Wyliame was stunned. Somebody poisoned my potatoes?!

The boy glanced over at Onas and saw that he was grinning back at him. Suddenly, Onas leaned closer to the boy, letting out a whisper.

“...so you are a god-bearer, boy.”

“W…wha…?” Wyliame nervously let out, not understanding what was happening.

Onas returned back to his upright posture and resumed eating his veggies as if nothing had happened. Wyliame glanced over at Lorelia, who was kneeling down beside him to heal his hands, and saw that she didn’t seem to notice anything either.

“Hm? What did you talk to Wyliame about, Dad?” Mya asked as she began putting a spoonful of mashed potatoes into her mouth.

“Wait! No! Don’t eat that!” Wyliame screamed, standing up from his chair and flinging his arm away from Lorelia. She was shocked at his sudden reaction.

Everybody stared at Wyliame in silence.

“Erm…I mean, I saw a bug flying on your food. I was worried that you might get sick from that…”

“Jeez, you scared me there, Wyliame!” Lorelia laughed, gently grabbing onto the boy’s hand again.

Mya made a face of disgust and pushed her potatoes aside. “B-bugs?!”

Wyliame sat back down, his mind racing all over the place. What should I do… what should I do…

Suddenly, Onas leaned forward yet again and whispered into Wyliame’s ear, “Don’t worry, I only poisoned your plate.”

The boy had a shocked expression across his face but he was simply met with Onas’s smile shot back at him.

<”Whatever you do, do not pick a fight with him. I sense it. He’s far stronger than you. He’ll kill you in mere seconds.”>

What should I do?

<”Be patient. As long as you stick with Mya and Lorelia, you should be fine. He won’t kill you in front of his family.”>

At last, Lorelia finished healing up Wyliame’s hand and returned back to her seat to eat whatever was left.

“Thank you for the meal, Mom! Do you want me to do the dishes tonight?”

Mya was the first one to finish her meal.

“Don’t worry about it, Mya. You did it the entire time last week so you could just rest up, alright?” Lorelia told her with a smile.

The girl nodded, grabbed her plate, and gently placed it down in the sink as she walked toward her room. A few seconds later, Wyliame finished up the last of his meal and did the same.

“Wait, hold on,” Onas began, stopping him as soon as he started walking toward Mya’s room. “I’ve been meaning to ask you this, but… do you wanna go hunting with me tomorrow?”

Wyliame’s eyes widened slightly. There it is… that same offer to go hunting!

Suddenly, a system appeared in front of his eyes.

<Deny Onas’s offer to go hunting>

Wait, what? This was different from the last time. Before, the system wanted me to accept the offer… Is it because I’m on a different timeline? Wyliame wondered.

<”It seems that the guidance wants to lead you toward a different path this time,”> Yris pointed out. <”The voice of guidance does not tell lies.”>

Onas’s gaze remained on Wyliame. “So? Whaddya think, boy?” Onas persisted.

“Sorry, but I don’t really like hunting,” the boy replied with a smile. “Thank you for the offer, though.”

Wyliame stood still, waiting for Onas to reply to his response. For the next few seconds, however, neither of them exchanged any more words. Lorelia constantly glanced back and forth between them, confused at the sudden change in atmosphere.

“Um… guys?” she blurted out.

“Oh well! Not much to do about that, can ya?” Onas eventually gave up.

Wyliame nodded and continued his stride toward Mya’s room.

“But one more thing,” Onas continued from behind Wyliame’s back. “Can I talk to you privately later?”

The boy stood still, not even turning his head back toward Onas. Is he gonna kill me?

<”Just do as he says. Don’t anger him.”> Yris instructed.

Eventually, Wyliame replied, “Sure. We can talk later.”

Onas nodded and waved him off.

As the boy anxiously strolled through the house, he noticed the familiar decor that he had seen before. The same brightly colored vases with flowers inside, the same flat shelves that planted themselves on the walls with books and empty glass containers on top of them, and the same painting of a mighty warrior in bright golden armor with his sword heroically raised into the air. “The Last Draconic Warrior,” the painting read.

Suddenly, Wyliame began, Yris, tell me honestly. The timeline that you destroyed… It comes with consequences, doesn’t it? That’s why Onas tried to poison me.

<”Was there even a choice? You were about to die. Zilnus the Immortal Giant had already destroyed your body in the previous world.”>

Yeah, but-

Wyliame was unable to finish his sentence. There was no argument to be made.

As he reached the front of Mya’s door, he heard Lorelia’s thin voice speaking with Onas from across the house. It was a quivering, shaky voice of trauma.

“...I-I’m so glad that Mya has a friend now… she was so broken before Wyliame came…”

“Yeah, her energy finally returned ever since the day that Myr left,” Onas softly spoke.  Wyliame resembles him a lot, doesn’t he?”

Onas, the man who attempted to kill Wyliame with his poison, was now comforting his loving wife in the same exact room.

“After all of these years, I thought that I'd finally found Myr laying in the snow. But I had accidentally mistaken him for Wyliame. I wanted to apologize to Myr so, so badly for everything that we've done to him... but he hasn't returned yet..." Lorelia cried.

Hearing that, Wyliame shook his head and opened the door in front of him, entering the room. There was no point in listening any longer- he had already heard those same exact words from Lorelia and Onas in the previous timeline.

“Did you hear them?” Mya asked. She was seated on a chair, gently raising her gaze from the book that she was reading to look at Wyliame. But the boy didn’t say a single word.

Suddenly, he began walking up to Mya with a serious look on his face.

“Wyliame…? What’s wrong-”

He firmly gripped her shoulders, staring deeply into her eyes. Flabbergasted, Mya dropped the book from her hands and shyly stared at Wyliame.

“W-what’re you doing? W-we just met!” Mya blushed a bit, not understanding Wyliame’s intent whatsoever.

The boy maintained eye contact with her. “Tell me about your father.”

Then, Mya’s yellow eyes returned to their original green color as the yellow aura around her ears disappeared. ”Huh? Why do you want to know about my father?”

“Onas tried to kill me. He poisoned my potatoes.” Wyliame whispered.

Hearing that, Mya’s eyes widened. Her mouth began to open, but not a word came out.

<”Wyliame, what the hell are you doing?!”> Yris yelled. <”Are you an idiot?!”>

But the boy continued prying further. “Please, Mya. Tell me about him.”

Mya shook her head and proceeded to press her hand against Wyliame’s forehead. “A-are you okay…? Are you sick? I can ask my mom to heal you-”

“Your father tried to kill me,” Wyliame repeated with a slightly raised voice. “So please tell me. What is he?”

“W-what’s wrong with you? Why are you accusing my father…?”

“Mya, please. I know that we just met, but you have to believe me.”

<”You dumbass… she’s not going to say anything if you talk like that-”>

“He has the magic of a dragon. I don’t know how he has it, but he was the one who saved the Kingdom of Amber.” Mya began.

Wyliame kept his stare on her. “Is your father a god-bearer?”

Yris, shocked that Wyliame was so straightforward, screamed, <”Wyliame, what the hell are you doing?! If Onas hears this, then-”>

“Yes I am,” a voice blurted out.

Wyliame turned around and noticed Onas standing in front of the room with the door gently opened. He began walking inside, closing the door behind him.

Thosthar, the god of dragons. That’s whom I’ve contracted with.”

Note from author:

Sorry for the shorter chapter, everyone. I've been sick lately, so I apologize if the writing quality has gone down too.

As for me rewriting the earlier chapters of the novel to get rid of the LitRPG element, I haven't been able to finish the rewrite completely yet, so the series might seem a little bit messy. But anyhow, the main storyline should stay the same.
