Noah was in the middle of a meeting when Markus called. And just as usual he ignored his call and nodded to Antonio. He knew what to do.

Markus was probably just being his obnoxious self because he was calling him. If it was an emergency at work, he would send a message to Antonio first before calling him.

He turned his attention back to the head of the marketing department that was giving a presentation when his phone rang with Jess's special ringtone.

His heart skipped a beat and nodded his head again to Antonio before standing up from his chair and stepped out of the conference room without a word to answer Jess's call.

"Hello, baby?"

"Yes, baby."

"Motherfvcker! Why are you calling me using Jess's phone?! Markus, I'm gonna—"

"Sorry, boss but it was a matter of utmost importance."

Noah held in his anger when he heard Markus calling him boss. If Antonio calls him boss to let him know that what he was going to say is something that is outside his job, Markus calls him boss to let him know that something is wrong.

He doesn't have to explain anything for him to act accordingly. All he needed to hear from him was to say the word boss.

"Is everything fine?" he asked in a strained voice.

"Yes."

The one-word answer from him drove his mind out of worry and overthinking all possible scenarios of what could have happened with Jess.

"I have just stepped out of the conference room. I'm walking to my office now. Put an end to this call and return Jess's phone to her. And use your own goddamn phone to call me!"

Even with the worry bubbling in his chest, the thought of Markus using Jess's phone wants him to smack the back of his head. How dare he touch Jess's personal things!

Markus was speechless with Noah's annoyance over him, using Jess's phone. He glanced at Jess who was leaning against the headboard of her bed, listening to the phone call because she insisted on putting the phone on speaker.

She was worried that he would say something to Noah. He couldn't believe the distrust that Jess has over him just because he teased Aadir for being on Noah's hit list. He was just joking!

Markus handed Jess's phone back to her and said, "Told you Noah is crazy over you," he chuckled.

"Sometimes, he can be too much," she muttered under her breath.

Markus lifted his brow with what Jess said but didn't comment on it. He picked up the chair back to where he took it, opened his laptop computer, and waited for Noah's call.

He set up his computer in a way that Jess couldn't be seen in her bed because he doesn't want to drive Noah into jealousy that he was inside Jess's bedroom. He didn't wait long for Noah to call him. He wondered if he ran back to his office from the conference room for him to call him too fast.

"I called you using my goddamn phone but you won't answer my phone." He said the moment he accepted Noah's video call.

"Is Jess okay? What happened?"

"She's fine. I'm just calling you to let you know so you won't kill me."

"Stop talking in a circle. What happened to Jess?"

"She fell asleep on the tub. Aadir with good common sense called a doctor as soon as he covered Jess, drained the tub, and called one of the maids to help her change her clothes."

Jess, who was straining her ears to what Markus would tell Noah, felt grateful that he didn't play around and told Noah what happened in a proper manner. It was also her first time to hear the story of what happened since she was out unconscious.

Markus thankfully skipped the part where she was unconscious when everything happened. Markus was listening to whatever Noah was saying on the other line when Jess heard a soft knock on her door.

She threw the blanket away that was covering her legs and got up from the bed to open the door. Aadir was back, followed by a maid with her soup.

Since it was already almost morning, she asked if she could have the soup on the balcony.

Aadir quickly helped the helper to prepare her soup on the balcony of her room, and while she was watching them headed to the balcony, she noticed that she was wearing a pair of burgundy pajamas.

It was the only pajamas that she has in her closet because all her sleeping clothes were Noah's old t-shirts.

She glanced at Markus who was still on his laptop, talking to Noah. She just nodded at him before she followed Aadir to the balcony.

"Young Madame, your soup is ready. I also had some coffee prepared for you. But it would be best if you eat the soup first and take your medicine before you have some coffee."

Jess smiled at Aadir and the maid with him, who she saw for the first time. Slowly, she lowered herself on the chair and picked up the spoon to enjoy the soup that Aadir had prepared. She glanced up at Aadir with a wider smile, "It tastes delicious!"

For the first time since her accident, Aadir smiled widely. "I'm glad you like it. It's a chicken soup cooked slowly with some healthy herbs that are good for your body, and the chicken bones have been removed from the soup, for easy eating."

"I love it! But...Aadir?"

"Yes, Young Madame?" The worry returned to Aadir's face when she called him.

"Please, don't call me Young Madame. Miss Zimmerman is okay but it would be better if you'd just call me Jess," she said with a smile.

Aadir lowered his head, and said, "Thank you for your kindness but it won't be appropriate for me to call you just with your name, Miss Zimmerman," he lifted his head and smiled.

"It's Miss Zimmerman, then. Don't listen to Markus when he tells you that Mr. Tiefenbacher has you on his hit list," she said scrunching her nose.

"I won't be too careful," Markus suddenly spoke behind Aadir that made the poor man stiffened in fear once again.

Jess rolled her eyes in annoyance, "What is it this time?"

The annoyance in Jess' voice caused Marcus to chuckle, "I'm going now." Noah would probably call you…"

Jess looked down on her phone on the table and saw Noah was calling.

Markus whistled and Aadir and the maid left the balcony with him.
