Silent footsteps knock the ground.

Small pebbles with sharp edges would occasionally hurt the sole of her feet, the water mage felt the pain as she walks. The sole of her slipper is slowly deteriorating and it already has its own mouth, with how thin it is, no wonder she could feel as if something is trying to stab her with small and blunt shards of glass.

'I failed...'

The water mage said in her own mind. One could notice the disappointment with how her eyes kept looking below the ground.

She then bit her lips and bitter blood falls from her mouth.

'I failed again...'

She grips her staff tightly as if trying to crush it with her bare hands.

'Just what kind of monster is that demon, everyone... forgive me '

Then tears would swell on the side of her eyes, but not enough to make them fall through her cheeks. It remains stagnant that it's painful, she can't express how distressed she is, and she can't tell anyone the pain she felt. Her emotions kept bottling up inside her chest and it wants to explode.

The past vividly replayed inside her mind, she could see just an ordinary party trying to set off an adventure. A man hold her hand as they rose to the floors, defeating a vicious monster on the way up and experiencing something new, an adventure that they all love to do.

It was a warm feeling for the water mage, but then everything became cold when the demon came. The pain is like a blade of ice piercing through her guts, it was sharp, it was warm, and it was spilling blood.

The most painful thing she felt, is when the man who was holding her hands betrayed her and left her to be fed by the demons. The rest of the party chose him over her and she was left alone in the chasm of darkness, begging them to come back.

'It's like what you've said, I am too powerless. I can't do anything without this staff...'

She looked at her thin purplish black staff and her face reflects the blue spherical gem on top of it. She sighed as she looks at her reflection.

Walking further to the tunnel, she found a path forward where there is no light. The darkness envelops the place that her eyes can't reach anything but the pure color of black.

"GWOOOORHHH"

A sudden loud growl of a monster echoes through the dark tunnel. The water mage raised her guard and instinctively look in the direction of the source of the sound. After a while, concluding that the monster won't approach her, she continued to walk through the dark space.

"[Light Orb]"

She cast a ball of pure light using her staff with plasma magic, a total opposite of her usual spells of cryo magic. The floating ball of light follows her lead as she walks, illuminating the tunnel and dispersing the shadows.

"This place seems to be lacking any 'lumen', it's too dark"

Looking around the walls, she stated. Lumen is a self-illuminating stone that uses mana from the environment.

She encountered a stiff path upwards, she grunted as she climbed through the sharp stones trying really hard to go up with her fragile body, tons of sweat envelops her face. At the last moment, she reached the edge of the cliff and panted as she lay on top of the floor to rest.

After a while, she then stands up to investigate her surrounding.

"Wind?"

The blow of cold wind to her sweaty face was chilling that it surprised her to the core. She walks further forward, stepping closer to revealing the mystery beyond the enveloped darkness. Approaching further, the light of the orb reflects the surface of the cloudy substance.

"What is this? Fog?"

Even if she didn't step inside it, the fog enter her space. Her sight was covered by thick clouds that she can't see a thing even the ground. She covered her nose for extra measures to avoid inhaling if the cloud is actually a poison gas excreted by some monster.

She noticed how thick the fog is that she felt uncomfortable by instinct. One conclusion came to her mind that this fog is not a natural phenomenon nor natural-magical.

"NO, IT'S!"

She looks at her back and sees nothing but the eternal fog.

"It's just my imagination"

She concluded disappointingly, but another step and a hollow space cause her not to trip but to fall. She immediately used her staff and thrust it into the walls, sticking it and she was there hanging tightly trying her best not to fall.

She looked below and a deep black hole awaits her.

"What the! An abyss?"

The hole felt eternal that once you fall it seems like you will fall forever. She stared at it as if getting hypnotized and the abyss stare at her back making her feel something strange in her stomach. She gulped her excess saliva before looking back up.

Upwards the fog goes, slowly eating the cloud substance away from the tunnel. The hole extends upwards and it also felt infinite, there is no end to it but eternal darkness.

She strengthened the muscles on her arms and pull herself upwards.

"Hmph!"

The energy and strength she needs to use cause her to grunt. When her eyes can already see the surface of the floor, a sharp projectile of wood stick grazes her cheeks causing them to bleed

"Yo, mage girl, it seems like we could settle the score this time"

'Who the hell!?'

Her arms fall out of strength and once again, she was there hanging with her hands on the staff. Her arms are starting to ache, so instead of insisting to use her physical strength, she used magic to get herself back up.

She cast [Freezing Point] into the air creating a floor of thick ice that sticks to the wall for her to step on. After quite a struggle pulling her staff from the wall, she managed to leap through the cliff using the floor she created.

