Chapter Two

“Well, I don’t mind if you come here, but do you wonder what your father thinks about his daughter going to some weird alchemists’ room every week?” Lacy said while sitting down on the bed, twirling her long black hair.

“Him?” the Princess’s voice suddenly let out an agitated and angry tone, one which was unbecoming of such an exotic flower.

“I don’t care about what he thinks, he’s the one locking me up in this palace. It’s so boring, I can’t do anything! The only person who I can talk to freely is you big sis.” Elsie said while clinging onto Lacy who was too tired to pull her off.

“Well I appreciate you taking your precious time to visit me Princess. However, I still have work to do, so can you come back tomorrow? I’m free then.” While saying so, Lacy got up trying her best to pry the little girl who thought of her as a big sister off.

“Fine, ill come back tomorrow, but you better talk to me for longer! That’s an order from the Princess.”

“Yes, yes as you command princess, now hurry and scoot along,” Lacy said while pushing Elsie out of her room and shutting the door on her.

Was this lowly alchemist acting a bit too preposterous in front of the princess? Well, yes. However, the Princess allowed it.

You could say that Lacy cared for Elsie very much, as she was brave enough to place herself In such a position, knowing that she could be “erased” at any time.

That was a worry that all of the palace staff, and guests for that matter had to worry about while living in such an unforgiving place.

And for that, one could say, although lonely and confined to the palace, the Princess was the most unrestricted person in the entirety of the underworld, not having to worry about anything.

“Mhm I wonder what I should go do now, I usually just go into my room and read, but it gets boring when you do it every day, Mhm maybe I should go tend to the garden?” pondering for quite a while, she made up her mind.

“Alright, I’ll go water the plants, maybe I’ll see something interesting.” As she strolled through the enormous palace, her destination came into sight.

But who would’ve thought, that the decision to tend to her flowers, would change her life forever?

While Elsie grabbed a bucket of water from the fountain, she carried the heavy thing all through her garden, tending to the unique and exotic flowers that she had grown throughout the years.

“Ah, what a lovely sight…” she exclaimed while looking at the healthy nature of each of her bizarrely intriguing plants. Some with weird dots going from the stem to the petals, some which twirled and entangled with each other, and some which looked harmless, while others looked deadly.

Truly a flower garden fit for the Princess of Hell, if one could picture the scene before them, they would say, peculiarly outlandish with a tint of innocence. Something so unique, that it could only be found in the garden of the devil’s palace.

While watering the last of the plants, Elsie decided to stay a bit longer. Was there a reason for this? Well, she felt that she would miss an amazing opportunity if she left. Strolling through her massive garden she started admiring all the hard work that had been put into it singlehandedly.

While she waited and waited, nothing happened. Elsie started to feel disheartened.

Lazily lying on the ground twirling her scarlet smooth hair around her finger, she sighed and got up.

“Guess il go get lunch then, I’ll try to come back later today…” as she said that, she went in the direction of the exit of the garden.

You may be asking, with the thousands of palace staff working and living in the palace, why was nobody beside Elsie taking care of the garden? Well, that was a special request she had asked the staff. Although it seemed like an unreasonable request to let the little princess do all that work herself, they couldn’t say anything against it, for fear of being a step out of line.

And for that reason, nobody besides the princess witnessed what happened next…

While closing in on the exit, Elsie heard a groan coming from behind her far in the back of the garden.

“Didn’t I ask the staff to stay away from the garden? What are they up to? Jeez.” she let out a puff.

Turning back around and walking closer and closer to the direction of the sound (getting ready to scold whoever was inside her safe-heaven) Elsie was shocked when she turned the corner to see someone on the floor, bleeding from the stomach.

for a moment, there was complete silence, all that could be heard was the sound of blood dripping on the ground, staining it dark red.

“What? Hey, are you okay? Hello? Who are you? Why are you here? How did you get that wound?”

The princess, who was now in a state of shock blurted out all of these questions, yet there was no response.

“Uhm, stay here ill go get help.” As she began to run for some of the palace staff, she shrieked as her ankle was suddenly grabbed.

With shock, she looked behind her to see the sixteen-year-old boy grabbing her ankle, it looked like he was pleading with her not to bring any of the palace staff, or any more unwanted attention.

Why didn’t we want help, was he in some sort of trouble?

The Princess asked herself this while wondering what kind of maniac he was for committing a crime in the palace. However one thing made her question if he had really done something so horrendous to receive such a wound. He clearly didn't look like a bad person.

“Well I can’t leave you here, let me quickly bandage you up and bring you to my room.” As she was ripping off a part of her skirt, she wrapped it around the boy’s stomach. Somewhat bringing the overflow of blood gushing out to a halt.

“Mhm, what is it?”

Elsie noticed that the boy was trying to say something, however before she could realize what he was saying, he suddenly passed out.

“Ehhhhh, What do I do? He’s clearly in trouble, however, I can’t just leave him to die here, alright ill bring him to my room.” After nodding to herself she tried for a while before hoisting the boy on her shoulders and dragging him to the exit.

“Oh, wait I forgot. How am I going to get him to my room!? It’s always closely guarded...” her mood suddenly sank.

However after thinking for a while. Elsie's mind clicked.

“That’s right, I’ll bring her to big sis. Nobody usually patrols around there, it should be the safest place! Alright, let’s get going.” As she said that she let out a heave-ho and carried the heavy boy over her shoulders and walked towards Lacy’s workshop.

“Now that I mention it, he’s pretty good looking, what race is he from?” the princess let out a bashful remark before blushing and shaking her head “No, no, no, let’s not think about that right now.” and she continued to the workshop.

However her remarks were very true, this boy who looked around sixteen (the same age as the princess) had short black hair, with blue eyes. He was just slightly taller than Elsie and wore, well-fashioned clothes, however, they looked different from the casual clothes most people around this area wore, where were they from? the east?

While thinking all of this, Elsie reached the same rusty-looking door. And as before and entered without knocking…
