[Luka’s perspective]

I liked staying home when I lived on Earth a lot and all but being stuck at home in this cultivation world sucks. Like walking past the chocolate isle as a kid to get nothing, being unable to explore the Immortal World myself puts a dampener on the mystical experience of it all. The time hasn’t all been wasted listlessly looking out into the world with my wife here. I have learned so many things about being a girl in my three lives away from Earth, but the last few years has been like a whole new world, like wow…

Unfortunately, Elise is not home at the moment, it’s been ten years since we arrived, and she would need to meet with others of the Southern Alliance every few days. The Southern Alliance was formed through my brother’s work when we first arrived, apparently you anger a lot of old and impolite men when their kids accidentally die to my spirit network. He and Anastasia connected with the locals nearby and after years of negotiations our nations and the local sects tied the knot and became an alliance.

Sects like The Great Azure Wind Sect only had one or two Immortal King stage and after I caught a hundred invading Immortal Kings they were more receptive to talking and accepting of modern thinking. Ezekiel and Anastasia traveled around all over the south meeting and negotiating whilst experiencing their own lucky encounters and had breakthroughs in their cultivation and relationship, they went out into the greater wide world as ambassadors and came back expecting a kid. Anastasia gave birth to two kids five years ago, twin girls and if I didn’t complete my avatar technique in time I would have missed their births for my jail called home has become a no-go zone.

The whole mountain that has been upgraded beyond recognition became the untouchable heart of the growing technology culture, they call it Mt. Technopolis and almost worship it like some kind of deity. The culture has developed significantly since I started putting out ideas I remember from Earth and my own documented research, so much so the norm for young cultivators is to become some kind of researcher or inventor. Mt. Technopolis and its surroundings has been a sight for sore eyes even if I am using artificial senses more often than not, Concrete forests on Earth might be full of gloom but here the versatility of formations and puppets has led to a truly beautiful city that has proliferated for hundreds of kilometers.

The avatar technique I developed wasn’t just to see my nieces, it was to ‘appear’ anywhere my spirit network as connected to, which amounts to unofficially 30% of the Immortal World and officially about 10%. The official part is what is used by others and is the extra side I made when trying to replicate the internet with the development of others helping. The rest is an extension of myself, gathering data for my study of cultivation to work out what stage I am actually at, since we arrived I have felt myself grow more in quantity but have yet to work out my quality, but I know something is happening because my hair has become black with gold strands weaving through it whilst according to Elise my eyes contain a huge, layered network of gold lines.

“What is so great about this useless mountain! I, Adam the greatest genius of the Dao Seeker Sect challenges the owner to show the world how paltry the southern region is!” A majestic voice booms from the sky, finally someone insane arrived, checking on the security panels I see a trying to hard looking guy with a block of metal he likely calls a sword, its way too thick to be a sword.

Thinking about how to deal with my first trespasser I react too slowly to see Armie fly up and smack him. She just went up and smacked him and now he is flying away at the speed of sound from the impact. Well, that’s that, back to cultivating.

[Kathrine’s perspective]

The school auditorium was desolate as only a dozen students sat to the front, the teacher looking down from the stage accompanied by my mother. I was one of the students seated beside my twin sister as members of the advanced class at the leading center of education in the whole southern region, Mountain Base University. We are fifteen years old this year and reached the equivalent of Soul Refinement stage of the new cultivation path that was designed by father’s research institute, our path is only different to ancient style up till the Immortal Realm.

Built when our continent arrived at the Immortal World, the only inhabited facility built within one hundred kilometers of the center of the continent, the holy land of technology, Mt. Technopolis. Other regions boast about their cultivation holy lands and legacies, whilst we boast the only holy land of technology, the birthplace of the spirit net, my aunt’s house. Yep, my father’s younger sister lives there according to her words, father avoids answering whilst mother denies it. The reason my class and I are in the hall is because of the mountain, we will be visiting the laboratories on the mountain itself, it’s said the defense drones that protect the Southern Region were designed there and they are still a technological marvel to researchers today.

“Due to security reasons, we will be traveling via cart from the university to the Golden laboratories. Remember do not release your auras whimsically and follow any Spirit-net prompts you see. You are all the new blood of our growing nation and future eyes that will pry into the mysteries of the world methodically. Now a word from the vice-dean” Our teacher emphasizes as she explains our excursion. She is dressed in a formal suit and skirt that make her look experienced and official whilst the vice-dean, my mother, is dressed in a long white coat overtop of some casual clothes.

