldn't smell the magic coming off that decrepit old thing?"
"Go back home, I have already claimed him out of his father's wishes!" Reaper argued.
"But I have more to offer."
Bringing his left hand out a small blue fire raged in his hands before being extinguished with the mere clasp of his fingers becoming a fist.
"Parlor tricks…that is all you are!" He huffed.
The weapon vibrated in Lian's hands once again. Lian was shocked as it began to chip away more in his fingers. He felt bad for the withering blade.
"If you let me die then you will be free…" The Scythe whispered.
"But I can feel your pain." He replied.
His muscles ached faintly from her pain was all he needed to know that she was a living tool and needed to be cared for once again. He stroked the cold metal of the blade gently, he thought he could feel it reacting more.
"You given him the blade I see, Lian was it?" He asked.
Lian held tight to his scythe before looking away. The man strolled forward with his hands out at the child showing off his pearly whites.
"She is sick, but I can heal her."
"No!" Lian shouted.
The Reaper thrust Lian back pulling out a large moon sickle. It seemed to giggle in his hands, he shot out with the first move only to swiftly evade.
"I don't even have my weapon out yet."
A long serrated sword he pulled out from what looked like a tiny scabbard hung from his belt loop. Cackling it had a mind of its own as it lashed out biting into the Reaper's flesh as its jagged teeth sunk into his arm.
The Reaper jumped back on his feet steadily. He decided to keep guard as he raised the sickle in front of his face.
"A harvester, you are too plain for me." He yawned.

He whipped his sword out giving a small chant. Reaper propelled himself at the lustrous-looking man releasing a spell.
"Nocturnal howl!" The Reaper shouted.
Blackened shadowy hands slithered from behind the Reaper as they hit the tiles of the floor mindlessly darted at the blue man turning. The coiled fingers became sharp knives ricocheting off the walls and impaling the man dressed in black.
A sharply drawn breath of air could be heard expelling from the man's lungs. He coughed up blood before bowing over and falling to his knees. Lian became animated and excited as he jumped in the air.
"He isn't dead…" The Reaper whispered.
Hesitant to pull the arm out, he inched in close to get a look at why he refused to move at all. Lian's weapon throbbed more this time as though it had a heartbeat.
"Give me a name if you plan to give me life!" She shook.
Lian hadn't thought of a name for his weapon. He didn't realize they needed a name at all to be certain of anything at all.
"What do I name you?" He asked.
"Mr. Tremain!"
A voice cried out, Lian's mother was suddenly in front of him with her arms outstretched. A large azure hand wrung around her neck, fingernails deep into her skin.
"Don't move!" He shrieked.
"Mommy!" Lian's sister wailed.
"You knew it was forbidden to say my name yet you did…" He grinned.
"You think my husband would leave a silly old widow helpless Mr. Tremain?" She scoffed.
His eyes lit up as the Reaper retracted his ghostly hands. She sputtered out blood using her strength to hang onto his enlarged arms and hands.
"Mrs. Embalmers' wife…"
"Take my children and run!" She shouted.
A sigil of white light burst out of her other hand aiming at the man's face. Reaper took the small child and Lian wanted to assist his mother he got behind her only to be yanked by Reaper.
"I can't leave my mother!" He argued.
"There won't be anything left of her with that spell!" He spouted.
"Lian, you can't be with me forever…take care of your sister."
Her bottom lip quivered, and she turned her attention back to Mr. Tremain. Reaper had to drag Lian out of the room to the outside kicking and screaming, a panic tantrum for his Mom's well-being till it went.
Click. Lian beat his fists into the man's chest. Lian and his little sister openly wept, Reaper bent down to wrap his arms around both of the children. He blinded them with his fingers cloaking their view.
"Lian…little one…" He said softly.
They hushed his words. Things became silent around them, they could feel the room twist and twirl at a dizzying speed.
"For a moment think of nothing please."
