"Is it okay for us to enter there?" Oliver leaned forward to the driver's seat, watching the entrance to the building with a guarded entrance, where they do a security check as if they were entering an airport.
"Did you ask Noah for us to get in?" Luke's question made Jess roll her eyes.
"Why would I ask Noah for this thing? I called HR and told them that we are interns and we hoped to see the premise for an ocular visit before starting our internship. And they emailed me a form to fill in and I have been given a visitor pass."
Due to their disagreement about how to deal with people who like to make up stories about her, the drive to ANAT Pharma and Co was strained. And now, Luke has already jumped to the conclusion that she used the fact that she and Noah had a personal relationship to be given special treatment.
Her already sullen mood just gets worse. Today is really a terrible one for her. Ellise started it with her stupid idea of putting a tail on her, then that bitchy Alice, and then Luke joined in with all his nagging.
"Sorry," Luke said with sincerity. He realized how bad it sounds when he asked Jess a question about asking a favor from Noah.
He knew Jess was not the type to get special favor especially from a guy that openly expressed his personal motives towards her. But he was being tackless.
"Sorry. My bad," he asked for an apology again, seeing that Jess didn't reply to his first apology.
"Forget about it," she said in a small voice. While there was only one car in front of them, she pulled out a filled-out form from her purse.
When it was their turn to get the car checked, she opened her window halfway on the driver's side and handed the form to the security guard before he could ask any questions.
The security guard scanned the paper she handed in, and asked, "What is the nature of your visit?"
If this is not the company where she will be working, Jess with her sour mood would answer the security guard sarcastically, since the form she just gave them man clearly indicates the reason why they were visiting.
But she has to maintain professionalism, instead of answering the man sarcastically as she wanted to, she smiled, "We requested an ocular visit to see the place where we will be working."
The man didn't answer and continued to scan the piece of paper she gave, but he cocked his head in the direction of the other security guard who promptly acted with his gesture and did a security sweep of the underside of their car using the under vehicle search mirror.
When the other security personnel was done with the vehicle inspection, the security guard who had her visitor pass form finally looked up at her.
"Would you mind opening your trunk?" he said with a smile, handing her back the form.
"Okay," she said as she took the form, she pushed a button on the side door of the driver's seat that opened the trunk.
The man cocked his head again to the other security guard who went to check her trunk. Her trunk was empty because the boxes of stuff that she took from the laboratory were on the floor of the backseat.
The security guard who checked the trunk of the SUV quickly closed it and gave the side of her car a loud tap.
"We good to go?" she asked the security guard standing outside her car window.
"Yes. Pick up your visitor pass ID at the lobby." he waved his hand gesturing to them to go forward as he scanned the car behind them.
She rolled up her window as she drove forward, "Well, that's strict protocol there. I wonder if we have to go through that every time we come in for work."
"I hope not," Oliver replied.
"I don't know what the security protocol is for employees who do not have a car." Luke tilted his head in somber thought, "I hope they would frisk everyone. It would be nice to get a pat-down every morning from those fine-looking security guards," he said, peering into the side mirror.
Oliver snorted from the backseat that made Jess laugh despite being annoyed with Luke.
He does have a way of making things fun with his random thirsty comments.
"Especially that one who was stoic and cold, wearing glasses." he bit his bottom lip. "He is so fine."
"You do have a fetish over guys with glasses?" she asked, chuckling.
"Oh yes. There's something about those men that I like. They made me feel like I deserve to get a proper scolding."
Jess and Luke were startled when Oliver laughed out loud from the backseat of the car.
Luke shifted his body to look at Oliver who was laughing in amusement. "Dude, you are wearing glasses. Stop laughing. I might get the wrong idea." he told him in a serious tone but his eyes were dancing in mischief.
"Am I your type?" he asked Luke, surprised.
"If I tell you, yes. What would you make of it?" he asked with an arched eyebrow.
Oliver cleared his throat and met Luke's eyes, "I'll be flattered."
"Stop flirting, you two. You are making my ears bleed." she butted in with their conversation as she pulled the car off the ignition.
"Oliver, you know I'm gay, right?" Luke asked in a serious tone. Gone was the playfulness in his eyes.
Oliver furrowed his eyebrows at Luke, "Well, yeah. You just said you like men. I would assume that yes, you are gay. Is there a problem?" his eyes moved from Luke's face to Jess as if asking if he did something wrong.
Jess was busy shoving random stuff into her purse, not minding them at all.
"You were okay with it?" Luke asked with a crease between his eyebrows.
"What's wrong with liking men?" he replied with a straight face.
