"Hey, minx, I miss you."

Luke who has been listening to the voice-recorded message of Noah to Jess for the nth time, rolled his eyes. Jess has been playing the voice message on repeat in the lab. And, he wanted to either poke his ears to bleed or smash Jess's phone on the steel table. Both would probably result in a broken shoulder or worse—his life!

"Just go to the fucking Berlin! Follow your boy toy before I became a murderer! I beg of you!" He shrieked like a banshee in the quiet lab. He slapped his palm on the steel table, turned her swivel stool around, and looked at Jess at the other table who was like a freakin robot, moving mechanically and her battery was the damn voice-recorded message of Noah. He already sent a video of Jess to Noah and he was demanding emotional and mental compensation because Jess was driving him insane. However, Noah simply replied with a grinning emoticon and that's it.

"Ugh!" He pulled his hair in frustration. He truly hates people who are madly in love. "Can I play some music?"

Jess nodded without giving him a glance. He rolled his eyes and said, "Thank god for some mercy." The sarcasm was heavy on his words but Jess acted like she didn't hear a thing.

With Noah's voice coming through in the middle of the lyrics of whatever song that he was playing, the hours passed by. After listening to Noah's voice so many times, he no longer feels anything listening to it. It became as though it was part of the song that floated around the quiet laboratory.

"Jess, aren't you going home?" It was already past midnight when he checked his watch. Jess has been staying in the lab till the wee hours of the morning. She would go home to take a nap, a quick shower then she's back in the lab. He wanted her to take longer breaks but she wanted to free some days out of her schedule to visit Lucille and Noah.

He already talked to Oliver and he can't spare any time, even if he wanted to because he was helping in two of the researches he was part of and he barely has time to sleep. He wanted to talk to Noah to pull some string in HR but if Jess would find out that he did it just so she could take a rest; she would be angry at him at it's not the kind of angry that would be soothed with 'sorry, I was just worried about you' kind of apology.

That's why he was left with no choice but to watch her slave herself in the lab.

"I'll finish this one then I'll go home."

"And what time will you finish that one?"

Jess didn't answer and he sighed. It means, she doesn't know. He returned to the data he was working on and continued what he was doing. If Jess would stay in the lab, he would do the same. He would feel guilty if he would go home while Jess worked her ass off with his research.

"When are you planning to fly to Berlin? Oliver has free days in the next two days," he lied. "You can take a break the day after tomorrow."

"Really?" Her eyes that looked dead tired suddenly brightened up. She misses Noah a lot and she has been worried about Lucille. She couldn't wait to see her and ask her personally if they had a problem that made her not answer any of her messages or her calls. She could ask Noah about it but she doesn't want Noah to be involved in the problem. If there are things that Lucille doesn't like about her, she wants the young girl to voice it out without any biases or influence from Noah.

"Yes. I think it would be best if you book a ticket now so you can confirm your flight schedule and Oliver and I can fix our schedule too." He smiled and felt glad about his lie. Jess looked relieved that it was worth the lie.

Jess smiled widely and opened her phone to check some flight schedules to Berlin. While checking flights, she decided to not just surprise Lucille but also Noah. Hence, she booked a hotel accommodation as well. She was grinning from ear to ear, feeling giddy, imagining Noah's reaction if she suddenly appeared in front of him.

She has been thinking deeply about those things that Noah lied about. She finally decided that she wanted to open up with Noah about it and if there are times in the future that Noah felt the need to lie, no matter what the reason will be, that's the only time that she will crucify him. But right now, she will let things pass and let bygones be bygones. After all, he told her before that he lied as a reflex to protect her and to protect himself. He was betrayed and hurt in the past and she can understand the emotional scars that it left him and how it changes his behavior in the present. Although, no matter what the reason is, lying is still not okay in a relationship. The only reason why she's letting things go was that she wanted to have a clean slate with Noah.

She wanted him to tell Noah about their first encounter and how it affected her choices and her interaction with him. She would be ready for his explanation and be willing to explain herself to him as well. Her pride can take the sidelines for now. Having a clear and open relationship is her priority and she can't ask for something from Noah the same thing that she can't offer him. She can't demand honesty if she can't be honest to herself and to him.

"I know Noah is messaging you, please don't tell Noah that I'm flying to Berlin the day after tomorrow.." She made sure to tell Luke to not ruin the surprise that she prepared for Noah and Lucille.