Another projectile would attempt to hit her but she blocked it by creating walls out of air using [Freezing Point].

"[Snipe]"

A layered number of magic circles appear on the front of her left eye and hold her freezing staff as if holding a sniper rifle. She then cast another [Freezing Point] to make a barricade that blocks the unknown attacker's projectile.

"Covering yourself Huh?"

The attacker said while he continuously shoots the projectile only to get blocked by the walls of ice.

The girl concentrated all of her stored mana on the top of her staff, and the blue spherical ball creates a strong light with an auric flame of blue.

"[Wind Blast]!"

Then the explosive blow of winds wipes away the fog or smoke as well as hurls the attacker away from his position. The attacker managed to regain his footing, creating friction between the sole of his foot and the solid floor with small pebbles of rock.

The mage girl squints her eyes with her [Snipe] skill that allows her eyes to zoom through distance. She cast another [Light Orb] and commanded it to go to the inner tunnel, she saw a green ugly goblin holding a wooden crossbow, on his back, he is equipped with a sword made out of spider fang and a quiver loaded with sharpened sticks.

The goblin tried to shut the orb off but his hands pass through it and he gave up from even trying.

"You're the goblin from that time"

"Good, you remembered. I should have killed you when I had the chance and defile your womanhood after what you've done"

The goblin exposed his stomach which is sewn shut by spider threads. It is still fresh, bleeding with yellow pigment and bubbling pus. The mage only responds in silence as she looks at the goblin's appearance.

"But, don't worry. I don't resent you, after all... I understand. You're an adventurer so your job is to kill monsters"

The mage girl suddenly felt pain in her head that almost cause her to collapse. She forced her eyes to open despite it wanting to shut down. The [Snipe] spell she invoked glitched out due to her lack of concentration.

'What's going on?'

She compressed her head as she saw the world spinning around her. The goblin nefariously grins at her struggle to fight the will of her body to fall asleep.

"And I am a monster, my job is to kill humans"

The goblin walks closer while pulling another stick with wet green liquid on its sharp edge.

"You must be feeling it now, don't ya. The poison of a 'Sealbreath Shroom', don't worry it won't kill you. You will just lose consciousness."

The water mage looks at the goblin in distress. Her eyes and body are starting to fall into a deep slumber. The goblin maliciously smiles from ear to ear, his eyes burning into madness and excitement.

"And I'll make sure to steal away your virginity before you wake up and become my meal. After all, dead meats are unfuckable"

The goblin stated aloud, the threat rang in the mage's ear.

"I always wondered what a virgin woman taste like, it must be surprisingly tender, ahahaha!"

Theo said while he licks his lips, his eyes unsymmetrically telling the intent of his evil deeds.

The mage girl sighed, exasperated by all the things the goblin just said.

She holds her staff and brought her forehead touching the gem on its top.

"[Poison Resistance]"

The poison rushing to her veins was wiped out clean by the sudden strong immunity she acquired against poison. She is now more awake and lively than she is before. The goblin, wearing a neutral face stare at her as she moves like nothing ever happened.

The mage girl smirks at him back.

"What did you say again? Steal my virginity? Sorry, its already lost a long time ago"

She said while performing overhead stretches with her arms.

Then a thought came to her mind and she cover her mouth with her palm.

"Oh! Are you a... virgin goblin by any chance? Fu fu, sad to say but you're the most pathetic beta goblin I've ever met. Surely, the other goblins already experienced bliss one or two times before becoming a sack of meat"

Her taunt hits Theo deeply as he remembered what his fiance had done. He didn't touch her out of his moral values, his beliefs, and respect for his betrothed yet in the end, his former friend, the hero won her body and heart.

It frustrates Theo, at first thought, he could accept his defeat in the competition called mating but what he can't accept is that they killed him. His identity and ego were violated by their selfishness, and here he thought they were his friend.

His hatred extends to the water mage, he wants to vent his will of violence and vengeance to every living thing he could see no matter who they are. He felt like, woman or child it doesn't matter... He just wants to extinguish their life out of them so badly.

He loaded the poisoned stick onto the crossbow made out of wood and a strand of spider thread.

"You're the sack of meat"

The goblin said as he pointed the crossbow to the mage and shot. He applied mana to the loose thread of the spider making them stiff like metal and their shape returns back to the originally compressed thread that the loaded stick flew through the sudden reaction.

The stick is deflected by the barricade.