“I will be following behind in a separate cart and will be the guardian of this trip. If anything happens do not panic” Mother’s beautiful and mystical voice sounding with firmness and concern. Was there some rumor of something happening for there to be so much concern, I guess it was only last week that someone tried to drop a giant sword on the mountain only to be stopped by a very dangerous feeling cylinder that looks suspiciously like our automatic vacuum.

After the pretty pointless meeting we went to the shuttle zone to find the carts. The pair of carts are identical, sleek surfaces with an odd shape, they were pretty much five-meter cubes with majority of the faces only reaching a third of the way to the roof. Seated against the wall the cart travels at a modest speed leaving us in the buffer zone between the university and our destination in ten minutes, in those ten minutes we all got excited and discussed about our location, mutters of rumors float around and it was only after an hour we settled down and watched our surroundings.

“Hey Katie, do you think our Aunt really lives there?” My twin, yet opposite in most ways, her voice energetic and youthful. Her hair short, whilst mine long, she is bubbly and chatty, whilst I like solitude and reading, she has started gushing about boys recently, whilst I uh haven’t.

“I think it is likely, I mean can you even tell her avatar apart from other people aside from its appearance? Who is to say she could be different due to her cultivation technique? It is odd that most people don’t know father has a sister though.” I reply after thinking about our Aunt.

“Hmm well what about Auntie Elise, she is the only person that can come here anytime, last I heard she had a teleportation array now too.” Hope comments. Auntie Elise is one of the most powerful cultivators I know of and there are stories of her jumping stages in combat to push back Immortal Kings.

The cart traveled onwards, I could clearly see details of the mysterious mountain, it’s gold, lots and lots of gold twisted with everything like veins of plants. Many structures litter the land around us and the conveyers connecting them are covered in a range of different parts. With a click the world seemingly freezes, a sinister aura flooding in a moment later. Looking towards the source an ancient, robed man floats a dozen meters above us.

“Is this the spawn of that brat? They are weak. But I do need them to catch him to hamper this illogical and insane idea of cultivating oneself into a better version of themselves, the heavens are to be suppressed and others dominated!” The man’s firm voice full rings out as it the world was speaking to them. I look to the cart mother is and see it wrapped in some kind of sword seal, growing I look around the cart in case of any Spirit-net prompts. I see a case labeled ‘Need a Hand? Break during emergencies.’

“Get that trivial Great Immortal brat out here or his children die.” The man’s voice booms and shatters the glass I was looking at and inside was an arm, seemingly made of stone with trails of gold riddling the surface, I reach out sub-consciously and grab it. Hugging the arm to my chest as the cart’s roof is peeled away by some divine sense that reaches for Hope and I. I watch as Hope is pulled into the air, fear weighing my limbs as I try hold the arm like a club, divine sense slowly wrapping around me too.

Suddenly the oppressive aura disappears as does the divine sense, the stone arm flying out of my grasp as and grabs the air at the man. The space around him warping and bending like a huge hand grabbing dough. As the space closes around the man, he begins struggling seemingly trying to escape the invisible force around him.

“No Impossible, that kid can’t control a Dao-grade treasure! I am the great Adam! I will surpass th- ARRGhhh-“ The screaming man suddenly being squashed into paste once the stone arm clutches its hand. Exhaustion rises from my idling mind, and I slump to the ground to see my Aunt’s Spirit-net avatar on one of the cart’s screens smiling at me.

“Wow, that was intense! Like, amazing! Katie, do you know what that arm is?!” A bubbly and cute voice approaches as its source crashes into me. Pink hair filling a lot of my vision.

“Ah, umm, I-it was a rush of the moment thing Celeste.” I manage to stutter out as I try and distance myself from the pink haired girl, with her adorable big eyes and pretty looks.

“Hahaha, looks like my daughter got to be a little hero” Dad? I look over and see father in mother’s cart with his classic grin. Ugh that means this was a set up.

“It wasn’t a set up dear, your father only came to my cart first as we knew you students were protect far better than anything else.” Mother reading my mind somehow or another says so, so it must have been a real situation at least, perhaps we were bait. Finally a notice a familiar figure standing beside mother, hair golden like the mountain’s veins with black streaks and eyes that have an endless maze of streaks inside, smiling extremely widely she waves at us.
