After the uncomfortable breakfast, Lucille and Noah went back to their villa and agreed to meet down at the beach after an hour to go to the North side of the resort where most of the water activities are happening.
Jess doesn't really want to join Noah and his daughter after last night and what happened this morning, however, she can't say no to Lucille's invitation.
She slumped on the sofa, right after Noah and Lucille stepped out of their door.
"Luke --" she whined.
"What?" he widened his eyes on him with his arms in akimbo, "Did Noah come here last night?"
She let out a sigh and cradled the throw pillow with a tassel on her lap. She gripped the throw pillow in frustration. "Yes, he came over last night."
"And what happened to your hand? I was about to ask you about that, but watching Noah's reaction was so entertaining that I forgot to ask," he said, giggling.
"I hurt my hand with a broken wine glass," she pouted. 'Come to think of it, this is not the first time I hurt my hand with Noah around.'
"You should go easy on wine whenever you are pissed off. You sometimes forget to limit yourself," he reprimanded her gently because just like her, he has the tendency to drink more than his limit when he is having too much fun.
She leaned sideways and dropped herself on the sofa with the throw pillow between her legs. "Luke, I don't want to go."
"You should have told Lucille that." He clicked his tongue on her whining, "Get up there and get ready. And please, don't wear Noah's shirt if you don't want the young miss to throw a tantrum," he scoffed, laughing with the image of Lucille's confusion when she recognized her daddy's shirt on Jess.
She jerked up from the sofa, the throw pillow was still in between her legs, "Lucille knew it was Noah's shirt?" she asked in a hushed tone.
"I'm not sure but it seems so."
"Ughhhh…." she dropped herself back to the sofa, "Leave me here to die, please."
"I can't. I don't want to answer about your death." He picked up another throw pillow and hit her on the head with it, "Get up now! Let's just play with the young miss to make her vacation a happy one."
"You like Lucille more than you like me," she sulked.
"Stop with your nonsense, Jessica Joy," he rolled his eyes as he flicked his wrist in the air, "How could you compare to the kid? She is so adorable, you have no chance of winning."
"Jerk!" she threw the throw pillow between her legs to Luke who was laughing back to his room.
"That includes Noah, you know. You have no way of winning."
"Are you insane? Why would I compete with a child?"
"Nothing. Just saying."
She pursed her lips and scoffed by herself. The idea that Lucille recognized the shirt she wore as her daddy's shirt was just too embarrassing. But she can no longer do something about it. The kid already saw her wearing it.
And Luke was probably just bullshiting her about Lucille throwing a tantrum. She was still so sweet with her during breakfast.
She got up from the sofa, ambled to her bedroom to get ready for another tube thingy thing fun!
She couldn't believe Luke has been teaching Lucille strange words, such as a tube thingy thing.
She chuckled at the memory of them doing it yesterday with Noah, pretending so hard to act scared to make his daughter change her mind but Lucille has an adventurous spirit and is quite stubborn. A deadly combination.
She insisted on doing the tube thingy thing, and Noah had no choice but to honor his word and they all ended up doing it together with Soraya and Jin.
It was fun but it was supposed to be a one-time thing. She wondered what Lucille did to convince her father to do it again today.
She picked a one-piece black swimsuit connecting the top and button with a crisscrossed piece of cloth across the stomach area. It's the safest swimsuit she has for such water activity. The cut of the bikini was a bit too risky so she put on shorts.
She splattered a generous amount of sunscreen all over her exposed skin and grabbed her beach straw tote bag. Luke was already waiting for her in the living room when she stepped out of her room.
They were about to go out when they heard knocking on the door and Lucille's voice shouting, "Uncle Luke! Let's go!"
"That kid was too attached to you," she smiled, shaking her head in amusement.
"Why, Little Miss Jessie, are you jealous?" he wiggled his eyebrows playfully at her.
"Shut up!" she laughed.
They were still both laughing when Luke opened the door, and Lucille pulled his hand, "Let's go, Uncle Luke!"
"Lucille," he gently called his daughter's name but she just glanced at him and stuck out her tongue, giggling.
"She got Luke under her thumb," she casually commented as she closed their front door.
"I don't like that my girls were being taken under my nose," he said in clenched teeth.
His eyes and the tone of his voice were so serious that she doesn't know if she should laugh or not. How could he think of Luke taking his girls -- wait, his girls, with an 's'? Does it include her?
She swallowed a smile that was about to escape her lips and pretended to not understand what Noah had said.
She went ahead of Noah and followed Lucille and Luke who were walking hand in hand as the little girl skittered and kept asking Luke non-stop questions.
They were followed closely behind by Soraya and Jin.
She thought Noah would let go of the topic when she ignored him the first time but she was wrong.
"Do you usually sleep with Luke?"
She raised her eyebrows to his tone. She dislikes having her actions questioned. "Listen, Noah," she turned too fast to face him that she failed to see the small stone that tripped her up and made her twist her ankle.
Noah was near her, that he caught the small of her back easily, and pulled her closer to his chest.
She yelped in surprise that made Jin and Soraya stop on their track to check on them. Luke and Lucille did the same, however, when Luke saw Noah hugging Jess, he urged Lucille to continue walking pointing the inflatable tow tube in the distance.
"Hey, look! There are more people today!" his voice was loud enough to startle Noah and Jess who were staring at each other, baring their teeth like dogs ready to attack.
Jess pushed Noah away and huffed in annoyance. Her nostril was flaring with all the words that she wanted to spout at Noah but she bit her tongue for they were not alone. Instead, she walked faster, leaving him behind. She felt a small amount of pain in her ankle but ignored it.
Seeing Jess' angry stance as she walked away from him, he blew an air of frustration. He couldn't hold back his jealousy after finding out that Jess slept in Luke's bed. He knew he was being a jerk, but -- he kicked the innocent stone on the sand in his anger.
He shoved his hands deep in his shorts pocket. He couldn't understand how he turned into a stupid teenager, that couldn't think rationally when it comes to Jessica.
He doesn't really think that Luke is stealing his daughter away. He was actually very grateful that the guy took the time to attend to his daughter and give her attention when it wasn't his obligation.
His mouth had to spew nonsense since he was pissed off that Jess had slept with another man, other than him. He doesn't care that they are friends. If it wasn't him, he'd be pissed.
When he reached the registration area, Luke and Lucille were already discussing what color of the inflatable tow tube they wanted.
While Soraya handled the registration of their names and paying the fees.
He tried to step closer to Jess who had her arms across her chest as she stared in the distance, however, when she felt him standing close she stepped away.
He hurled an icy death glare at Jin, who laughed behind him.
"Daddy, since you are scared, you can just watch us with uncle Jin," his daughter, declared rather loudly in the crowd that made people around them throw him a strange look.
Jessica snorted with laughter when she heard what Lucille said.
"Little Miss Jessie, Soraya, Uncle Luke and I will go. You and Uncle Luke can just stay there at the sun lounger and watch us."
She glanced at Noah, who was attentively listening to his daughter's instructions, even nodding as she spoke. A smile tugged the corner of her lips at how cute the father and daughter looked.
She would never think that the heartwarming scene would end up in a disaster.