"Fu fu, beta male just got offended. [Snipe], [Ice Crystal]"

The water mage used her staff like a sniper rifle loaded with a crystal of ice. Each projectile she emits impacts the target deeply and if it hits Theo, the ice would pass through his body like a bullet passing through cheese.

The goblin covered himself behind some rocks avoiding it.

'That bitch could really do anything, huh. She might have long surpassed Niel in magic and mana capacity '

Her vast knowledge of magic spells, unlimited mana, and superficial focus bothers Theo. For all he knows, it is not humanly possible, she could continuously cast spells without delay and even Niel would need the help or assistance of other job types while casting due to their focus requirement. For him, she is the real monster.

'I can't defeat her, but I know someone who could'

On the ground behind the rocks, he dug something out.

'I don't want to resort to this, but my plans are laid correctly. If I did this right, this will finish her off without me doing anything '

It's an ambush. He already removed all lumen in this place to snuff the light away creating pitch darkness where he has the advantage. He created the fog so that even if she managed to create light, he will not be seen so easily. All of his plans so far failed and his last recoil is to use the red-colored stones inside the bag.

'Red stones... a seed that can be found on Trap Shrooms. Strong impact would trigger this to explode so stepping on one is bad luck for adventurers...'

Theo would sometimes encounter an area where there are a lot of mushrooms, deadly ones like trap shrooms as after all, these kinds of shrooms grow in the dark. Every time he encounters them, he would collect them as future weapons.

'And I have plenty of them!'

He threw the bag toward the mage, before the bag even hits the ground, Theo ran as fast as he could toward the hole in the wall he prepared.

"Goodbye, stupid wench!"

He said while the bag explodes generating heat and a loud sound that roars the cave. The shockwave causes a small earthquake.

The mage blocked the shockwaves using ice walls so she wasn't harmed at all. The problem lies in what will come after. A loud growl screamed into the mage's ears as it approaches.

"Oh... fuck"

The goblin silently watches through the hole. He can't see the girl's reaction but surely he could imagine her panic and fright.

'Infected giant monsters are surely a pain in the ass'

He thought to himself.

'Those monsters are cold-blooded and attracted to fire. Plus if you add the sounds of the explosion, it is like you are calling the monsters to come over '

The rapid noise of the monster kept getting louder telling their approach. The vibration of the ground kept getting stronger in seconds.

'This is perfect. If I am lucky, that monster will eat the mage, and then it will fall into the abyss. It's killing two birds with one stone '

The monster of his interest passes through Theo's line of sight in an immediate dash. Its long body composed of human arms kept coming through his field of vision like a train running through the rails.

The mage saw this monster as it mutters, "Human, human, human...", in a childlike voice. It is a giant centipede with a head of an old man and it is composed of human arms that it used to crawl.

Instead of expressing despair, the mage ran towards the abyss and jumped. The centipede follows her lead, it opened its mouth in an attempt to eat the mage while she is on air.

"[Wind Blast]!"

She screamed and her staff creates an explosion of wind that she used to hurl her away upwards to the other side of the wall. The impact is enough that she manages to thrust her staff into the stone and hang through it. In fact, it is too strong that she got smashed into the walls and broke some of her teeth.

The centipede still tried to reach her but gravity prevented it from going further with its heavy body so it was forced to fall, eaten by the abyss.

The mage positioned herself upside down, her legs coiled around the stuck magic staff, she stretched her right arm and open her palm, then activated her [Snipe] skill... waiting for the long body of the centipede to completely fall out of the tunnel.

Once the centipede completely falls out, she saw the goblin pointing his crossbow toward her.

"[Ice Crystal]"

She shot a crystal of ice toward the goblin while Theo shot his projectile. The projectile he shot has an attached red stone in it that when it broke, hit by the ice crystal, it explodes.

While the explosion blocked Theo's line of sight, the mage rotated and ride the staff between her legs then invoke another [Wind Blast] hurling her towards the goblin. This time, she covered her body around some spherical ice to somehow manage the pain of impact.

Theo in surprise jumped away avoiding the impact of the ball of ice. It came rushing to the ground putting a symmetrical crater and even if it doesn't hit Theo directly, he was hurled away breaking his crossbow into a mess.

The ice breaks and shards of it are scattered around. Then a silhouette of a woman holding a staff stood up from it, broken pieces of ice falling from her clothes.

'What the hell...? This woman...'

The orb of light following her illuminates her face, and what Theo saw causes him to smile madly.

'This woman is the true monster between us '

The mage shows a wide crescent smile that extends from ear to ear while her head spill blood flowing on her formerly innocent face.

"Fuck it all"

Theo said, then attempted to reach for the sword on his back.

