Turning around with a smile, I saw the one and only, Barney Stinson running one of his plays on a very pretty girl.

Unfortunately for him, the girl was much too smart to fall for his plays considering she was a doctor and could see through his lies. Seeing him strike out, I couldn't help but laugh a little which he heard. As he walked up to me I noticed he looked exactly like he did in the show. A nearly 6' tall but lean, short-haired blonde with blue eyes, and of course he was wearing a suit.

"Whoa. Nice suit, kid. I don't like the modern fit as much as the slim, but it looks good." he said admiring it.

"Thanks. Slim's too tight for me, but I like your suit. It suits you."

"Yeah, slim's too tight for me usually, but Tim Gunn made me this suit so you know." he bragged while trying to flex to make himself look bigger.

"Hahaha. You'll have to introduce me sometime."

"Whoa, easy there kid. It's your first day in the minors and you already want to play with the big boys."

"I'm Matt Garetty by the way." I said reaching for a handshake.

"Dr. Barney Stinson, Surgeon General." he said emphatically.

"Whoa, you're the Surgeon General? You look so young." I said playing along.

"Yes, well when you're as good a doctor as I am, you get promoted quickly. Kid, I'm going to teach you how to live. Lesson 1, get a suit, suits are cool. Exhibit A." he said pointing to himself.

"Uh, I'm already wearing one." I said a little confused.

"Oh right, I usually pitch this to my friend Ted. Sorry about that, now where were we?"

"You were teaching me how to live."

"Right! Lesson 2, don't think about getting married until you're 30."

"Okay."

"Lesson 3, if you want to get your money's worth at a strip club, wear sweatpants. And don't sleep on the buffet."

"Hahaha, okay."

"And the most important lesson of all, whatever you do in this life, it's not legendary, unless your friends are there to see it."

"Wow, that's very poetic."

"Yeah, it is." he said with some melancholy "Anyways, let's go to a strip club!" he said before dragging me towards the exit.

On our way out the door of the area where the conference was being held, we ran into Chloe who was still at the check-in desk.

"Oh, Dr. Garetty, you're leaving already?" she said while putting her hair behind her ear.

"Well hello the-" started saying Barney before he stopped and looked at her in confusion.

"Wait Dr. Garetty?" he asked her.

"Yeah, you didn't know? He's the youngest person to become a doctor." she said looking at me with a flirty smile which I returned. Barney on the other hand whipped his head around to look at me in disbelief.

"You're a doctor?!"

"Yes sir, Surgeon General Stinson." I said with a salute and a smirk.

"You knew I wasn't the Surgeon General and you continued the lie?!" he said with disbelief before breaking down into fake tears.

"You sir, are a true bro." he said before offering me a high five which I quickly partook in.

"I knew you were lying when you told that doctor you were operating on the Dutch Ambassador. Who's a male by the way."

"Damn it! I changed it to a girl after I mistook them for a guy the last time I tried that play."

"Did it work?"

"No."

"Maybe I can help you? I am a doctor after all. I'll teach you what to say so you can sound as realistic as can be."

"Really? You would do that for me?" he said tearing up a little bit.

"Hahaha, come on it's not that big of a deal. Let's go have a drink somewhere."

"I know just the place. To McLaren's!" he yelled before running out the door before I went to follow him.

"Doctor?" I heard someone call, so I stopped and turned around to see Chloe.

"Yes?"

"Here's my number. You know in case you need someone to show you around or something." she said handing me a paper.

"How about you join us at the bar?" I asked her.

"I don't get off for another hour, but I can go once I'm done." she said hoping I would agree.

"Sounds good. Here's the address for the bar." I said before writing down the name and the location. "I'll see you there." I said before walking to follow Barney.

After a quick cab ride, we finally arrived at the infamous MacLaren's Pub. The iconic green sign with the name printed on it and the stairs that led down to the pub.

"Come on, I'll tell Carl to let you in." said Barney before going down the stairs to talk with Carl the Bartender.

Once I entered the pub, it felt a little unreal. To be in the place where a show you've watched dozens of times over. It's not as surreal as actually meeting a person from the show though. That's another feeling altogether.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I saw Barney talking to Carl and signaling me to go over.

"Carl, Matt. Matt, Carl." he said introducing us.

"Pleasure. He's not getting in the bar. He's obviously not 21." said Carl to Barney.

"Oh come on Carl. He's a doctor. He's the world's youngest doctor in fact. Just search it up."

Carl stared at Barney for a second before he relented and searched for my name. I could tell he was clearly surprised, by the widening of his eyes and by the fact that he was looking at his phone and back at me a few times.

"Alright, you're free to come in, doc." he said after a few seconds.

"Appreciate it. Here, my card. A friend of Barney's is a friend of mine. First consult, free of charge." I said while handing him my card with a smile.

"Okay, first drink on the house. What'll you have?" he asked.

"Glen Mckenna, neat."

"You got it." he said before pouring me the drink which I promptly thanked him and paid for before following Barney to the usual table where I was met with yet another surprise.

"Hey, Ted Mosby, the architect. Fancy meeting you here." I said to Ted who was just as surprised to see me.

"Uhh, Matt Garetty, the doctor. What are you doing here?" he said confused.

"Wait you two know each other?" asked Barney.

"Yeah, we met yesterday. He was looking at my building and that's when we met. Question is, how do you two know each other?" he asked Barney.

"That's so crazy! We just met today. I was at the medical conference pretending to be a doctor to pick up chicks."

"Naturally, go on." said Marshall.

"Anyway, I was totally hitting it off with this lady doctor-"

At this everyone looked at me for confirmation, to which I shook my head no, and they went back to paying attention to Barney.

"When suddenly I heard someone laughing and it was this guy. So I go up to him and I get up in his face and he gets all scared but I forgive him and we bond over our suits. Then while I was totally hitting it off with this receptionist-" again I shake my head "-I found out he was a doctor."

"You're a doctor?" asked the three remaining members of the gang, Marshall, Lily, and Robin.

"Not only is he a doctor, but he is also the youngest doctor in the world." said Barney putting his arm around my shoulders.

"Barney's making it sound like a bigger deal than it really is." I said.

"Wait, how old were you when you became a doctor?" asked Lily who by the way was just as beautiful as she was in the show.

"15." I said as I saw all three of their jaws drop while I took a sip of my drink.
