One morning, a long time ago, in a small hamlet far away from civilization, there was an old hovel. This hovel was the home of a cantankerous old halfling named Kristine. If you asked her what she did for a living, she would answer "I herd idiots." as if it was the most common answer in the world.
Kristine was not home on this particular morning, however. She was off doing who knows what, who knows where. What was at her home though, was a journal. Of particular note was an entry from years ago, which began...
The first of the third, Snowfall, in the sixty-forth year.
Today, Chet revealed something to me. Something I suspected all along mind you, but I did not expect them to just tell me. Chet is a fairly large and awkward fellow, they do not usually speak out unless it is in battle. But today, when we were alone with Lorielle to help in her duties as a paladin, was different.
No, today they confided in me a secret.
I have spoken with Lorielle and she agrees that something must be done about it. We are officially starting on a campaign. Lorielle and I have dubbed it "The Quest for Chet's Wish".
Mort is a little confused as to the nature of this campaign, but when I told him that if he didn't help Chet would be devastated, he relented.
Rrovanni, of course, didn't ask any questions; they simply asked when are we leaving.
This quest will probably bring us much hardship, but that's nothing new for us, fools that we are.
We will start with a lead given to me by an old friend. There is a library in the northern city of Kravenrund. Apparently the librarian there had an encounter with one of the Djinn…
The fifth of the fourth, First Bloom, in the sixty-fifth year.
We are now following our third lead into wishing magics. I do not have high hopes of this one succeeding, but we still must try.
Chet is not doing well. Things that came easy to them before we started all this are now becoming more difficult. I do not know if it is the quest itself that is causing this through constant reminders of their condition, or if it is a natural consequence of this "affliction" as they call it. Rrovanni and I will continue to monitor.
Lorielle has been praying to her patron every night that we might find a solution. We have received word through one of her communions that a Servant of the Moon is currently looking for leads, and they will assist us when we meet up with them in Prrava.
I have asked Mort to get in contact with his old “friends”. It's possible they might have a solution that we are missing due to it's less than legal status.
Otherwise, we will continue on this path of inquiry. May The Sun and The Moon have patience with us.