"[Glacial Storm]"

The water mage mutter as she taps the ground with the sole of her staff, and after that, a strong blow of cold wind froze everything it touch. It freezes the rocks, the humid air, even the goblin who was attempting to reach the sword on his back... he was frozen stiff like a living statue, still breathing yet his body can't move.

"You are the first goblin who pushed me this far to use my [Glacial Storm] skill."

The mage said, still retaining the creepy smile on her face. She walked past the goblin as she whispers the words, "It's been fun", into his ears.

She didn't kill him as payment for sparing her life the last time they met.

She walked further, and then she heard the sizzling sounds of melting ice. She turned her back and saw the goblin slowly reaching the hilt of the sword all while the ice that froze his arms melt into boiling water.

Then next is his shoulder, then his other arm, then his legs, the ice that incapacitated him either evaporated or melted. He is freed with his modified [Fireball] spell invoking only its heat to the surrounding air.

"So, my guess is right... You can really use magic. I am not just imagining it. You are a goblin mage"

Theo turned his back to look at the mage readying her magic staff for an attack. He smirked in excitement and told her that,

"Surely not, believe it or not, I am once a competent swordsman."

Theo finally pulled his sword from his back with his right arm.

The goblin holds the sword with both of his hands and invokes his spell.

"[Weapon Enchancement: Blazing Sword]"

Theo's sword is engulfed with burning flames, the sword appeared to have glowing cracks of blazing fire burning the air with malevolent distortion. Theo's hand glows with fire adapting to the heat of the hilt, but he is not burning, he could feel the pain of the flames but his hands are not turning into ashes.

'Theo, breathe, you could control your mana. Just focus!'

With one wrong misdirection of mana flow, his hands will actually burn into nothingness, or maybe his veins explode rendering his hands useless. No matter what, he needs to concentrate or else his own magic will kill him.

"Heh... To be honest, I don't like how you name your spells. It's too long"

The water mage mocks him, but Theo didn't react.

Theo shuts his inner thoughts down and focuses only on the flames on his hand as well as on killing the woman in front of him. He walks slowly attempting to close the distance with the water mage.

"Heh... you're actually quite decent"

The mage said in a sarcastic tone while her index finger touched her chin.

"But not enough!"

She points her staff toward the goblin and several magic circles emerge in front of it. But before she could even invoke anything, an immediate slash trailed by flames hits her stomach burning a large portion of her clothes away into white ashes.

It was too fast for her to react, that was Theo while using the full potential of his mana.

Theo turn to look at his back after he slashed and saw the mage wilt like a dying plant. The pathetic sight and shocked appearance of the mage brought laughter into his mouth.

"HAHAHAHA, HOW'S THA-"

But while he is enjoying his supposed victory, a popping sound stops his voice from speaking and he felt extreme pain in one of the most important parts of his body. His burning weapon died down into a regular sword made from a spider fang.

"Pop?"

The water mage asked, she also heard the strange sound that twist her attention to find the source.

The goblin has gone limp and dying from the pain he is trying to suppress. He touched his crotch and found a huge volume of yellow pus in his hand.

'Shit... Mana overload! My dick exploded!'

That is what people get when concentrating mana on the wrong spot. Being a mage is a tricky job that needs full mental control and discipline.

Theo stabbed the sword to the ground and used it to support his weakened body.

Theo found out the reason why this happened and that is obviously because of the naked girl in front of him.

"You shitty thot! Don't you have some dignity wearing that exposing cloth?"

"You're the one who did this! Don't put the blame on me!"

Because Theo burned a huge portion of the water mage's clothes, she is almost naked and everything is exposed. Her small petite body is too lascivious that it triggers the natural response of a horny creature called a goblin, his mana is redirected to the wrong spot and causes an overload.

But meanwhile, while they are arguing with each other, the centipede crawled back up to the tunnel.

"Human, human, human, human, goblin, human, goblin... hehe"

In shock, the water mage instinctively shouted.

"It's back!"

When she turned her head to look at the goblin, he threw the sword to her head before running away, and the mage parry it with her staff.

"AGHHH!"

But it was too late for her, the head of the centipede crushed to her body and she screamed shortly with the pain. She is getting eaten by the monster. The goblin look at the centipede as it hurled the helpless body of the mage then laughed.

"HAHA."

He starts running faster regardless of the pain in his crotch.

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

Then he entered through the hole in the wall where the centipede won't find him.

"I WON! VICTORY MOTHETFUCKER!"

He declared joyfully while his eyes slowly shut close and turn hazy.

"that's... what you... get... for..."

His eyes shut close and he passed out.
